Just out of curiosity... was everyone else who received an invitation to the grand re-opening party at space, that invited them and a guest to enjoy complimentary admission before midnight and an open bar 9-midnight pleased to show up way earlier than you ever would and stand in a line for two hours that did not move when the club was practically empty only to have the line miraculously begin flowing with ease at approximately 12:05. Hmm.... 'magine that.

SPACE--- you absolutely outdid yourself on this one... as much as I believed you would pull a stunt like last night I still could not believe you actually did it and with such magnitude. I am personally insulted that I received an invitation to your shite club and was treated with such disrespect.

Bottom line, if you are not willing to give anything, do not offer it in the future. It was because I received the invitation that we showed up at 10:30pm expecting to have the invite honored... instead you held the door purposely, then asked $40/head of those of us with the useless invites after we waited in line for 2 hours. Having waited in line that long we are committed to complying simply to not waste an entire evening. I would much rather have received an invite in the mail that stated

"pvd, grand re-opening, space, oct12th, fuck you $40 end of story” therefore would have shown up later, paid my money, and not stood in line like a fucking dolt holding an invite that might as well be monopoly money.

I am completely appalled at how you conduct business and won't ever wonder why your venue will not receive respect from people in the industry and out. Your reputation definitely precedes you and if this is news to you or you do not know how bad it is I suggest you stop turning a blind eye and acknowledge that you run a dodgy operation. You publicly claim that you are trying to change your tune as far as customer service is concerned, however you lure these same customers under false pretenses.

In addition to the above stated complaints- friends of ours who refused to comply returned in the a.m. to be told the cover was a reasonable $20 and that pvd would be spinning until 8am when in fact he was no where to be seen and Edgar v was well into his set.

In conclusion you are crap, the renovation is crap and makes no sense (someone please explain the purpose of that mess) and as the saying goes "fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me"

weLL I WENT TO SPACE AND I NEVER SAW ANYTHING ANYWHERE THAT SAID YOU GET IN FREE BEFORE MIDNIGHT. YOU MIGHT WANNA DOUBLE CHECK THAT. I THINK I DID SEE THAT IF YOU DO GET THERE BEFORE MIDNIGHT ITS LIKE 20 BUCKS INSTEAD OF 40.

BUT lOUIS CAME ON THIS BOARD AND PROMISED CHANGE IN ATTITUDE AND VERY LITTLE HAS CHANGED.

THEY STILL HAVE THAT RUDE ANNOYING EURO DOORMAN WHO SEEMS TO "HATE" BEING THERE ....LIKE HES TO COOL TO LET YOU IN OR EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE YOU.

I OWN MY OWN BUSINESS AND I APRRECIATE EVERY CUSTOMER THAT COMES IN THROUGH MY DOOR WETHER HES A JERK OR NOT ITS BUSINESS.

I CANT BE THE ONLY ONE FEELING THE ARROGANCE OF THIS BOZO WHO BELONGS AT OPIUM OR BACK IN THE DAYS OF THE LIVING ROOM WHERE YOU HAD TO RESERVE AN APPONTMENT TO ASK THEM A QUESTION.

SPACE IS A BIG CLUB MADE FOR DANCING AND A GOOD TIME. ITS MADE FOR THE MASSES. NOT SOME BOUTIQUE CLUB WITH JERKY ATTITUDES.

I REALLY WISH THIS WAS ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WERE ADDRESSED DURING THE "REVAMPING" AT SPACE

lOUIS I WELCOME YOUR RESPONSE

Unfortunately the invite I am referring to came enveloped in the mail to my home and specified that it was indeed an invitation for two allowing complimentary admission before midnight and like I said we allowed ample time. At no time were these invites recognized nor was there any effort made by staff to ensure that it was honored... quite the contrary as the effort was made to make it impossible to do so. Ocean Drive should be embarrassed to have put their name on the invite in conjunction with Space. We planned to attend the event because we had recieved the invitation and instead had our evening ruined as the result of what must be a greedy joke.

Hope you all had a better experience... really thought you might want to know about this stunt and how Space once again struck out.

Dear Cassius.

