  1. to all those who sit here and post knocking other clubs... can i ask why waste your time? new york is a diverse city with a wide variety of partying options and unique scenes. different people appeal to different clubs. but if we were to all stick to the club where others say "we belong" what would be the point of living in such a diverse city? look- we look to different clubs for different reasons... a more upscale crowd, a more laid-back crowd, a more intimate venue, harder music... if someone who almost always frequents one particular place comes to appreciate something that you do in another, why not take it as a compliment? dont claim they destroy your scene... change is inevitable. live for the moment and enjoy what you have while it lasts. when its no longer enjoyable- move on. your negatvity certainly wont make the place any better.
  2. ok well here's my problem... ive been plannin on going to factory this saturday for the last week or so... but completely forgot i promised to eat at my grandparents tomorrow night cause they just came in from greece. well dinner their time is at 2:30. and to add to the problem i only have 60 bucks to my name at the moment. that will just make it through admission and coatcheck... party goodies i already have. so what do u say? fuck it all... go broke... and see my grandparents all cracked out... cause id have to go straight without sleeping? or save the cash and go another week- esp since its gonna be beyond packed tonight. ahhhh i need help!!!!!!
  3. ooh ooh ooh... they're still around. plus over the summer i saw one inside a deli down the block from NV downtown... my friends and i pulled the whole... is that? nahhh... yea i think it is! well ps... he gave us a funny look and left before we came to the conclusion that it really was mike d. hehehe [This message has been edited by ibelong2thenight (edited 01-27-2001).]
  4. i went to factory last night... got in round 4... left round 11:30. personally, i've liked jp better on other occassions. i like hard house but cant deal with it for too long. early in the night he played feline which i looooveee. later he played an awesome mix of blood is pumpin but then he played some hard stuff that just began to make my head hurt. oh well ... i danced my ass off anyway. it was pretty packed with a mix of people... no group seemed to dominate too much which was cool. vibe was good. oh! one negative- the dancers were NNNAAASTYYYY! (im talking bout the ones who did the performances) what was up with that? sometimes factory has these awesome beautiful dancers and then others its just like ewww get off the stage. well maybe it was just my perception. all in all a good night.
  5. GREY's PAPAYA def.... i heard there's a new one? anyone know where?
  6. my sincerest apologies mendez. i stand coreected... hope i didn't offend you.
  7. last night was only my second time to factory on a friday night... i went about a year ago and swore to never return. some friends guilt tripped me into going last night. so wish i went to vinyl instead... i must say this time was much better than my first but still pretty bad. mendez was decent earlier in his set but i thought it was a bit fucked up to drop lil drummer boy. we all know that's jp's once a year track. it has special meaning. luv and lodi killed the vibe in my opinion. the place was dead by 4.... it was weird to leave factory at night. not used to that at all. oh well... ill go back to my routine tonight to see factory in full effect. see you all there. 8. hey... caught a glimpse of the limelight flyer for tonight... features AMANDA GATIEN. can ne1 explain the connection? im jus curious
  9. undoubtedly almost any ecstasy user will tell you that e's made them "dumber." however THIS study leaves a lot to be questioned. as anyone who has studied statistics will tell you...a sample of 40 people is WAY too small to make such conclusions. (the law of large numbers is not incorporated) also, although yes, there was a control group, you do not mention whether or not the memory skills of the subjects were tested before hand. one would assume that if the subjects agreed to this study voluntarily, the ones who were placed in the e taking group likely had done drugs in the past. their brains might have already been fucked up... who knows?!?! there is no mention of randomization to limit variation in any part of the experiment (neither in determining the initial subject selection or subject allocation) - this is a key element in experimental design that is lacking. on a last note, years ago i did a research paper on how the brain stores memory... and although scientists may know more today- im sure that they still know VERY little. when different types of working, short term and long term memory evaluations were used on the SAME subjects in numerous experiments, results varied drastically. there are several bias' in this experiment... i for one would not regard it as being one of any significant value.
