  4. :o http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/2067223.stm Wednesday, 26 June, 2002, 18:00 GMT 19:00 UK Semen 'makes women happy' Young men holding a condom packet The scientists said people should still practise safe sex Women exposed to their partner's semen during sex may find themselves feeling happier than those who use a condom, say scientists. Scientists in the US believe the mood-altering hormones in semen absorbed through the vagina help to boost women's mood. Semen contains a range of hormones, including testosterone and oestrogen, both of which have been shown to improve mood. We are not advocating that people abstain from using condoms Gordon Gallup However, they warned that their findings should not be used to encourage people to practise unsafe sex. Gordon Gallup and colleagues at the State University of New York divided 293 female students into groups on the basis of how often their partners wore condoms. Mood tests They used standard psychological tests to assess how happy they were and their overall mood. They found that women whose partners never used condoms were happiest. They were followed by women whose partners sometimes used condoms. Women whose partners always used or usually used condoms were less happy. The study, details of which are published in New Scientist magazine, also found that a lack of sexual intercourse made some women depressed. Women whose partners never or sometimes used condoms became more depressed the longer they went without sex. However, there was no similar pattern for those women whose partners usually or always used condoms. The scientists also found that depression and suicide attempts were more common among those women whose partners used condoms regularly. Further evidence Mr Gallup told the magazine that an extended study on more than 700 women has backed up these findings. He added that other factors such as how often the women had sex, the strength of their relationships, their personalities or the use of oral contraceptives did not affect the overall conclusions. Mr Gallup said the findings may also apply to women who engage in unprotected oral sex and people who engage in anal sex. But he said further research was needed in these areas. But Mr Gallup, whose study will be published in the journal Archives of Sexual Behaviour, urged couples to continue to practise safe sex. "I want to make it clear that we are not advocating that people abstain from using condoms," he said. "Clearly an unwanted pregnancy or a sexually transmitted disease would more than offset any advantageous psychological effects of semen."
  5. Miami is kinda busy at the moment with other things. When are you going to be in Miami? What type of music do you want? Do you care about the music or the " hot spots, and celeb factor" places? Are you hot? POD can you guys please make a sticky on these topics for people visiting
  6. Where are you living now? What type of work / career do you do? Do you like traffic? Can you speak Speak Spanish? Do you like really hot and humid weather? Do you like open green spaces parks, and nature or do you like concrete and pavement? Do you like genuine people and want many people you can say hello to, or two or three good freinds. Care about bling bling and money? Those are the negatives and some of the reasons I moved away. Miami and South Florida is a great place for me to visit, but not to live since I like more down to earth people, more green space, change of seasons. It was hard to work all day when i could see the beach and water and not be there? I lived in Ft Lauderdale for years and worked in Weston and Boca, and went out all over. That is my take. Don't get me wrong, there are many good things about the area also , but others will chime in.

  17. I pretty much knew it wasn't from Robin Williams and knew it was a hoax, but I posted it as a joke and a few of the point are good and others are way off base for sure.
