Spoonyd has a pretty accurate description, I agree with pretty much all of it. I'd also mention that techno, trance and house have very different basslines, and in my opinion the bassline is the most accurate way of deciding to which type the song belongs to. Though I don't know how to explain in words what the difference in bassline sound is. And trance and techno usually (not always) have higher bpm's (130-145) than most variations of house (deep, hard, etc., usually up to 130).

PVD does play break beats, or break beat trance as Blueangel called it. Though I'd say he plays only a bit of tech-house and more progressive trance.

And I'd say this happens not just with DJ's, but other musicians as well. Most of bands/singers/producers come up with their best work at the start of their career. Then once they get big most of them kinda fall off...

This was a good one, took me a while to get it. Turn two switches on. Wait for some time. Then turn one of them off. So you have one switch on and two off. Now enter the room. The lamp that's on matches with the switch that's on. Now touch the lamps, the one that you turned on and off will be warm, and the cold one is the one you never turned on. Works?
