  1. Try to hit it up tonight, Mike. I'll be there after Ikon, maybe around the mid a.m. hours. I know you told me you weren't staying out too late, but I hope to catch you out tonight at either spot.
  2. Found dead. I just read about this on another forum and on CNN's website. http://edition.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/Music/08/06/rick.james/ Now Rob & K.C.'s track will have sentimental resonance whenever it's played....
  3. Rob is a fuckin veteran behind the tables - a veteran who knows exactly how to rock the house no matter where he's spinning. I'm ready for a phat night. Matt, I'll ring you later.
  4. I don't think the party at Discotheque is going to be an attempt to replicate the feeling that existed at Tunnel during Junior's residency. Also, I don't think it will be an attempt to milk that period. Junior doesn't throw parties like this all the time, so it's actually good to have them once in a while. There is a lot of good music now, but there is also a lot of good stuff from that period that people still crave to hear. A lot of those songs remind people of a great period of house music in NYC, even though that pd. wasn't so long ago. Taking it back a little bit every so often isn't such a bad thing, so long as it's done in good taste. I really enjoyed Arena classics at Earth before that venue shut down. Junior's classics nights are always great. This Friday should be a musical treat, and hopefully a great night. Obviously the good times we have now will never be the same as they were a few years ago, but that doesn't mean the good times have to end all together. As long as the truly talented djs of NY are still dedicated to what they love and do best, that's all that counts; I'll be there to listen. Good times have passed, but there will certainly be many more good times to come. We're not senior citizens yet.
  5. Music Makers - Future Primitive Space Frog - Follow Me Pullover - Hypertrophy Your Love is Taking me over - Knight Breed I Shall Not be Moved - Underground Ministries featuring Kenny Bobien Get This - Superchumbo Come Together - Junior (Junior's Revenge mix) Hands Up (This is the Police) - Sal Dano Rain - Brainbug Mission Ecstasy - The Horrorist Magic Orgasm - House Heroes (Club 69 Future Mix) That hard, rugged house track that had the sample from the song "Let the Bass Go" by that west coast rapper D.O.C. I think the house song song with the sample may have also been called "Let the Bass Go" or if not that, something else. Very phat track though.
  6. People will definitely be in attendance for this one. I'll be heading over there later in the morning.
  7. Matt, looking forward to seeing you tomorrow night!!
  8. Yep, you heard right!!! I'm pretty excited about this one too, and I'm glad to see some Long Island old school in the city again. Rob never ceases to impress me in the booth. I never thought I'd be hitting up the Exit space again, but Rob will tear shit up reaaaaaaal nice. The perfect way to start off what will be a PHAT friday night: Rob James 2 am till closing, then off to Junior @ Disco afterwards, depending on how late Rob spins. Damestik, I hope you're up for a phat night. It's been a while.
  9. Perhaps. All things considered, I think the ending is much better than it was in the first one. I also think Streep will most likely be a runner up for an Oscar nomination for her role. She did an excellent job.
  10. Saw this movie last night. Definitely an excellent remake of the original. Had the wholesome, qualitative feel of a mystery/suspense/thriller from the 1980s, with great acting all around by Meryll Streep, Denzel Washington, Jon Voight, and Liev Schreiber.
  11. LOL...I can picture myself on stage now, with a thick, furry Russian hat, my hands folded, and my legs kicking about furiously.
  12. My ability to rip shit depends mostly on who's spinning, and what's being spun. For instance, I can't get open to deep house, regardless of who's spinning it. I need agressive, bottom-heavy house to get me going, and it has to be dropped at the right pitch. I can't stand djs who play the nastiest beats too fast. I can't really describe my style, if I even have one, but THE MASK has seen me dance. Maybe he can come up with some kind of name for the way I dance, LOL. I never get on my hands and shit though; I'm a feet-only person, and I usually push them to the limit.
  13. Whether 100 or 1000 people show up, I'm sure Eddie will show them a good time.
  14. The Tunnel reunion party at IKON looks weak. I don't think it will draw much of a crowd. The Baez fans will eat it up though. I'm glad to see that Eddie is spinning somewhere. He's a class act, and has always been dedicated to his parties. I never thought I'd be hitting up Exit again, but I will definitely have to hit it up this upcoming Friday night for Rob James. If any of you guys heard him at Discotheque afterhours a few months ago with Razor, he littered the place with nasty beats.
  15. I'm not sure what the Tom Collins mix tastes like, but whenver I have a Collins, it tastes like slightly fizzy, chilled, sour lemon gin (or vodka, depending on how you prefer your Collins). I'm guessing the mix you're referring to is just a pre-made Sour/Club Soda concotion? Does the mix that's sold in the store have any alcohol in it?
  16. If I'm not mistaken, a Tom Collins is: Either Gin or vodka (it can be made with either one; I have it with Gin), Club Soda, and sour mix, shaken. It's pretty refreshing, and it fucks you up pretty nicely.
  17. Lately, I've been drinking Tom Collins.
  18. I'll probably swing through later in the morning, after having a few drinks somewhere in the city. Looks like this is a bad week for everyone, lol . It's all good. I'll be seeing most of you there for Tunnel Classics. Mattm20, Neptune on Saturday sounds pretty tempting. I just may join you guys, assuming I can get my rotars clipped in time before then. I'll call you and let you know what's up.
  19. Why don't you take a break from the city and head out to the Hamptons for Saturday night. Brazil has a mainfloor house party, as well as an outdoor area where hip hop is played. If the weather turns out to be nice, Brazil's a nice place to chill and have a few drinks.
  20. Apotheosis, NyBeauty, Iamsamurai, MattM20, Damestikprod, DJRobJames, those who I met at Disco, and anyone else.....what's on your agendas for tomorrow (Friday) night? Are you guys up for a meetup tomorrow night for Junior? If so, let me know. I'll be heading out to the city early for drinks, and then I'll probably head over to Disco around 11:30 or so. Hopefully the weather holds up. Let me know if any of you guys are down.
  21. Vaughn, what's up bro. I eat at the diner in Flushing, Queens (Main Street and Horace Harding). It's called "Palace Diner," and has a late 60's post modern type of look to it. The food is actually not that great, but it's the only thing within the vicinity that has decent food. Everything else is either Kosher or very oily (and shitty) Chinese food. I was actually hoping Rob would throw another shindig at his crib before the Summer comes to a quick end (mention it to him!!!!). I enjoyed myself a lot at the last one - really good vibes with all of us chilling out. I haven't gone out as of lately, but tomorrow night I'm most likely hitting up Discotheque for Junior. I emailed Big Matt to let him know what's up, but he hasn't gotten back to me. If you're up for it, hit me up via telephone (I PM'd you my number), and we can meet up, head out there, and get drunk as hell if you want. We all need to get together for a bash before the summer ends. Hit me up either way and let me know what you guys have planned for this weekend. Good to hear from you, bro.
  22. Pickles and coleslaw are standard, but from what I understand, pickles with mustard aren't. Personally, I prefer the darker, well-pickled, extra sour pickles.
