  1. ITS NOT A GAY CLUB! jeez. you people really need to get over this ish.
  2. for once, i'm pleased you took all those stupid philosophy classes . . . good point!!!
  3. there's your answer i've been there a couple times since they reopened, definitely liked it better before. the only time i actually enjoyed it was for roger sanchez, and he could be playing in penn station and i'd still go for it so im biased i suppose.
  4. heaven forbid theres gay people at a nightclub in nyc
  5. that still isn't their aim . . . they have a lot of parties booked on friday nites there, not ones that necessarily target a gay crowd . . . last week was a fashion magazine . . . not all are for the general public anyway, thats why there was a cocktail party and guestlists last friday that everyone had drama with. i have absolutely no problem going to a gay party . . . and i know plenty of men and women who are exactly the same. nightlife isn't all about going out to pick up all the time . . . enjoy the music, enjoy the scene, enjoy the people you're out with. i certainly doubt crobar's intent is to keep straight people from going there, that's completely ridiculous. as a matter of fact, if that were their intention, they'd be like junior's new party @ sf where girls are having a more difficult time getting through the door . . . which i'm sure will eventually calm down a little . . . now a little more rant/defense of crobar & the gay population: who is anyone to judge people based on their sexual orientation? and some of the best parties in nitelife's history ~ before my time ~ were gay, or had gay promoters etc . . . everyone knows that gay men are the best to be out partying with . . . who gives a shit lol . . . and if this were a school or office something else and everyone was bitching about the homosexual population, they'd be getting sued lol just enjoy it . . . crobar's aim towards a fashionable, trendy crowd with a tougher door policy does not make it a gay club . . . sure that may draw more of that population than a party thats guido filled with the guys looking to take home chicks, but i think it's nice to see somewhere that the way you dress matters etc, and isn't a small venue like rehab or pangaea with no cabaret and may require bottle service to get past the door. i'm still giving crobar a thumbs up
  6. i am quoting the original post: "For the Management you should know that the door thing was very rude and $40 bucks each to get in. By the time My girl and I got in checked our coats and had 1 drink I had already forked over $120 plus tips. This won't last long" i have been fortunate enough to not have all those extra expenses @ crobar, so i was just a little amazed that it could be so much . . . maybe the original post is an embellishment . . . thats what im trying to say.
  7. last week there was a santa claus convention in nyc . . . the entire group went over there dressed up . . . i couldn't believe my eyes when i walked in, too funny . . . but it definitely wasn't a gimmick by the club, those people were all here in ny for some shit where they all dress like santa, lol. i'm sure that freaked unknowing people out . . . if i hadn't been told thats what was going on, i would have walked in and been like w t f. i agree that spirit is way different from what people in nyc are used to . . . the concept works very well in europe, and just needs a little adaptation to make it suitable to nyc. in the original spirit, people will go without the need for a big-name dj or all of the other stuff people here are looking for . . . the owner has since decided that should be changed, and now look . . . nye with the low end specialists, dirty vegas, and astro&glyde. things are in the works, and until all the little things are ironed out, what is the point of being open more than one nite a week? the venue is doing very well as an entertainment complex, and the food in the restaurant is amazing - i was a little iffy on the vegan idea, but ate some of it last week and was like whOa yummy! spirit is not some big-club-competitor in nyc looking to put the places that are strictly clubs out of business . . . there is a higher purpose there . . . and it is used for a variety of things. i don't see it going out of business that quickly
  8. umm yeah . . . last nite was the queer eye snowball . . . hosted by the queer eye for a straight guy fab 5 . . . lol . . . i would expect from that there would be a predominantly gay crowd. ~ and 'By the time My girl and I got in checked our coats and had 1 drink I had already forked over $120 plus tips.' woooooow. thats a bit excessive. lol
  9. thank you so much for everything last nite matt . . . totally hooked everything up for us music was amazing . . . expect nothing less from LES. mac n ali totally came through . . . and rob james was good as well definitely a nicer looking venue that most places on li . . . staff was very pleasant too . . . free booze from the one bartender all nite . . . in addition to the bottles (thanks again matt!) had a good time last nite . . . interesting change of pace from the usual. it was great to see everyone last nite . . . no shout outs since half the people i would were at my house
  10. the owner is purposely only keeping it open one nite a week . . . the venue is used for a million different things during the week, it is not meant to solely be a nightclub. there will be a friday party starting at some point in the new year. in the mean time . . . totally worth checking out the space . . . don't cast doubt before you've even been inside. it's all about the experience.
  11. ya'll are totally welcome to, seriously . . . i don't want anyone gettin too mangled then drivin all the way back to where they came from . . .anyway ali wants to play afterhours before they leave for rhode island lol
  12. glad to see everyone had a good time adam - so sorry for not bein able to meet up at all this weekend . . . i was in the hospital friday and have been resting all weekend . . . ~ brandie
  13. Comps are under Adam's name . . . I said theres a large group gonna coming in so there should be no issues. enjoy your nite . . . with the holiday weekend, i don't know if it'll be busy or not . . . but i'm sure you'll find a way to amuse yourselves ~ brandie
  14. i hope you arent referring that comment to ME since i'm trying to help you . . . despite that its not a copy of my quote
  15. doesnt quite work that way . . . unlike a regular nightclub . . . because when i have parties that large, i have to have a contract signed that you're coming in and spending a whole bunch - like . . . $20x30peeps = doesnt go over well with the owners . . .when theres no contract that you'll be spending $$ on open bar or something like that. esp. when if like 10 people show up i look dumb. ~ brandie
  16. no biggie . . . just want to see if im lookin @ 100 people . . . or like 20, you know ~ brandie
  17. i told adam already, if you guys would just give me a number, i can take care of the entertainment fee at the door . . . and if all of a sudden 900 people wanted to go, i could knock the admission down to $5 . . . work with me people. i told adam i need to know sooner rather than later, so lets get this together people. ~ brandie
  18. There is no way the drinks and dances will be waived . . . with comped admission, the club has to make $$ from your group SOMEhow. As for the 'bitches being ruthless' . . . they get their money from people paying for the dances . . . if I had to take my clothes off for a living, I wouldn't want to give away comped dances either. We give comped dances for our bachelors or high rollers, etc - those who have already spent $$$$ at the club on the girls Brandie