  18. Robin Williams is a bit of a nut case even for a comedian, but he has some ideas worth thinking about here.... The Plan! You gotta love Robin Williams...... Even if he's nuts! Leave it to Robin Williams to come up with the perfect plan. What we need now is for our UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message. Robin Williams' plan...(Hard to argue with this logic!) "I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace. So, here's one plan." 1) "The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those 'good ole boys', we will never "interfere" again. 2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany, South Korea, the Middle East, and the Philippines. They don't want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence. 3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom or where they are. They're illegal!!! France will welcome them. 4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit!!!! No one from a terrorist nation will be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers. 5) No foreign "students" over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home baby. 6) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while. 7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go some place else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.) 8) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not "interfere." They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them are stolen or given to the army. The people who need it most get very little, if anything. 9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island some place. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens. 10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us "Ugly Americans" any longer. The Language we speak is ENGLISH...learn it...or LEAVE...Now, isn't that a winner of a plan? "The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying 'Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses.' She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'you want a piece of me?' "
  19. The Space lineup looks good, but I don't see anything that is majorly different from the past few years. It says consistency for sure, but not WOW

  21. A very good article I thought everyone should read, Well Said Oscar. PICK AND CHOOSE from Remix Magazine By Oscar G of Murk Jul 1, 2005 12:00 PM In my experience, only one thing truly sets a DJ apart: programming! The way a set is put together is crucial to a great night. Many times, new DJs are so concerned with the technical aspect of the art that they totally neglect that most important and basic element. Having heard the right track at the right time is usually what the audience remembers the next day. Memories are made from those magic moments when the DJ suddenly sneaks in your favorite tune at just the right time; sometimes, it is a well-placed classic that takes the audience up a notch. The truth is, beat mixing is a skill that you must learn, but programming is a talent that you must possess. Often, when I play at different clubs or events, they have an opening DJ — a very important job that is often overlooked. I would recommend to any DJs who are trying to make names for themselves to take every opportunity to do opening slots. The opener sets the tone for the entire night. As the resident at Space in Miami for five years, there were many times when I would play 10-hour sets. But the first two hours of those nights were the most important because they would let people know what to expect in terms of vibe and energy on that given night. Patience is a huge part of this process. You are setting a groove and getting people in the mood. Anyone can come in and bang out all the latest floor-movers for a couple of hours, but only those who know the craft can tell a story. KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE Before a gig, regardless of where it is, I always try to be prepared for any type of situation. On any given night, I may feel it's right to go into a classic set, or maybe a more laid-back set is in order. Regardless of what the vibe may be, I always want to be prepared. Years ago, my friend Danny Tenaglia, whom I admire, told me something that was extremely helpful. At the time, he was the resident at Twilo in New York City. I was there listening to him one night, and in the middle of his set, he dropped a remix of Toni Braxton's “Unbreak My Heart.†At first, I was surprised, but when I saw the audience's reaction, it made total sense. The whole club went nuts because he snuck it in there at the perfect time. The next day, we were talking about the night, and I asked him about playing that tune, which was very unlike his usual style. He said, “I am a professional, and I'm always prepared for whatever it takes to make the party happen. We are entertainers, and that is always most important.†Usually, you have a couple of tunes in your bag that you know are going to rock the floor. I like to spread these tunes out strategically throughout a set. A common mistake that young jocks make is shooting their load too soon and running out of ammunition. I like to use samples and loops that hint at these bigger tunes throughout the set to create anticipation. This teasing technique is effective for keeping the audience's interest and making the big tunes all the more dramatic when you finally play them. PEAKS AND VALLEYS A good set must have ups and downs, but you must be careful not to go too drastically one way or the other. The most important thing is programming the valleys in your set: These are the tracks that define you as a DJ. Knowing how to get a groove going and energy bubbling before you drop the bombs is essential. The way you set up the big tunes and when you drop them is also crucial to the dancefloor. I was lucky to get the opportunity years ago to tour with Tony Humphries in Italy. Humphries is a legend in house music and was a huge inspiration to me early on. I got to know him a little bit and picked his brain on long car rides through Italy. He told me something after one of our gigs that I will never forget. He said, “You always have to play for the girls in the room. Guys like girls, and girls like songs, so you have to give them the songs. If the girls are happy, the party is happening!†BE ORIGINAL There are a lot of DJs out there these days, and it is harder than ever to stand out among them. I always try to keep a very open mind when it comes to the music I select. I try to stay away from being stuck on a particular sound or genre, because I think it is important to mix it up and try new things. I receive countless promos every week from all over the world and go record shopping, as well, so I spend several hours a week just listening to new music. This is probably the most important part of what I do as a DJ — this is the work you put in that pays off when you are rocking the party. I try to stay away from charts and reviews because, in the end, you must stand apart from the other jocks, and the only way to do that is to be original and true to your own unique sound. In an age in which digital downloading is commonplace and every Tom, Dick and Harry seems to have access to every new tune the day after it is recorded, it is harder and harder for jocks to stand out. Now more than ever, programming and music selection are what define you as a DJ. Beat mixing and technical skills are a requirement — and if they're stellar, that's a bonus — but programming is first and foremost.
