  1. Long live casual sex! Oh, for the glory nights of the original Studio 54 again, when sex was exactly that: SEX!

Cleveland OH, the New American City.
  3. OK seriously, how about this? Since I've never, ever been to NYC in my entire life (yet have a lot of friends who make monthly or bi-monthly trips), when should I go? And where? I love more upscale places where some of what I wear here to places like our Mercury Lounge (http://www.themercurylounge.com) is a perfect fit in NYC--but remember I still have to dance, too. Also, where do I shop. Some say the department stores, others the couture salons themselves, still others say the outlets. Suggestions, please? Thanks.
  4. You aren't kidding about that! Too bad I can't be there--DJ Skribble is coming to Metropolis her that night; otherwise, I'd be landing at JFK right now bound for Manhattan. Anyone who goes, please tell me how his birhtday went!
  5. Worst outfit? Gee, in a city of 2.8 million, where do I even start? So many examples that would make a Manhattanie scream, an Angeleno or Atlantan take mass transit, but here's a favorite: 1. 'NSYNC was here in Cleveland last weekend, and while the Thursday concert was "nsoaked" due to the rain, the Friday concert wasn't. Now imagine the boy-toy band's target audience--from 10 to 14 years of age--all VERY overweight, and all in the tiniest thing imaginable from Rave or Charlotte Russe streaming back toward their cars. Talk about a heart-stopper. You know the worst part will be in a few months or years when I see them again in a club line flashing the doorman some skin to get inside while still being light years from being old enough to vote, much less drink or clubhop. ------------------ Erick Adam "E-rock" Sanders

    Just curious

Department assistant in occupational/entironmental safety office at Case Western Reserve University (http://www.cwru.edu). It's not utopia, but OK: keeps a roof over my head, pays my bills, and I have normal hours. Used to work retail (Godiva Chocolatier & The Body Shop) before. ------------------ Erick Adam "E-rock" Sanders
  7. Hey Russ. Sorry to drop in from Cleveland like this, but is there any chance you might swing through my hometown during 2001? There's quite a few of us in this nine-county city who'd love to hear one of your sets. Let me know and I'll do my best to hook you up with some of the Downtown clubs. ------------------ Erick Adam "E-rock" Sanders
  8. Hmmm, this may sound tragic, but I actually prefer: DEPARTMENT STORES: Nordstrom FASHION: Gadzooks, Hot Topic, Poco 21, Vertigo, Ex-Ray Clothing Collective (the last three are exclusive to Cleveland) SHOES: Journeys I checked out A/X's Spring line on the website, and it looks good. ALas, they have yet to put a store here in Ohio--the closest is in Chicagoland. Oh well... ------------------ Erick Adam "E-rock" Sanders
  9. OK, so what's giing on with Twilo now/ I just went to check their website and the thing hasn't been updated since Christmas. ------------------ Erick Adam "E-rock" Sanders
  10. Ah, a topic I know all too well. Here's the North Coast's most-hated songs: 1. Cher--Believe (all mixes) 2. Eiffel 65--Blue 3. Vengaboys--anything at all by them 4. Run DMC vs. Jason Nevins--It's Like That (Jason's Battle Blaster) *yes, on rare occasions a DJ will lose common sense and throw it on there. It clears a club REAL fast now. 5. Amber--Sexual: Li Da Di (Thunderpuss Club Mix) *We call this one the Stripper's Anthem. However the KLM Vocal Remix is good to my ears, sort of a deeper Webster Hall-style sound. 6. Backstreet Boys--I Want It That Way (David Morales Club Mix and Wonder Dub) *I don't care if all the big spinsters from Junior Vasquez to KLM to Hex Hector try it, NOTHING good ever comes out of the Backwash Brats, Nstink, Slutney Sleaze, Christina Bimbolera or O-Crap. NOTHING! 7. H.O.G. Presents Groovelines--Got To Dance Disco (The Navigators Mix and Club 69 Future Anthem) *On mercifully rare occasions, this one will get dragged out of the trash heap. 8. Whitney Houston--It's Not Right But It's Okay (Thunderpuss Club Mix) *I don't even put this one on any of the tapes I make. Now as for some of the songs previously named-- 1. Zombie Nation's "Kernkraft 400" is still going here as the current "must dance" track. Sorry! 2. I almost bough Destiny's Child's "Jumpin' Jumpin'" last week at Camelot. Thanks for making sure I don't! Besides, the Victor Calderone remix of "Independent Women" was more than enough. 3. Yankee Doodle Dandy? That one hasn't hit here yet. Should I duck if it comes? 4. Only one club in town I know of even plays Peter Rauhofer's Club Mix of the Eurhythmics "17 Again". 5. Hey! I actually own Hani, Kim English and Tamia--but to my credit I did sell Eiffel 65's "Blue" remixes as soon as it was played in the clubs here. Someone said that as soon as good stuff gets played on the radio, it quickly becomes passe. Well, we don't have that problem here--none of the North Coast radio stations want anything to do with dance music at all. Most are either bad `70s, hip-hop/R&B/soul, heavy metal, cheesy `80s, or whatever MTV says is popular at that nanosecond. Ever since the conglomerates invaded a few years back, I haven't even bothered to turn on my clock radio. However, my CD collection (sorry kids--I don't fuss with Napster) seesm to have exploded to over 830 items. ------------------ Erick Adam "E-rock" Sanders
  11. Kenneth Cole is big here in Cleveland too. Skeches and Bed-Stu are my personal favorites, though. Twice a week I wear my Skechers 3.5" platforms to my four favorite clubs, and on off-nights the Bed-Stu 2.5" platforms. ------------------ Erick Adam "E-rock" Sanders
  12. Happy New Year to all... I don't know if any of you out there have ever been to my City lately, but I know that the old nasty, barf-o-rama, burning-river laughingstock images still persist even in the Third Millennium. Here's the proof from one of the North Coast's most respected spinsters: The Filly Sound http://www.clevescene.com/issues/2000-12-21/music.html Enjoy! ------------------ Erick Adam "E-rock" Sanders
  13. Geek right here! My entire school life was one big nightmare, lurching from one crisis to another, even in Kindergarten. Fashion-wise, Mother made all the decisions, so you can imagine what I could have been wearing. One Grade Four picture from1984 found me in this scraggly jericurl, huge glasses, and a plaid shirt. PLAID! At such a young age! Only at the very end of my Senior year--Commencement, to be precise--did things finally come to an end. Alas, it left me an emotional basketcase and caused nothing but trouble with my family. The worst came a few years back during the height of popularity for ABC-TV's accursed "Family Matters" and that damned Urkel. To this day, I still hear an occasional high-pitched "did I do that?" That and J.J. on those old "Good Times" reruns. It makes me so SICK! Thankfully at 27 years, I am in slightly better shape, although it still hurst to think about even today. Perhaps that's why I am also one of my City's most preferred nightcrawlers. Oh, the photo is of me today. ------------------ Erick Adam "E-rock" Sanders
  14. I'd try BC Ethic at http://www.bcethic.com. They are also at The Buckle and Gadzooks. ------------------ Erick Adam "E-rock" Sanders

