And YES, you can see the DJ booth from the second floor balcony. In fact, the second floor balcony is THE MONIEST place to watch the DJ from, cause you can see the turntables and the mixer and see what he's doing. As long as they don't hang shit from the rafters, that is. And it was my understanding that the second floor and up would be closed to all the non-foo-foo dirty ravers. So don't try sneaking up there with your Chalupa in hand, Vic, or I'll be sure to be at the top of the steps, holding my prawn sandwich in my left hand, while kicking you down the stairs with my right foot. I think the chill out area for you povs is out in the front room, where they will be piping sound from the back room into the front room, and where they will have a video screen with shots from the DJ booth. Sounds a lot like watching MTV to me. But, I guess you get what you pay for. I always go up and lean on the railings and watch what the DJs are doing, whether they correct while they're mixing a track in, if they just use the pitch control or touch the platter, how long it looks like it takes them to beat match, etc. The only better spot would be in the booth itself so that I can see what they're doing on the mixer. I was under the impression that the little area with the chairs across from the bar on the second floor was the area that'd be ropped off (along with the third floor I guess).
