Yes it is. And because I like you....I can get Boris booked there anytime you like, Jean-Paul. Of course....you won't get paid and there won't be any crowd there to hear him. But we will violate all local laws and stay open past 5 am because not even the cops care about 66.

It's actually a step down from Nocturnal, if you can believe that.

thanks dade for looking out,

ive thought about this long and hard, and although that is the best proposal I have had in a long time.... I think I am good with SPACE for now...lol

100% agreed. It’s unfair for these people to parade around as if the event was a success. If it was a success, then why haven’t those with contracts been compensated? Why is the promoter hiding, turning cell phones off, having crew post it was a success. That’s disgraceful.

Ding...ding...ding....we have a winner.

Don't worry. Mitch will eventually regain conciousness and surface. When he does, I'm sure he will have an entire host of excuses to explain why all the problems were someone else's fault. He will tell you all about how the venue screwed him and cheated him out of money. He will, conveniently, forget the part about being warned along with the part where he decided to screw his customers by not telling them the truth.

This, of course, will be countered by the venue claiming that they paid everyone in full and blaming Mitch for being a dishonest raver pussy. They will claim that they never said anything to anyone and that they have Sasha booked for next week.

Once the Sasha gig happens, there will be tons of money to pay all 53 DJs who got cheated this weekend. All is well!

OK.....your loss. If you reconsider, I may be able to get you in to open for Sasha.

This thread is like beating a dead horse. ive read 15 messages on here that all sound about the same. Its like one big long talk circle. Dade - I think u are simply wasting your time and energy on this club. I mean seriouslly, how many people on these forums attend that venue? I dont think anyone gives a flying shit about Club 66.

Give us some real dirty gossip to talk about in clubland!!

venue sucks, location sucks, i wouldn't go to that venue if they were giving black label on the rocks for free. I guess i would make an exception if the black label part was true, or maybe not, since maybe the scotch would be fake or mixed with water.

HERES WHAT HAPPENED STRAIGHT FROM THE HORSES MOUTH :

Hey all, Mitch here from Euphoria Project.

First off, thanks to everyone who came out to Rapture this past weekend. Even though the crowd wasn't up to our expectations the place was far from empty, and I know for a fact that EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO SHOWED UP TO THIS PARTY HAD AN ABSOLUTELY AMAAAAAZING TIME!! The rooftop in particular was incredibly inspiring, with its vast array of artwork, informational booths, vendors and musicmakers, it was truly a wonderful sight to behold. And the main room was completely out of this world, the lighting and sound where utterly phenomenal, and there was a very solid crowd in there from 11pm until 5am.

And now for the negatives of the night: Unfortunately, we comped WAY too many people for the night, and probably could've charged $20 cover and received twice as many people at the event. THe parking situation was also completely atrocious, so I'm sure that also impacted our attendance. Sorry also to all of the performers in the two downstairs outdoor courtyards; the dnb area and the experimental patio, as those two areas ended up being shut down in the early morning, so many of the performers in those areas ended up having their sets cut. Also unfortunate was the fact that - EVEN THOUGH THE AFTERHOURS *DID* GO ON AS PLANNED (contrary to some people saying the venue would be unconditionally shut down at 5am) - much of the crowd started clearing out between 4-6am...

The breakfast buffet went on at 6am sharp and was a beautiful ending to a wonderful show, unfortunately by 7 or 7:30 there were really only about 30 people left in the venue, so it was decided we'd close up around 7:30 or so. The "open panel forum discussion" never happened, even though quite a few people still remained to take part in it. Marie Exantus, the forum moderator (and overall wunderkind of this event, helping anyone and everyone in as many ways as humanly possible) stayed behind to talk to people individually and help them out in as many ways as humanly possible.

Then it was the end of the night, and certain bits of drama did occur (which I will not discuss here) but in the end, pretty much everything was resolved positively. The only real casualty of the night was my cellphone, which was smashed up a bit while packing up some gear, so for anyone who has been trying to contact me since the party, my apologies, as I can neither place nor receive calls at the moment.

As for the money situation: in the end, we didn't take in anywhere NEAR what we expected. After dividing up the cash with the venue we barely had enough to cover the stage hands who had all been LITERALLY working for 22 hours straight (11am on Friday until 9am on Saturday). as well as our four security guards who had been working from 8pm until 8am.

At this point, we owe a lot of performers a lot of money, and we intend to honor that. Sadly, I ended up taking out a loan on my car to help pay for this event, and my roommate emptied his IRA (at a serious financial penalty) to cover some of our expenses. We intend to work out a payment plan of SOME kind to settle the debts we owe but for now things are pretty strained so please give me some time to unwind. I only now *JUST* woke up after 24 hours of nearly continuous sleep, and still feel super groggy.

TO ALL SUPPORTERS OF EP: WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP. WE NEED TO RAISE SOME MONEY TO HELP PAY ALL THE PERFORMERS AND STAFF OF THIS EVENT, so IF YOU CAN AFFORD ANYTHING IT WOULD HELP US TREMENDOUSLY TO START COVERING OUR LOSSES FOR THE NIGHT AND PAY OFF SOME OF THE DEBTS WE'VE INCURRED AS A RESULT OF THIS PARTY.

