  1. GusGus with Special Guests Kiko King & Creativemaze GusGus is from Reykjavík, Iceland. They were founded in 1995. Gus Gus' music is eclectic, and although primarily classified with techno, trip-hop, and house music, it has experimented with numerous other styles. The group has also remixed several famous artists, including Björk, Depeche Mode, Moloko, and Sigur Rós . Added to this, it released the song "Desire" with Ian Brown in January 2004. A remix of the track "Purple" appeared in remixed form on Paul Oakenfold's successful trance compilation called Trancepo r t . GusGus on Tour with their new album „Mexico“ It is difficult and also a little lazy to squeeze GusGus into a genre drawer. That drawer would make no sense. Like an entry in a world-renowned encyclopaedia which would list Icelanders under "genres": "Techno, House, as well as in the past Jazz, Rock, Downtempo, Ambient". Such comments wouldn´t bother GugGus. GusGus always do their own thing. This shows itself once again with their new album "Mexico" released in June .Their ninth album is a buzz of electronic influences, a pure rejoicing in warm vocals and exact-fitting beats. There is the solid house stomper "Another Life" as well as the dense atmosphere of an after-hour melancholic ballad in "This Is What You Get When You Mess With Love". One may be curious how Gus Gus convert these songs into their famous live sets as they tour throughout the world. An already sweaty crowd being confronted with the album opener "Obnoxiously Sex", or with the cool title track "Mexico" – a growling, demanding instrumental. And then there are still the well-known hits such as "David", "Shaving", "Need In Me" or "Hold You" which all make the audience happy, dancing bunnies. As you may know from the concerts in the past, these will all be performed in perfectly visualized borders, crossing between electro and pop, with various singers, an impressive light show and especially with dozens of songs which will not permit you to stand still. The band's name refers to the 1974 German film Ali: Fear Eats the So u l by Rainer Werner Fassbinder, where a female character is cooking couscous for her lover, pronouncing it Gus Gus . 2. 1015 Folsom presents RUSKO with MUCH More TBA! Thursday October 30TH / 10P-3A / 21+ Rusko ruskoonfire.com Rusko on Facebook Rusko on Soundcloud Hello, world: Rusko kindly requests that you wake the f~~k up. The Leeds-born DJ/producer who ascended with the original U.K. dubstep movement – and gave it one of its first and most enduring anthems, a bolt of foul-mouthed rave lightening called "Cockney Thug" – is here to tell you that music is not about labels and dance is no fad.. "The sound of my early releases was very dub-influenced, and just good, fun, bouncy vibes," he says. "The majority of dubstep at the moment I think is aggressive, and I don't like angry music; I don't want to be angry in a club. So I wanted to make something really happy, but still heavy." "Happy and heavy" is a proper way to describe the vibe that has carried Rusko from the first moments of dubstep's life to the biggest stages in the world; from a single, seminal bass wobble to a swath of sounds that can't be capped in a few simple syllables. He might be one of the guys who started it all – but he's sure as hell not going to leave it at that. A staple of the global electronic underground, Rusko has packed nightclubs, concert venues and festivals across the world, and not only dance-dedicated ones: From Electric Daisy Carnival and Ultra Music Festival, to Coachella and Lollapalooza; from Germany's Melt! to Australia's Good Vibrations. He created the majority of "O.M.G.!," his hard-hitting debut artist album, on the road, cutting tracks by day, and testing them on living, breathing dance floors by night. But for the follow-up, he wanted to try a different strategy. "From January to late September 2011, I didn't make a single track," he says. "I spent all that time touring around the world, building up a massive swell of ideas inside me." With the long tour done, the artist took two months completely off and ensconced himself in a tiny one-room studio in California's Hollywood Hills, with no phone reception and spotty-at-best Internet access. The hermit style paid off. "I made all 14 songs in 8 weeks," he says. "I didn't try any out like before; I just stayed in the same headspace and vibe, and made the whole album in one go. You can really tell: Compared to 'O.M.G.!,' it sounds like one crazy Technicolor song!" Back in 2007 – when "dubstep" was an idea known to a critical few – Rusko and DJ/producer Caspa lit the spark with a dubstep-dedicated mix for London nightclub Fabric's influential compilation series Fabriclive. Rusko's "Cockney Thug" was the centerpiece, evangelizing the bass "wobble" that's since set the world on fire – a seminal moment that the Guardian Uk called one of the 50 key events in dance music history. The young artist released a slew of singles