  16. It seems that Exit is sounding a lot like two other bars here in Cleveland: Velvet Dog (http://www.velvetdogcleveland.com) and newly opened Funky Buddha (http://www.funkybuddhabar.com). I was at Funky Buddha last Saturday night at 9:30PM--early, or so I thought. 100 people were ALREADY THERE--and the word "cheese" is MUCH too generous. Let's just say I was the only one wearing anything close to what you New Yorkers wear. By 10:15, the "music" starts--and this brand new $1 million twin-level Pacific Rim-inspired club is overloaded already with 500 people in a club built for 400. It took me 15 minutes to get my coat from coat check ($3), then another ten minutes to reach the exit--where I found over 200 more just waiting in line to get in! Since I STILL haven't been to NYC yet but hope to do so in 2001, I hope Exit improves before my visit. ------------------ Erick Adam "E-rock" Sanders

  18. I have several preferred outfits I wear here in Cleveland USA, but these are my Most Preferred Outfits: 1. D&G short-sleeve gray body-conscious shirt with matching gray pants from Quant Hombre. 3. Chaos long-sleeve spandex shirt & matching black pants. 21. That's right! The Dutch trance troupe best known for the infectious "Better Off Alone" which has recently been put togeterh with Rozalla's "Everybody's Free" is coming to the New American City--one of only ten USA shows--on Wednesday 1 November 2000. They will perform at The Basement (1078 Old River Road, Flats East Bank) beginning at 9PM. No cover, but it is 21 and up. I don't know if they're heading to Chicagoland, so here's directions to Cleveland USA. From The Loop, head EAST on Interstate 80/90 through Indiana and into Ohio, where it becomes the J.W. Shocknessey Ohio Turnpike. Contunie EAST to the exit for Interstate 90. Proceed East on 90 to Downtown Cleveland and use the Ontario Street exit. Go NORTH on Ontario (past Jacobs Field and Gund Arena) and turn left onto West Huron Road. Stay on West Huron (passing Tower City Center) to West Ninth Street. Veer right onto West Ninth and head NORTH through the Historic Warehouse District. Go down hill and turn left onto Front Street, then continue west into The Flats East Bank. The Basement is next to Panini's Bar & Grill and the Cleveland Beach Club at 1078 Old River Road. ------------------ Erick Adam "E-rock" Sanders
