NE1 see this report this morning on GMA? If that were to explode it has the potential to contaminate the entire SE water supply! Does this make NE1 else nervous or is it just me? 09/14/2004 05:54 AM ID: 42918 Lost Nuclear Bomb May Have Been Found A hydrogen bomb lost in the Atlantic Ocean in 1958 after a B-47 bomber collided with an F-86 fighter, may have been found. Air Force Lt Col. Derek Duke of Statesboro, Georgia, led his group to an area of the ocean where high levels of radioactivity are emitting. The use of metal detectors and radiation equipment, searched the area in Wassaw Sound off Tybee Island. The 7,600-pound, 12 foot long thermonuclear bomb contained 400 pounds of high explosives as well as uranium. The bomb was dropped from an altitude of about 7,200 feet. [source: www.cnn.com]