and EPs, including the "Babylon" series, which shows his transition from happier rave to heavier dub. Remix commissions came in droves: Rusko has put his buoyant spin on over 20 tracks, including Kid Cudi's "Day 'N' Night," Lady Gaga's "Alejandro," and Kid Sister's "Pro Nails." He also produced the majority of "Maya," M.I.A's third and highest-charting studio album. In 2010, Rusko's "Cali Anthem" becoming the first dubstep tune to be listed on Us radio, and "O.M.G.!" was released on Mad Decent/Downtown. Containing tracks like the raucous "Woo Boost" and elegantly aggressive anthem "Hold On" (featuring Amber Coffman from The Dirty Projectors), it cemented the young artist as one of the leaders of the new dance movement. So world, if you're awake, now hear this: Rusko is here to roll the beats, and dance music will never be the same. 3. Born in Haiti and raised in the city of Montreal, Canadian artist Kaytranada has experienced an explosive rise in the past couple of years with his irresistible production and live sets, but the hard work and success did not happen over night. Before touring the globe and amassing millions of hits online with his series of beloved tracks and mixes, the young man came up as a true disciple, absorbing hip hop and RnB culture since his childhood and finding ways to make the music his own. Since the age of fourteen, when he first began to DJ and the following year when his brother introduced him to music production software, his output has been relentless. As he explains, “after he showed me the basics, from that day on I couldn’t stop making beats,†pumping out a beat a day for the next couple of years and soon after self-releasing a series of EPs and beat tapes that quickly began to expand his reach. Official releases on HW&W and Jakarta Records soon spread his name like wildfire and some instant-classic remixes by the likes of Missy Elliot, Janet Jackson, TLC, Danny Brown and others have cemented his reputation and his sound; an undeniable swing of the drums comparable to Dilla’s, a signature soulful touch in the melodies, and a healthy dose of funky bass lines. In the past year, he was approached by Brodinski to drop the single “Free Things In Life†on the hotly-tipped French label Bromance, has headlined tours in Europe, Australia and North America, and released his newest single and video “At All†which has already conquered dance floors worldwide and introduced his face to the world with an unforgettable video. Now, as he continues to bridge the gap between the dance world and hip hop/RnB, he is prepping a solo album for 2014 and a series of high profile collaborations that will confirm his position as one of the most important producers in today’s musical landscape. ~AXS
  4. Saturday, August 30th - Mighty Real welcomes New York City based, Grammy Award nominated DJ/Producer/Remixer, Todd Terry w/ Mighty Real resident, David Harness. Todd Terry has been engulfed in dance music since he first started listening to European dance music records while growing up in Brooklyn. Already devoted to turntables, he heard something different in those tracks, and he “went for the difference. I never got a break in New York, but England happened right away, so I catered to them.†In any event, the Todd Terry sound was born. By 1988, Todd Terry hit big in England and Europe, and his notoriety was making its way back to the U.S. In addition to DJ appearances, Todd was cutting his classic underground tracks A Day In The Life, Weekend, and Can You Party, released under monikers such as the Todd Terry Project, House Of Gypsies, and Royal House, all considered essential and ground breaking. Todd is one of the world’s most celebrated figures in dance music. With almost two decades of dance floor domination under Todd’s belt the quality of his productions goes from strength to strength. Welcome to the church of house music presided over by Todd the God. Are you a believer? http://www.toddterry.com/ http://djdavidharness.com/ ALL Events At Mighty Are 21+

  11. We've always had a love affair with San Francisco ever since our best friends and Resident DJs, Bells & Whistles, moved there from San Diego all those years back. Something about the city and the way of life up there has always inspired us to be more artistic, more open to culture, and just be generally better people. In fact, the first time most of our crew heard proper underground House was when the SF homies dragged us to Claude VonStroke's 40th Birthday party in 2008. Then we got schooled during Lee Burridge's epic set at LoveFest. Those were really our first real introductions to the city and we've been dying to do something up there ever since. Now that Desert Hearts is headed full force towards our 2 Year Anniversary Festival and the launch of our Desert Hearts Records imprint on July 15th, we figured now would be the perfect time to show San Francisco just how much we've embraced the love. On Sunday, August 3rd, Desert Hearts is coming to San Francisco for our very first installment of City Heartsan all day party from noon to midnight on one of SF's best sound systems. We decided to leave the headliners out of this for a proper introduction to our crew. House, Techno, & Love is what we're all about. We Are All Desert Hearts. 