Guest pod
The financial banners to entering the sports photography field are very high. I have the basic concepts of how to do it down, just not the financial wherewithal at the moment. Your basic sports setup will run you at least 20 grand. Factor in 2 solid bodies (no time to switch lenses, when you see the shot, you go for whichever body has the best lens), lenses, storage, laptop, etc. I'm kicking around getting on the field for a Hurricanes game just to see if I can do it. I can rent the requisite additional gear for a day.
Guest speedway
Cool that you posted Bob Rosato's gallery. I have had the pleasure of working with Rosato over the years - he's a good guy, from Miami, and one of the most talented sports photogs out there.Pod - if you really want a challenge, try shooting auto racing!
