bouncyboy
hells yeah, when you cram thousands of people into one room the body heat gets a little outrageous. Rive Gauche has awesome AC, the best out of any Chicago Club... Have you been there yet?------------------ AOL IM BouncyBy

I'm sure many are nice guys, but the cookie-cutter look was just eerie.. Nocturnal sure has those great lasers though.. I'd love to check those out while under the influence. In no particular order and specific to the Chicago scene..Hate:1. Lack of afterhours clubs & lounges.2. No new 4AM places opening.3. Lack of decent suburban clubs (or music).4. Not enough outside talent on friday/saturday.5. No great 4AM large venue for rent.6. Too many loud mouthed angry drunks.7. Any place on Division St.8. Almost any place near Depaul.Love1. The close proximity of everything in the city. 2. There's enough places to satisfy the tastes of almost everyone.3. Most places are 21+4. Friendly people.5. Generally no crime.6. Enough quality talent is coming through Chicago that I dont have to drive elsewhere (for now).7. Open Bars8. Free Admissionand many more things I cant think of right now. bouncyboy
trance, about the large 4am venue for rent.. have you ever heard of Aqua?? It's huge and they call themselves a Nightclub for hire. www.aquanightclub.com ------------------ AOL IM BouncyBy
bouncyboy
and on top of that Aqua can bring out some decent local DJ's too. I have heard that Lego was there a few times as well as Jernell Geronimo, and a few other Chicago house legends.------------------ AOL IM BouncyBy

beroshima
Positives1. Small scene for those who are in it for the music. Not too overcrowded.2. Great support for local talent.3. Friendly people.Negatives1. Not much of a focus on music in many of the clubs.2. Too many glam clubs.3. No decent venue for big names.4. 4am closing time.5. Lack of selection of outside talent on friday/saturday. Many DJs frequent Austin or Toronto more than Chicago.6. Too much Techno / Old School House - Not many fresh ideas or new DJs.7. Very small scene - not that many people really into it, or at least the music.
arawn
best 1. no k-heads2. minimal belligerence (in the non-glam clubs or bars)3. core of cool people esp. community thurs4. all my favorite clubs-r#5, crobar, smart bar) have come as you are dress code (and i can suck it up once a week or so for other places).5. doorpeople don't play god and fuck with ppl in line at clubs i go to.6. generally cool staff at most places7. worst1. outrageous markup on water every place other than metro/smart bar2. shitty ac most places3. moratorium on late licenses4. too many places trying to be the next studio 545. too much "vip" shit at clubs6. a lot of clubs would rather deafen patrons that get a decent sound system------------------Fiatmusica....When the music's over....turn out the lights[This message has been edited by arawn (edited 06-21-2001).]
scratchapella
I always thought Chicago had less of that at-the-door attitude typical of glam clubs. (unlike New York) What's all this bout studio 54 wannabes? I know! All tell us your most wack experiences with bouncers or unruly club staff!? My sad (and repetitive) stories have (and will for a while) include the issue of passing off a fake ID, then losing it, only to see it reappear in the hands of another asian girl on campus! I really think I've lost more money losing IDs than total club cover I've had to pay.