Sorry you had such a bad time. If your intention is to make things better so that it never happens again, you know very well you can E mail at spaceowner@aol.com and I will deal with your issues. If however your intention is to use profanity and degrade my business and employees by using this forum, I suggest you don't even bother E mailing me. It will just be a waste of your time. Over 100 people busted their ass to make everyone happy and make last Friday night's event happen. If you ever had a party at your house you know very well that you cannot make everyone happy. There is always some kind of problem or another...a fight breaks out cause somebody shoes up with somebody's ex-girfriend, someone drinks too much and hurls all over your rug, you run out of ice or worst yet liquor, somebody pees in your pool, people lock themselves up in your bedroom and do who knows what on your bed and to top it all the cops show up early and send everybody home and everyone leaves in disgust cause Cassius threw a shitty party. Now imagine throwing the same party twice a week every week for over 5000 people. The probabilities of things that can happen wrong multiply enormously.

I guess what I am trying to say Cassius is...you can please some of the people some of the time...

Thank you.

Hehe. I've been to a few house parties that ended up that way, Louis. It's why I now lock my bedroom door when I host an event.

Edgar and I had a chat and he said the exact same thing...some people are just gonna be pissy no matter what...you could have Salma Hayek giving oral to every guy who walks up to the door, and there'd still be someone bitching.

I went to Space twice this weekend. Friday was on a professional level so I could capture a few images of Paul Van Dyk. It used to be that I was constantly bothered by security when I shot @ Space. I was cleared in advance by yourself or Emi, and I'd still get escorted to the door like 10 times just so things could be cleared up. This past Friday, not once was I bothered by security. I chatted with Richard on the patio for a bit and he didn't even mention the camera.

Saturday, after I shot some film of Parks and Wilson @ crobar, I went to the patio for a bit around 7. I left my camera at home, just wanting to enjoy myself in a casual manner...also to see how the 'average' clubgoer is treated now. If I'm present with my camera, it enters bias in to the issue and my opinions don't mean jack. The door was not a problem really. I was meeting friends inside, so it was just me. I looked a little scruffy from the past few hours, but no comments were made. Stefan looked at me, checked my ID, and it was smooth sailing from there. Ivano had a great set, and I had a cool time just dancing and hanging near the booth to see what tracks he tossed down.

So yeah, there's still a few minor issues, but there's been a marked improvement in my eyes...

i am one of the few on this board who actually defends space alot and I get kind of upset when people start to complain to much about the place. but the stunt they pulled off friday night was second to none. me and about 12 others got there really early (10:15 pm) hoping to avoid the long lines and paying the $40 cover. it took us 1 HOUR and 55 MINUTES to get into the damn club. the time we were in line we moved about 15 feet. as soon as midnignt hit, BOOM, the line magically seemed to move along with ease. coincidence? nah, probably not.

and louis, if you think cassius is the only one you upset, your wrong my friend. until you guys get your shit straight, you just lost some of your most loyal customers, not that you probably give a .....

Great idea Pod. That is what I am talking about…constructive criticism. Presale tickets are definitely the way to go in order to prevent the door rush madness. I will be the first one to admit that the door was a wreck. The line moved slow as molasses. Here is the skinny on that.

1. We got mobbed early and we were not ready. We were still working on finishing up the Club. My guys were still inside the Blue Room hanging up lights and plugging in speakers. Without the Blue Room ready there was no room to fit the crowd.

2. We sent out 10,000 invitations to come and see PVD for free. Not a good idea! Added to that, some wise guy made copies of the invitations. This slowed the line as we had to check each invite for the fakes.

3. Charging regular cover ($20) before 11 pm did not help either. This also made the masses show up early. Sorry guys, I was just trying to be fair.

As soon as I got back from picking up Paul (1 am) I ran to the door and made sure that everyone that was outside made it in before he went on. I would have been there earlier but Paul over slept. LOL.

Peace.

Louis.

After reading all the criticisim, I'm starting to think that I must be attending a different club. I may just be lucky, but I've never had any problems. After leaving Shroomy's party I made it to Space by 3:15-3:30, walked right into the club- absolutley no wait, I was even greeted with a smile by the cute lil' door girl, just payed my money and kicked back. It was great b/c i still caught almost 2 hours of PvD's set! The place was crazy packed.........killer vibe! No complaints.

The drive was rough......after about the first 30 minutes- I was wishing I would have opted for Radius w/ the crew instead. It was so bad, I went home and took a quick nap before hitting up Space for the afterhours!

**Sorry- I wasn't in much of a partying mood friday night, next time i'll be sure to take my "vitamins!"
