I find if you listen to a CD through a stereo system it doesn't do the trick, you have to isolate yourself from the outside world with your headphones. cathyo
To relax, definitely a book or some other "reality". I just got hooked up on my Sims on the 'puter again. I end up playing it every night, I think it's relaxing! For depression, I've heard good things about yoga but never done it. For me writing usually does the trick. That's why my journals are usually filled up with bad shit! There is the other end to though, like when my b/f and I first started dating. I recorded every sappy moment. If anyone ever read that thing they'd think I'm bi-polar!!------------------ A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to it's old dimensions.~*~*~Don't use time or words carelessly, neither can be retrieved.~*~*~
roby
Another good idea ... watching movies. There are actually some shrinks out there who recommend "movie therapy" to some patients. Getting lost in another world - away from your problems - for a couple of hours actually does help clear the mind ... I know that I'm much more lucid and happy after I watch a film (I'm talking real films here .. porn flicks help reduce stress too, if you're so inclined). And why is everyone talking about cutting back on the clubbing? Is this some group New Year's resolution I missed out on? Don't tell me people are getting old here ...

I know a few people on it and it doesnt seem like something I would ever want to have to be on. I just need to make some slef improvements thats all. Forget the past. Live life for now and realize there is much more to this world other then partying and clubs. Piano lessons though...probably not good for me being I have small fingers. But ya never know. Pottery seems to be something I am going to look into though as well as some mind freeing exercises. Thanks everyone for your input. Ill think about each in their own and decide which best suits me.And Roby...noone made a pact to give up clubbing...lol. Or if they did I wasnt around for that one. Just a conscious decision I am making for myself. My best friend is also going that route and we are doing it for our own personal reasons which I do not plan on devulging on the board. Hope you had a wonderful new year...and wheres that picture Mister????? ------------------ "Love is friendship set to music." ...E. ReginaP
I definitely agree with anyone that said exercising. Yoga & pilates if you want something low-impact; cardio kickboxing if you want to beat the shit out of your problems . Meditation...also try reading. There's nothing like getting lost in another world to make you forget about your own for a lil while Good luck.------------------=)
cubano43
Don't take Prozac it fucking sucks. Take Celexa it won't destroy your sex drive like PZ. MK we are both in the same boat. I've been in a funk for awhile now. Who ever said drug that's retarded. Get high for 10 min and crash down even harder. No thanks. Funny cause I'm always the cheerful one. I could make anyone laugh but myself. ------------------The World is mine!!
ooana
Yoga, meditation, long walks, *writing*, and just not worrying so much about how/why you feel the way you do nor worrying about what will fix it. Just let yourself be as you are and know you won't drown ;-).We'll talk more hon.-Oo------------------"When the soul wishes to experience something, she throws an image of the experience out before her, and enters into her own image."---"You have wings! a691vcc
if i can get myself motivated to do it in the first place, exercise seems to do the trick for me.
