V. Barbarino
That old Twilo Space with or without them will compete with them?? Karu is done, Noc is done etc.. Cameo is for sale, is nikki beach even open? Dream is a joke. etc. Shine, nope nothing there either. etc etc etcSo I came across this today, and it's exactly what I've been saying years ago, it's coming and it's the next big thing in S. Florida."17. Cool bands have finally decided it's OK to play hereRemember five years ago? Yeah, we don't, either. But let us help fill you in: No Revolution, no Studio A, no Langerado Music Festival … Is it all starting to come back? You'd hop online to see the tour schedule of your favorite band, and it'd go as far south as Atlanta, maybe Tampa or Orlando, and then veer back northward, leaving South Florida alone … so, so alone. But not no more, Billy. With Revolution and Studio A pulling in great new acts like Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and indie faves like Yo La Tengo, and Langerado bringing everyone from Wilco to The New Pornographers to our neck of the woods, we have entered a golden age of South Florida concerts. We've heard unsubstantiated rumors that things used to be this way, when national touring acts would visit mythical places like The Edge or The Kitchen Club, but we've dismissed such tales as the fever dreams of aging hipsters. So rejoice, concertgoers! It doesn't get any better than this."Think about it, 40,000 people showed up last weekend to see 1 band! Space does 40k in a year, DMB did it in 2 days. Bang Fest is all bands now, hmmmmUltra and the defunct GG have moved away from DJs even though their festivals are held during a EDM week!hmmmmACDC is coming, they should be huge! Hopefully Van Halen will add a date and hopefull with the help of God, LED MOTHER FUCKING ZEPPELIN! BITCHES!Now, lets go over discretionary income, what is and how does it work? Glad you asked I have an econ degree. discretionary incomeDefinitionThe amount of an individual's income available for spending after the essentials (such as food, clothing, and shelter) have been taken care of. So Pablo in Miami Gardens has 100 dollars a week he earns from drug dealing, he spends all 100 in clubs. Now Pablo really enjoys the live music thats finally coming back to S. Florida and his tastes in music like the market has shifted away from EDM, shit even LP privately states that EDM is dead. Therefore does the clubs have more or less customers with dicretionary income? The answer is far less. Live Music tends to cost more but people spend it because they are at a "live" event, not djs playing the same tracks in a different order. If you book them, they will come. Now pod will come on here and pretend he's been mister EDM, however one of his favorite type of bands is coming to lauderdale, Helmet!Blow me club land, you guys can't keep playing the same 20 open format songs and charge 349574 for a bottle of shit vodka. The jig is up, it's over. Space will be the only EDM venue left in Miami, mark my words sports fans..The argument that spics won't support live music is nuts! Their entire drug producing cultures from S. American is based on Live Music, shit some of their home countries don't have electricity, thus it's all live and unplugged! If you book them, they will come. Cameo and Mansion are big enough to make a go at this business model. Probably why Opium wants to buy Cameo. ps, you are all a bunch of ass clowns.. Guest coach
That was literally the lamest post ever by Barbarino. You sound like some old granddad sitting out on his rocker in front of his old farmhouse going, "I remember in the good old day..."Whether or not the nightlife business is moving from EDM to Live Music or to Podfartinginamic isn't really relevant. There will always be nightlife. The smart businesspeople will adapt to the customers' shifting taste.I don't know who you are trying to prove you are smarter than, but since you gave it up and retired, it doesn't matter. You quit, thanku, buhbye.

Guest coach
Don't get me wrong, I love live music. I love live music by fresh young bands. I love live music from the classics. But, if your favorite band is DMB, then you are definitely too old to be posting on this forum.
Guest coach
Oh yeah, if you want some good "live" music, check out the new CD by Latimore at Henry Stone Music. Just came out. Sounds great. Done by an old guy, so Barb will like it.

Guest pod
I don't trust a lot of these 'rehashed' acts since they're usually missing key members. It's like "We've got 70 percent of Zep" or "50 percent of The Doors..."At this rate it wouldn't surprise me to see a Beatles reunion at some point. Guest pod
That's great Coach. But I hope when I'm your age I won't be hangingout at nightclubs with kids that are 30 years younger than me.Just out of curiosity (I don't know Coach's age, but let's say 45 for the sake of debate) but what 'should' someone be doing when they are 45?Do they need to be settled down, spawning forth kids who are going to further tax the planet's resource reserves? Working 9-5 selling condos, then breaking away once a year for a bender in Vegas, picking up an STD from a rented professional (Oh but aren't they all...) and then passing it back to the wife when they get home to Peoria? Or in the Senate hanging out in skeezy restrooms looking for a good old session of M4M action?Let's put it this way, the real movers and shakers in nightlife are all in their 40s and beyond right now. I think if you can pull it off with style, you can hang out in a club at any age. Hell, a good percentage of the decent DJs (regardless of genre) are older than 40. Sasha and John just crossed that line, Danny's 45, etc...
Guest Davenavarro10
Right Pod but those people work in the nightclub industry. They'renot out there as patrons. Hey if Coach wants to be out there at the ageof 60 hanging out with 21 year old kids, more power to him.
Guest pod
If hhe can do it without exuding a creepy Family Guy old man vibe, then yeah, more power to him or anyone who wants to hang out in a nightclub. 30 doesn't mean you're confined to bars with lousy cover bands that close at 2 AM. 45 doesn't mean you're procreating like a rabbit on speed and worrying about that next TPS report deadline. 60 doesn't mean you're playing shuffleboard aboard some cruise ship in the Caribbean. Not to sound clichéd, but you're only as old as you feel. Sometimes I feel 21, sometimes I feel my real age, sometimes I feel like I'm 40. I usually feel 40 after dealing with the people on this forum all week . Just kidding. Sorta.
Guest coach
That's great Coach. But I hope when I'm your age I won't be hangingout at nightclubs with kids that are 30 years younger than me.Either you've not correctly deduced my age or you've not correctly deduced the legal age limit to get into clubs. In any case, what DO you hope you'll be doing at my perceived age?Oh, and just be clear, I absolutely do hope that I am still out and about in it when the average nightlife patron is 30 years younger than me. As I've said before, you guys may go quietly into that dark night, I will not. (That's a paraphrase of a quote, look it up.)

Guest pod
Thing is, we're all conditioned in some degree by society essentially to "grow up". I always get pissy when I hear people who hit a certain age, and they automatically fall into the role of whatever they think society demands of them at that age. I've seen people who literally drop off the face of the earth the day they turn 30. Or 40. Like it's a cardinal sin to go out and enjoy yourself when you're past a certain age. Hell, when I'm 40, I'd much rather look at fresh 21 year old girls than your average worn-out no-tread-in-the-tires 40something. Apologies to Michelle Pfeiffer, Monica Bellucci, Salma Hayek...(all at or over 40 FYI).