FOR ANYONE WHO HAS PAYPAL, OUR ADDRESS IS mbw @ euphoriaproject.org - ANYTHING YOU CAN SEND WOULD BE TRULY APPRECIATED.

IN THE MEANTIME, WE'RE GOING TO TRY AND FIGURE OUT SOME WAY OF HAVING AN EP FUNDRAISER, TO HOPEFULLY GET TOGETHER SOME PEOPLE AND RAISE SOME MONEY TO HELP PAY THE PERFORMERS WHO HELPED MAKE THIS EVENING SUCH AN AMAZING TIME. (IF YOU HAVE *ANY* IDEAS OF WHAT WE CAN DO TO RAISE SOME MONEY, PLEASE POST IT UP HERE OR PM ME!)

Thanks again to everyone who showed up, many thanks to all of the performers, and my apologies over the money situation. Any cash that is owed you will be paid as soon as humanly possible. That right now is my number one concern and I promise you will be paid what you are owed.

Much love and respect,

Mitch

Did the promoters not know a thing about the venue prior to this? That seems like a pretty nasty financial situation to get yourself into for throwing a party at a club that has nothing, but a bad rep in the first place.

As a promoter, I think its embarrassing and pathetic to ask your patrons for donations to help you pay for your debt . I have never seen any other promoter , no matter how bad he took a loss do this type of thing.

Who would finance a rave with an IRA and a car???? Are you that stupid???

..in a way i feel bad, cause an IRA is a retirement/lifetime savings for most.. but i havent done an event like that in years..and im not a genius..but i know the demand for such events is very very low.. doesnt take much to figure that out..add the other factors going against you..and like Nick said..it is very stupid to have done that with an IRA and CAR..not the best logic in the world...

oooof i agree,

I kinda cringed when I read that

before the beggining of any event, you should have the cash to pay your artist, and enough checks to cover all staff,

EVERYONE SHOULD BE PAID ........its not their fault the event did not work out, there is no reason why they should not be compensated immediately for the services they provided

A clear-cut case of a guy who was a victim of his own message board. Mitch logs on every day to read about how amazing it would be if only someone threw a rave like back in the day. Being the top-dog at Euphoria Project, they all look to him to provide the event. Because he's not used to getting any attention, Mitch begins to get roped in. Soon he forgets that there are only 14 people on his board and begins to believe that this will be big. He takes a loan on the impala and gets his pal to cash in the IRA. It's On!!! Bunny and crew are in....a must for any self-respecting rave. 107 other DJs are booked. Breakfast is planned. Panel discussions are scheduled. The whole EP crew is abuzz with excitement.

But there are issues. The assholes over at Cooljunie are causing problems. Pre-sales are weak. Mitch works the phones and promises everyone they'll get paid at the gig. It's scary.....

Then it's the night of the gig. As people begin to arrive, Mitch is standing out front in the hopes that waves of people are on their way. They're not. The cops are there to enforce noise complaint issues. Mitch knows it's over. He spits out his pacifier....shuts down the DnB stage and gives up.

MESSAGE BOARDS ARE NOT A REFLECTION OF THE OVERALL MARKET. Sorry, Mitch, but you can't expect to make money unless there is a mainstream component to your event. I know it feels good when all the people on your board tell you that you're the man but that won't get the DJs paid.

Thanks! I am quite nice and you do seem to be the same I must say.

(and thanks again, The dot com will be a real site and the myspace redirect will be myspace.ikamoto.com but I digress...)

I can't say I'm sticking up for them, I don't think they need me to, but I will say this:

A. I was at the venue long before the event started because the organizers graciously support a nonprofit I'm involved in (we are fighting poverty worldwide).

B. I saw the effort of the folks behind the scenes to run a great event.

1. All the attendees had a blast (the ones I'm in touch with are still talking about how great and fun it was) and mixing with Bunny and Kevens from Rabbit In The Moon was icing on the cake for all.

2. All the venue & event staff I had to deal with: waitress, hostess, bouncer, & management treated me like I was their best customer and honestly did extremely well at providing excellent customer service while I was there until almost midday.

I think the attendees have the final say in whether an event was successful or not. Tons of massive, popular and "successful" commercial businesses lose money each year or for part of the year (amazon.com for a while, Ford, now Citigroup & Merrill Lynch) so even if there is brouhaha "behind the scenes", let's iron that out for next time.

I have no angle on the legalities of after hours parties but based on the fact it seems to come up in so many threads, maybe it's time to talk to City of Miami and Dade County about the policy/law. maybe get the Police and Code Compliance in on the conversation along with owners and stakeholders.

I agree 24/7 liquor sales in a club is a bad idea but closing the club (for 120 minutes!) when people can buy water and soda and a non alcoholic breakfast is bad commerce.

This is America where we believe in freedom, democracy and capitalism right?

So let's approach City Hall & County Govt. once we collectively figure out what exactly we want. The worst they can do is say "no" and then we blast them in the Miami Herald and in other media. Miami is still a political war zone right? But I say let's Increase the Peace and let's work together to keep Miami a number 1 party destination! :)

Even the politicos must want that!

But 66 won't respond because they are liars and cheats.....
Ikamoto,

You seem like a nice guy based on your MySpace redirect (btw, use your dot com for a real site), so why in the hell are you sticking up for these monkeys at 66?
