  1. I loved the shit he released under the Tribal Crew alias.
  2. My first cd was Soul For Real - Candy Rain....My parents should be slapped for purchasing it. It was the shit in 5th grade though.
  3. I've been listening to Mark Farina Mushroom Jazz 4 alot lately.
  4. I'm sorry to hear that you too live in Tampa...
  5. I'm pretty sure it's "Angel Alanis - Do you like the way you feel when you shake?"...it's track 12 on the DJ Dan In Stereo CD.
  6. heh, I was using C++ damn near everyday about 6-8 months ago. I wouldn't know where to start if I tried to write something in it now...damned PHP.
  7. Sounds like a great idea...perhaps you should expand to Tampa *hint*
  8. The owner is the guy who impersonates Elvis right (no, not the bartender Elvis)...or do they have the Elvis Mural on the wall for another reason?
  9. I would classify it as raggae...the beat has been used in a number of other raggae songs, so the only thing that sets it apart is the lyrics. The lyrics are probably considered raggae anyways. P.S. I got ahold of that Tampa Tony track, if you want it let me know (assuming you don't already have it).
  10. I can't speak for NY, but in Tampa, House basically doesn't exist. Most people, regardless of race or taste in music can identify breakbeat, but no one has a clue about house. I guess it all depends what you listen to while your growing up. Chances to see a DJ spinning house here are few and far between, and the crowd is probably going to be a weak one due to lack of interest.
  11. not sure about the lyrics, but that sounds like the Diwali Riddim... Wayne Wonder - No Letting Go is big in Tampa clubs right now, and that song uses the beat...you might also want to try TOK - Top a Tappa or General Degree - Inna ...also, if you live in Florida, you may have heard Tampa Tony - Keep Jukin....the song is getting big, and the beat is great...I checked a few of the local record stores in Tampa, but apparently the song hasn't been released yet, other than to DJs.
  12. I quit because I'm poor....I miss them quite a bit, but hopefully that passes. At least now I can get up the stairs without getting winded.
  13. This is the sound of Tribal United Kingdom mixed live at the Sound Factory, NYC by Junior Vasquez. Has quite a long name for a cd....it was released in 1994. I found it buried under some cds at a Sam Goody in Tampa. Has anyone ever heard this? It still cost 18 dollars even though the case was busted to shit...
  14. Well, that makes alot more sense now.
  15. heh, I had no idea he was....how do you just suddenly make a transition like that?
  16. Before I even post, let it be known that I am not making any reference to Tony Draper as a DJ, just about him being mentioned. my roommate was listening to a song called Eightball - Pure Uncut. The song features Master P, and he says something like "Then I hooked up with Tony Draper". I was just curious what Tony Draper has to do with southern hiphop.
  17. I've never had a problem with memorex cds, and I've gone through 4 or 5 of the 50 packs....Imation are good, but the coating on the top scratches off too easily. I want these: http://www.verbatim.com/products/products.cfm?pro_id=379
  18. Aw shit, I just realized that the drop deadline was Nov. 1st....maybe I can get the teacher to give me an incomplete or something, cause there isn't a real good chance of me passing this class. I actually need to get good grades this year, because I plan on transfering next year.
  19. Yes, freshman year sucks balls. the worst part is getting up for classes, which I failed to do all last week....once you get used to waking up at 6pm every day, it's hard to break the cycle.
  20. Ah shit, i hit the wrong button, that was supposed to go in the montreal club thread:(
  21. The only club I went to in Montreal was Club Vatican....it's sort of a "young professionals" club, which isn't me at all. It's a mix of hip hop and some house later in the night. It's sort of a lounge setting, drinks are pretty expensive, although cover was cheap. Decent sound system, but the crowd isn't too hot.
  22. I'd have to agree with the canadian thing, because Montreal has some of the most beautiful girls I've ever seen, although alot fall into the whole "I look like I'm starving so I think I'm hot" category. Asians are hot too.
  23. Soulseek is far better for harder to find songs, but you can get kazaa without all the spyware and shit from www. k-lite. tk
  24. NYC could be far worse....you could live in a part of the country where 99% of music played in clubs is either hip hop or Florida breaks:(
