mfiorellino
Hotel 31 only charges $115(tax included) a night for a single. It's on 31st St between Lexington and Park Avenue. It's not the Ritz-Carlton but it was clean with all the basics. There's also a Howard Johnson in midtown but I have no idea on what they charge but I'm sure it'll be reasonable. aljedynak
Actually there is a Red Roof I stayed at in March. I think it's on 34th. Nice, clean but small rooms. I paid $110 a night. You can check it out on their site on the web.

I think they even lower the price down to $75 or so if you're willing to get a room without a bathroom and share the bathrooms in the hall. geniuspro
Some friends from DC just came down last week and stayed at the Metropolitain (Former Loewes) Hotel. Right now they have a great deal at $139 I believe; cant' beat that for this calibre hotel. Also if you get them at a good time or during their promotions, the Marriott World Trade Center has nice rooms with spectacular high floor views at around that price as well. Good luck.
