I heard a rumor that CoolJunkie banned its own founder, Nick.

Nick, post a message if the rumor is false and you still have access to your account on the web site that we built together?

I'm praying it's not true.

How can he still be listed as a moderator if he's banned?

I don't know, I'll consider it to be just a rumor for now. Maybe he'll post and say no, no, it was all just a rumor.

Inquiring minds want to know. If I suddenly stop posting you'll know why.

Barbarino, what's the real story?

Haha, that's exactly what I was going to ask next. Barbarino? Am I about to get banned from my own site?

I'm lobbying so hard for improving CoolJunkie and carrying on our original vision from way back before Iraq. I don't have any particular reason to stick around except that I'm a member of CoolJunkie. I feel about this place kind of like I feel about Miami Beach. I pick up trash off the street for free sometimes in my neighborhood when I see it because I want my beautiful little town to look tidy, but it's not like I'm going to build a new municipal wifi system for free or something.

It's true, Nickjunkie has been banned under his old account

Thanks for the info. I trust you, Barbarino.

This is disturbing. I think I'm just about done with this place.

They didn't even bother to fire me. They just totally ignored me until I left on my own. I'll bet they don't even know who the hell I am or why I'm upset.

BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT.

CP has been run into the ground and now they are going to do the same thing here. Lets start our own site. ;)

Check your email. The WF (work) is the only one I have.

Starting a web site is easy, but nurturing this community from zero was REALLY hard. It seems ridiculous to throw it all away and start from scratch. I've been fighting for THIS forum.

It's a little hard to face the idea that the hours and hours and hours and hours that I put into this place might all just go to waste because of some kind of petty personal spat between people who don't even post here.

That's actually a really common occurance, Tech. Don't think of the hours as wasted, think of them as a learning experience, think of the knowledge you gained, so that now you know and can avoid many of the mistakes you made. And think of them as networking, as well. Think of all the people you met along the way.

Actually it all makes perfect sense. Nick created CJ with the help of some others....BUT....Nick sold CJ. Kids, I'm here to tell you that in the real world, when you sell something it changes. It's also common for the creator to be banned after the eventual parting of ways. It's either a new board or nothing.

Like when a part of management quits and is escorted from the building. They don't get to keep the keys.

Hey if everyone is jumping ship, i will too. I already had both my old and (former) current accounts completely deleted from CP because its a massive shithole. Recently had a stalker incident and google my name so i decided to have things i didnt want associated with me deleted as well.

New board? I'm down. Might even be able to persuade some NY peeps to post there too if its well rounded.

Hi Ramon, I have, I promise. I have some PMs that I'd like to respond to but I'm not sure what to say. I've also heard elsewhere from investors interested in paying me to fulfill my promises to keep innovating fresh and new stuff. I'm in a pretty confused and paranoid state right now because I've heard that promise before.

The last thing that I want to do is throw up some crappy cookie-cutter forum software and put a bunch of volunteer time into it. Screw that, I'm too old for that now. I'm not going to do a new forum unless I've got a credible investor backing me. Forum sites are just about the most complex and labor-intense sites to create. I don't mean technically, I mean politically, socially, all of that complicated human crap. The new gizmos that I've been working on are for other things other than forums, because I thought that the forum side of things was in good hands. But banning Nick? That's like Miami running Henry Flagler out of town on his own railroad.

It seems underhanded for me to use this site to tell people to go to a new one. If I do allow an investor to twist my arm into starting something new, then I'll definitely spread the word, but I won't do it here.

If we do end up going down that path, then I hereby make this promise to everybody reading this: I will not forget that the purpose of a web community is to serve its people. The people are more important than the banner ads.
