  1. It was just a matter of time: http://www.upcominghorrormovies.com/movies/childsplay5.jpg
  2. All I can really muster at this point is: WOW! Still hungover, big time. I can't even believe I'm up right now. My head is THROBBING. Let's see: Cover fee was a bit high, but the price was well worth it. As soon as I walked in there, around midnight, Razor was dropping some wicked house, and had the floor bouncing around with nothing but energy. Place filled up nicely, and the turnout wound up being great - not too packed to the point where you couldn't move around, but a very strong, energetic crowd. I started getting open as soon as I got in. I Couldn't help it - the beats were just just getting crazier, moving right through me, and my feet had to respond. The crowd was really absorbing everything that was being dropped last night, and everyone was just dancing their fuckin asses off. Deep Dish eventually came on and ROCKED the fuckin place for hours, dropping some of the nastiest tracks. They were having an awesome time feeding off the vibe from the crowd, and that was obvious in the way they spun. I did more shots, got done-the-fuck up, hit the floor again, and continued to get open to the point where I thought I was going pass out. I mean it when I say the music was just SUPERB and unstoppable all night long. Beautiful, consistent track selection from EVERYBODY who stepped in the booth. Razor graced the booth once again, and got fuckin dirty. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - Razor is one of the most skilled, talented djs in NY, and last night he reminded us all exactly how open he can get when he really wants to. Rob James took over in the late morning hours and just THRASHED the fuckin place. I always know when Rob gets in the booth, because the entire club starts quaking with bass like it hadn't at any previous moment during the night. I won't go on ad nauseum about how great he was, but let's just say he brought it just as beautifully and wickedly as I thought he would (as he always does). Track selection just kept building and building, and was nothing but pure wickedness. Soul-wrenching house music at its purest. Last night was probably the only party this year where I can say EVERYTHING was just perfect. Ever since I started my clubbing experiences, I've enjoyed so many greater nights out here on the Island - in the Hamptons - than I have in the City. We have so many talented djs out here on the Island, and they really made us look good last night with the musical treat they all gave us. At those moments when you think Long Island is devoid of anything real, these guys come along and remind us that that's simply not the case. Razor & Rob, I don't care what anyone says - you guys can't be fucked with on the one and two's, and I will always respect what you guys have done for L.I., NYC, and the overall scene here in New York. Thank you for giving us a REAL party last night. We've all been craving for something like this all summer, and last night, we finally got it. I was glad to see nothing but familiar faces around last night - good people around me with good vibes, just sharing a great experience, and showing love for a great party. MattM20, glad to see you that you enjoyed last night for what it was. As always, your presence there made the night all the more chill. Rob, Razor, Matt, Ozzy, K.C., Joe, Lynn, Mike Finesse, and everyone else we vibed with - glad you all enjoyed yourselves. Again, a big thank you to Deep Dish for putting this party together, and thank you to all of our L.I. veterans who put it down so nicely in the booth last night. You guys never cease to amaze me. Last night was truly reminiscent of some of the greatest nights I've ever had out here on the Island, and it's hard to re-create that type of vibe, especially in light of how the scene is at this moment. A purely perfect way to bring an end to the summer.
  3. Try out IKON. You'll find hip hop and house there.
  4. The Flyer's phat. Too many venues forget that humor is can be a big plus on a club flyer.
  5. I know that many people on this board aren't too fond of Junior, but when he drops some dirty tribal, he does it unlike many djs in Nueva York. He's definitely earned a spot on that list. His tribal selection is more than just hard though; it's also wacky, off the wall, and soulful.
  6. As was said before, Deep Dish this saturday at Brazil. There's another thread about it, but try to make it out!! You'll dance your ass off. Razor and Rob James will also be in the house later in the morning. Party's going to be wild. Damestik, I'll see you this Saturday. You heading out with Rob on Friday?
  7. I think I've had more than my fill over the past 8 years. Nightlife sucked big dick this summer, at least with respect to the types of venues I enjoy, so I didn't really miss anything. Time to buckle down and take an extended break, at least until the Bar's out of the way. Work's getting pretty hectic as well. This Saturday will be my last venture for a while, and it will be spent wisely in the Hamptons at Brazil, listening to two of my favorite djs. You guys should make it down and listen to some good house for a change.