13. Design is at the heart of this project: first the instruments, then the songs and finally the masks.* Whilst massively prolific, a minimalist ethos runs through the work and style of SBTRKT, not just in the name but in the precision of the sonics and arrangements. After dropping audacious white-label re-rubs of Goldie & Radiohead in 2009,* SBTRKT has announced himself in 2010 with releases on dubstep stalwarts Ramp + Brainmath* & eclectic indie label, Young Turks. Remixes for M.I.A., Modeselektor & Basement Jaxx have left the clubs wanting more and the masked man has obliged in the form of recent collaborative bangers w/ Sinden & Sampha.* Whilst record heads and shop salesmen argue over whether SBTRKTs sound is more techno,neo-garage or dubstep, the forthcoming album plus releases on Tempa, Young Turks and Monkeytown place him comfortably in any category he wishes to occupy... ~AXS

  18. Buoy began in 2009. After leaving NYC for the promise of high mystery, he found inspirations abound and decided to turn these into the art we know as song. Hand over hand the journey begins.
  19. The Disco Biscuits are an entirely different band today than they were when they first broke out of Philadelphia in the mid-90s. That's not to say that they've abandoned their foundations, switched gears entirely, or set sail for distant shores. The Disco Biscuits are still very much the trailblazers of "trance-fusion" that they've always been, bridging the gap between electronic music and jam bands. They remain rock pioneers whose soul belongs as much to marathon dance parties as it does to live improvisational journeys. They still employ emerging technologies to help them create music that is 100 percent human, although perhaps not entirely of this earth. But after spending the past three years in the studio during breaks in touring they've resurfaced with Planet Anthem, a record that is undeniably unlike anything else they've ever created before. "Our only goal was to make a great album," says keyboardist Aron Magner. "That was the only concept from the very beginning." But Planet Anthem is more than a great album it's about to become a reference point for a whole set of new weapons in the Disco Biscuits' arsenal. "It's all about making sure that you have the material that you feel confident is, without a doubt, going to make a difference in your career," bassist Marc Brownstein explains. "We want to have this album be a game changer for us." In the past, the Disco Biscuits would try to convert their most recent live songs into studio versions, but with Planet Anthem the band is eagerly attempting to do the opposite taking new studio compositions and making them a seamless part of their live repertoire. It's a challenge that will no doubt shape the new face of Disco Biscuits jams. Indeed, now that Planet Anthem is finally complete, the Disco Biscuits can at long last return to their primary function as one of America's most in-demand live jam bands. And the new material will make the trek with them, adapting at every turn. Says Brownstein: "People might hear a new song like 'Loose Change' and be a little freaked out that it's a pop song, but we're going to take that song live and we're going to jam the s~~t out of it." In other words, meet the new Biscuits, at once much evolved yet still much the same as the old Biscuits. This is still the band that hosts Camp Bisco each summer, a three-day festival which they anchor while bringing the "trance-fusion" style to life with back-to-back sets by some of the world's top electronic acts, jam bands, MCs and DJs. They will continue to headline prestigious venues like Red Rocks, tear up stages at world-renowned festivals like Japan's Fuji Rock, and embark on tours during all four seasons. But Brownstein is right Planet Anthem is going to be a game changer. It's a game where everybody wins, but the Disco Biscuits remain firmly in the lead. ~AXS
  20. Terminate was formed in late 2009 by guitarist/vocalist John Porada and drummer Jim Smith. After releasing a successful demo in early 2011, our lineup was completed with Tom Cardella on guitar and Alfred Mulle on bass. Consisting of veterans of the Chicago metal scene as well as the New York metal scene, the band has quickly made a name for itself, catching the attention of not only our home city of Chicago, but also a core of underground fans across the world. The mission of the band is simple; to play death metal the way it was meant to be played. Taking influence from death metal stalwarts Bolt Thrower and Autopsy, while maintaining a melodic sensibility akin to Swedish greats Dismember and Entombed is what defines our sound.
