YO man i told u i was gonna hook it up, so here we go....

All i have to say is johnny is the friggin man, i was talkin to him for a bit and it is really gettin to him that all of you keep rippin on him, i mean he is the one that makes that party what it is, despite what all of you may think. he is one of the best djs around, and i think if u are rippin him it is because u are just too spoiled. I mean if u dont like his style that is one thing, but like he said he also has a club he has to keep people inside of...right. so that means if he has to drop a track or two to keep the hot ladies comin back, u should all appreciate that i mean i know i dont want a sausage party at roxy , even if that would mean he was gonna only drop the tracks u want to hear. PLUS... if it wasnt for johnny, none of u would have those nice little VIP cards to get in there every week with no lines and no fees. he is the one that makes all of that possible, u think the club really wants 50-100 cpers gettin in there every week without payin...cmon now i think u are all smarter than that. but i am gonna stop now, i would like to see some feedback on this.

godfatherbam - I am totally with you on this! some people just have no respect, and are low life lewsers that know nothing about the industry or the music. Aparently they don't like women either. There is not much you can do about it though. There is always going to be shit talkers, who have nothing better to do then complain. They also don't know how good they have it in nyc. Try going to a club in another city, and see if you like it. When i travel to other citys I have the hardest time finding a club with a Dj that fits my standards. So anyway to the board members who have nothing better to do then talk shit about the only dj that gave us a party, quit your bitching.. I for one, look forward to every friday and can't wait to get threw that door, don't let it get to you jv.

I totally agree hun.. I still love Vicious.. there is barely a time where every single track dropped at the club is on your favorites list..

I will always send my thanks out to Johnny Vicious.. he was the first NYC DJ I ever heard, and I absolutely fell in love with his sound and his mixing abilities.. opening night.. at his Tunnel residency.. ever since then I've been a follower, and I appreciate every little effort he gives to us..

Afterall, like godfatherbam said.. what about all those CP cards we all have?? What about the night that everyone (male and female) got in free before 12am for his birthday and then him standing on stage in front of everyone announcing that he was gonna do it again next week!!

What about Vicious being down on the main part of the floor in front of the DJ booth jumping around supporting his good friend Mad Myles?? How can you not respect someone like Vicious??

Frankly, I liked the JV from SF and the Tunnel better, but that's just my opinion. On a board with thousands and thousands of people you can't expect everyone to like a particular DJ's style. And just because he's a good guy doesn't mean people have to like him. Criticism, if presented tactfully, is not disrespect.

I think Tiesto is the world's best DJ, but does everyone agree? Of course not! People are gonna have their opinions and they shouldn't be discouraged from presenting them so long as those opinions are more substantive than "JV sucks."

I hear you. It should go without saying, but people should only talk if they have actually heard the guy.

This is true, however, I think we are referring more to the people that go to Roxy every week and then every week consistently complain about Vicious' set..

If you don't like Vicious anymore, then stop going to the damn party where he is the resident!! That only makes sense!! If I don't like a DJ then OBVIOUSLY I'm not gonna go every week to hear him/her spin..

The complaining about Vicious is just getting old from the same people.. :blown:

i agree 100%

but the people who have been knocking him are not doing it 'tactfully' and whether they mean for it to come out that way or not, it is coming across as disrespect. And that is not cool.

Saying someone sucks is not a good way to express your opinon--everyone is entitled to one, but think before you type on here. For real.

A lot of you who hate and then say "so i finally went to roxy and it sucked" ya'll didnt even give it a chance...showing up with a negative mind is as good as staying home and brooding your hate thru a message board.

Much love to Johnny and the whole roxy crew--Keep doing your thing----

. . . Actually Godfather, you can . . . it all depends on the people who are listening . . . Look at who just left Exit, then examine the fact that Exit is one of the biggest money making cows in the city's nightlife . . . now ask yourself: How could such a shitty DJ get such a big gig???. . .

. . .It's all about the "spin" the handlers put on it . . . and the ears of the people in the crowd . . . heck . . . you'd get a roaring applause if you put a crowd of poopy-porno addicts in a room full of Brahma Bulls . . .

. . . can ya dig? . . .

Johnny has been around long enough where he can disregard garbage posts by people with nothing else better to say. Not everyone is going to like him. To be honest, the fact that this post exists at all only makes his "image" look worse. Roll with the good/bad and move on. If you know what yer about, you shouldn't really care so much what EVERYONE thinks. He's a grown man. Its all good.

I may not totally enjoy the particular of style of music he spins, but i'm sure as hell not going to post about it.

I have as much respect for the man as i do for any other DJ who's been there and has been so much a part of it all.

Looking at it now, criticism is one thing - looking at how the tracks are woven together, the techniques used, the flow created, etc. Just like criticizing artwork.

That's not what i see a lot of though - a lot of the people who offer critique stop short at "JV sucks blah blah, Danny Tenaglia This, Tiesto and Junior Vasquez that, roxy this"

instead of bitching, how about offering HONEST and POSiTIVE criticism. I sure as hell wouldn't appreciate people ripping on me for doing my job just because i didn't cater to their every need.

this is why NYC has plenty of DIFFERENT clubs

good thread jay... I don't see the haters responding... I don't even pay them any mind... Vicious lays it down sick each time no matter what he's spinning... He is truely a class act by giving us Vip cards, free admission, to come to meet ups, to dance on stage with us. Much love Johnny.

I am so with you on this one cintron.......critisizing djs for what they play instead of how they play is one of the most ignorant things someone who calls themselves a music fan could do. For instance.....I hate country music, can't stand to listen to it, but I'm not about to say that Garth Brooks is an untalented piece of shit that should have stayed on the ranch and milked cows for a living..........

When I go to hear vicious spin, I know exactly what style I'm about to hear. I am not enveloped in it, but I enjoy and respect it. Usually after Roxy I go to Vinyl to hear another of my favorite djs spin. Those are two opposite ends of the spectrum......hard, vocal trance to deep, dark, dirty house. I perfer one style to the other, but I'm not going to say the other dj sucks because I don't like the style. People say Scribble sucks because he plays vocals and commercial stuff.......but he is very good for doing what he does and mixes with good transitioning and can keep a crowd moving. People say Draper sucks. He trainwrecks with CD's and kills the flow constantly, he sucks. The criticisms I hear often on this board are more along the lines of he played too many vocals or why did he play that song or howcome it didn't sound like Peters.......make a critique on the way he played.

Oh i WILL be the one to say it then.

Garth Brooks should've stayed on the ranch and milked cows for a living, the untalented guitar playing boom-microphone dog& pony show boot-wearin', bigass beltbuckle havin' lowdown dirty whiskey drinkin' piece of talentless shit that he is.

I HATE COUNTRY MUSIC.

so what if im that ignorant just for once. ;)

i just wont tell garth that he sucks on a board he reads, that's all.
