That is not entirely true, it depends on what area you were in. I was in the Long Island area at the time and most, if not all, nextels were not working. Verizon,AT&T, and Cingular phones were all up before Nextel was, in that area at least. Nextel has the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. They will charge or tax you for every little penny they can get. I think the service sucks, I am switching to verizon when my contract is up. I love when I am talking on the phone and the call just stops and I get a call error. The phones themselves are pretty cool. I just got the i730 and i like it a lot.

I am all about eBay but in certain instances you get what you pay for. I really don't understand why you would want to connect a laptop to a wired network when you have a portable solution. Laptops are for portability.

You make a lot of valid points: Linux is a lot more secure then Windows...most large corporations have their networks set up in a linux enviroment. The security is a lot better. I am toying with Linux now. The IP errors can be a bitch, but , as you said, once you work out the kinks you are good to go. The time you spend running wires, drilling holes etc, can be equal to the time you spend configuring IPs.

I am not saying you would want to hook your PDA to your laptop/desktop. Your game system connects wirelessly through your router as oppose to the alternative. If you read what I wrote: Network != PDA Wireless is not perfect, but it is up and coming and coming fast at that. As far as security goes, Wi-Fi got a bad rap when tons of networks were set up with little to no security over the past few years. There are tons of free downloads to help increase security on your wireless network. I will give you the fact that wireless networks only use 40 bit encryption, but when AES emerges in the next year or so, security on WEP's will be greatly enhanced. I am not against wired networks, but in this field you have to keep up with technology.

There is a lot more then that... PDAs with wireless capabilities, you can hook your gaming system up to your wireless network, and they are making business netcams that are wireless now.

Not if you get the 100mbps adapters/cards. Wireless is the way of the future. It may be problematic now, but it is what networking is graduating to.

Go wireless, 802.11g . Each computer will need a wireless card/adapter.
