  1. Here's a few tips to surf anonymously: Use http://www.safeweb.com From there you can enter a URL /website address and surf and it will not be recorded by any firewall, or browser, and it should not save your user ID or password either. Also you might want to clear out the 'History' folder if you're using Internet Explorer or Netscape after you're done surfing. peace
  2. Not sure what parties are going down tonite for hip-hop, but Bob bar, Ludlow Bar, La linea are hip-hop bars on the lower east side. All pretty small and can get crowded, but decent hip-hop. Clubwise, NV and Cheetah have decent hip-hop on the weekends, not sure about Wednesday though.
  3. not sure what time I'm gonna hit the club, but defintely want to get there earlier to get some free CDs. I'll either be in the Pinky Room near the DJ booth or Main room near the open pit lounge near the crazy room. That's my two spots unless I'm rippin' it up on the dance floor. Maybe i'll wear my bright hot pink vintage shirt so I'm easily spottable.
  4. The disco balls is at the small open lounge right next to the Crazy room (plastic tubes) if I'm right. Party tonite sounds like it'll be kickin', I'm gonna try to make it, but I got have 8 AM meeting in the morning tomorrow , we'll see where fate takes me. If not I'll defintely be at there on Friday for the GBH CD release party. Looking forward to some kickin house and 2-step. Mugwump, I think I saw you doing the door on the 24th, I had my bday party there and saw someone beside the normal door crew there that fits your description exactly.
  5. For work biz. casual clothing, all my pants and many of my shirts are from BR. For club clothing though, I dont' get much from BR.
  6. For guestlist ($10 b4 1 AM) and party info, email party@broidy.com or go to http://www.broidy.com/party . GBH Presents The GBH CD Release Party at Centro-Fly This Friday is the Release Party for the GBH debut CD (available in stores from Monday September 11) and we are celebrating in style In the main room, the legendary John Acquaviva (http://www.john-acquaviva.com ) is making his first ever Centro-Fly appearance. John has played for us before at our last venue, and he was incredible. He is a legend in his own right as well as being well known as Ritchie Hawtin's recording and DJing partner (although his sound is house oriented). His music is widely loved, and partly due to the revolutionary Djing equipment he brings with him to his gigs, he is on a different level, technically, to anyone else you are likely to hear in a club. John will be joining Anthony Mac, who will be playing one or two tracks from the new GBH CD. Downstairs in the Pinky, the Stanton Warriors (http://www.stantonwarriors.com ) are back from the UK (where they are so huge, they are practically pop stars) with some more 2-step and breaks along with DJ Dinesh. The last time they played, they were responsible for probably the best night that the Pinky has ever seen. If you're into UK Garage/2-step and breaks, then you can't miss this. Meanwhile in the Tapioca room, Samantha Ronson joins Seth for some hip hop and rock & roll mayhem. CENTRO-FLY is located (45 W21 St. just off 6th Ave b/t 5th Ave)
  7. What type of lounge you looking for, posh/shi shi, or more chill? THe most exclusive lounges are usually Hotel lounges like Whisky Blue, Hudson Bar, Spread etc, most W hotel bars etc. Some union square lounges are Union bar, lemon, Belmount Lounge... Chelsea area has Nativa, Chelsea lounge, Punch. In the village there is Open Air, Leo Lounge, Veruka... In LES, there is Bar-B, Rivertown, Angel, Infrared .. just to name a few :-)
  8. Bar-B (LES), Open-Air (St.marks), and Infrared (deep LES) all are small lounges/bars that have a good mix of house music depending on the nite. A relatively new bar on the LES called Lotus Club (not the Lotus in the meat packing district) had some house spinning when i was there last time too, but then I was pretty drunk, drinks are cheap there. Fun though quite a bit too far down in the LES has decent house too.
  9. There's gonna be a party at Centro-fly on Sunday. Go to http://www.broidy.com/party or email party@broidy.com for guestlist. The Labor Day Weekend Party Main Room: General Midi (a.k.a. Starecase) Jeannie Hopper (of Liquid Sound Lounge) Thomas D playing funky house to progressive house Tapioca Room: John Casey and Greg Poole playing old-skool hip-hop, disco classics and rare grooves peace
  10. I have a few friends who give me such lame excuses why they don't want to come. And when they do come, they don't even understand the greatness of the DJs, or know the different between house, techno, dnB, etc. they think its all the same and say they like hip-hop better. Then I bring them to live freestyle hip-hop session to chill and they don't enjoy it either, saying they wanna hear commerical crap like Jay-Z or Juvenille. oh well, as long as I can enjoy it.
  11. As far as I know, the tapioca room on Friday and the Pinky room on Sunday will be closed. Penstar, you hear anything about this?