  8. So who's down for a little Hamptons grand finale this Saturday night at Brazil? Lineup will be: (1) Deep Dish from open until early morning hours. (2) Razor after Deep Dish (3) Dj Rob James joining in the set with Razor I don't think there's much that needs to be said about this lineup. It doesn't really get any nicer than this. Anyone down for a meetup of some sort, or even a pre-game blunt session, hit me up via PM. Hope to see the usual crew in attendance, as well as all you other house fanatics. It'll be a treat.
  9. Good stuff, Mike. Sorry I couldn't make it out.
  10. I didn't even feel like the Summer came this year. I kept on with classes and work, and never really had even a minimal period of relaxation or vacation. But what else is new? The weather wasn't too bad, and wasn't too swamp-ass this summer. As far as club ventures, this is probably the first summer that I haven't done jack shit.
  11. I can never eat breakfast in the morning. It makes me sick to my stomach. I get up, drive to work (while listening to 1010 Wins), get lunch at some point during the day, then head to class at night.
  12. The Friday party has been getting much better by the weekend. Rob James and the other weekly djs have been doing a great job keeping the party alive with excellent music. Hopefully the party lasts.
  13. As much as I listen to tribal and progressive, I will never be sick of it.
  14. I stopped in this past Friday night around midnight, and Rob James was already into it, dropping some wicked rhythms. The djs who spun after Rob weren't really that good, but they dropped some decent beats. They may have gotten better throughout the night, but I didn't stay very long after Rob was finished. Nonetheless, music-wise, the current Friday party is better than any previous Friday parties ever held at Exit. If good promotion is done for the Friday party, and Rob James is brought in consistently and given more time on the mainfloor to keep a great vibe going, the party may actually have some potential to do pretty well.
  15. Matt, glad the mainfloor was a little more lively than it was last Friday. Hopefully the party does well, considering the talent the club is now lucky enough to have on a Friday night. What time did Rob finish this past Friday? I wound up taking it easy this weekend. If Rob's spinning again this Friday, I'll be down there.
  16. Deep house is chill, and is very beautiful to listen to, but overall, it doesn't quite have the bite that makes me want to get up and dance. I like listening to deep house when I'm having a drink or smoking a blunt.
  17. Internship doing legal research and brief writing for a law firm that deals specifically with disability discrimination and police brutality cases. Very interesting, but very time consuming. Oh, and I'm not making any money from it. I'm also a full-time Westlaw rep. Usually, I work for an income tax / mortgage co. throughout the year.
  18. Tom Collins (w/ either beefeater or seagrams gin)
  19. Back then, there was much more progressive NY house music being played at Factory by JP, as opposed to the tech house and tribal he started playing later on. Now, the NY progressive style of that not-so-long ago period is sometimes frowned on, but in my opinion, it has a liveliness and quality about it that still holds a special place in my heart. I don't listen to that style of house music as much anymore, even though it's still phat, but when I do listen to it, I'm reminded of some of the greatest parties in NYC.
  20. That's not entirely true. SF on 46th st. circa 97, 98, and 99 was not defined by spiked haired guidos doing drugs. Granted, drugs were present in the club at that time, but there was a much more chill, house music oriented crowd there, especially when Eddie B. was doing Saturday nights. Even after JP took over Saturday nights, the crowd was still pretty chill, and didn't start changing up until about late 99. Drug usage aside, SF circa 97, 98, and 99 was just a chill place to be.
  21. I got there around midnight or so. Sheldon dropped some good tracks. Rob eventually showed up and put it down nicely (as he always does from the booth). The mainfloor was more or less empty the entire night, but the Pink Room wasn't too bad upstairs. We wound up chilling up there for a while before leaving. Overall, aside from the music, the night sucked. However, it wasn't so bad chilling there. Definitely brought back some memories. I had a better time afterwards at Discotheque, but I wound up leaving there early, around 8:30.
  22. Binary, I think we met at Disco when Kutekimee and Apoth were there. I'd definitely remember you if I saw you again. Last night, I went to hear Rob James at Exit. Music was great, as it always is when Rob spins, but the place was deader than a healthy heterosexual man's cock around Roseanne Arnold's naked body. I chilled there for a little while, listened to music, got myself drunk as a skunk, then made my way over to Discotheque around 5:15. Stayed, got open a little bit, but eventually became way too tired to chill late. I broke out around 8:30, took the train home, but fell asleep by the time the train arrived at my stop. I wound up having to take cab from the next town back into my town. Overall, the night was good for thinking, but nothing much else. There was really a beautiful breeze out last night, and it made for a nice stroll through the city.