  10. i've been asking around about it a lot... have a friend who raves about it in philly and he has me really interested... have yet to find anyone in my circle who uses it here in nyc... but im sure i will eventually... how bout 2cb? got any info on that?
  11. damn good reading... where'd u find that?
  12. ouch... sorry you guys got burned... well as for me i got my tick for 30 bucks...and got in without waiting online cause i got tehre early... and had a really decent time inside... not great but not bad by any means. except for that hugre brawl on the main floor that killed the vibe for awhile (some guy like fell onto me and got blood all over my arm which was NNNNNNNNNNNNASSSSTTTYYY) and the fact that i never did find half the people i was supposed to meet up with it was as good as can be expected for a thanksgiving eve party imo. the crowd wasnt personally my ideal, but it was nice to run into old friends.
  13. no no no... some of you have seem to misread my post... the point wasnt that any of these inmates were users of ecstasy- they may have been... who knows... the point was that the study linked low seritonin levels, and problems with seritonin receptors to violence. no mention of ecstasy in the show at all. as for the comments regarding drug use... well duh any illegal substance- as well as many legal substances which apotheosis makes reference to- cause a variety of long term damage, much of which we dont know about being that relatively little research has been done on long term effects- on ecstasy in particular. as for my own opinions... i agree that people, who make a defensive case by saying that many of the legal, more socially accepted substances are "safe" are simply uninformed. however, i shared this information because this show just pointed out another reason to carefully regulate ecstasy consumption. more importantly- it illustrated a new reason to do so- one i had never heard of before. so i passed it along as a new thing to add to the list of reasons to be careful. i personally feel a responsibility to know what i am doing to my body and am sure other people do too. ------------------ Music is the answer.. to the problems... keep on movin, and you can solve them. If you feel that you can take no more, and your feet are headed for the door ... gotta keep on... DANCIN and PRANCIN. GROOVIN, keep on MOVIN.
  14. As i was channel surfing today- i came across a discovery channel special that was talking about the effects of depleted seritonin levels. Having read a bit about the effects of ecstasy on neuro-receptors and seritonin levels I kept watching to see what the show was all about. Turns out it was discussing the "science" behind violent behavior. It talked about a study conducted in Finnish prisons (I think they were Finnish?) that linked low seritonin levels to violent behavior. Something like 85% of the inmates which had tested positive for low seritonin levels and were released, committed violent crimes yet again. Well the show continued to talk about other contributing factors to the violent behavior... including the genetic coding that "designed" these low seritonin levels as well as damaged seritonin receptors. However it seems that this case study seems to point out a strong connection not only between seritonin and depression but also violent behavior. In all my reading up on ecstasy, I never came across refernece to such a link. At least none that I can recall. This show provied yet another frightening reason to stay away from drugs. Just thought I'd pass the info along. Anyone know of any other research that suggests a connection between depleted seritonin levels and violent behavior?
  15. i've been left with numerous bruises on my lower back from hand railings. many of the railings at clubs i frequent position perfectly above my butt... go figure.
  16. random song... certainly not this crowd's typical music scene... but i've been singing this for like a week- my friends are ready to kill me. "I wanna licklicklicklick lickya from your head to your toes... I wanna move from the bed dadadown to the floor... I wanna ah ah ah so you never leave... I wanna knknknow what is your fantasy."
  17. One has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws. ~Martin Luther King Jr. Leave a promise unfulfilled and you are always leaving. To dream of the person you want to be is to waste the person you are. Silence speaks more than words can ever say. (Guys i've been with KNOW this to be true) My personal fave that i said one morning walking out of a club was my response to my friend's comment that "We're in the middle of nowhere." and i said... "and yet we're now here." Maybe I heard someone say it before... but to this day i cant remember if i did... in any case we all stopped and it made us really think (something hard to do when all cracked out)... then crack up.
  18. we can only hope your right... i pray that that bumbling over-simplistic idiot bush is not our next president.
  19. haha... i heard a clip of that song the other day at a friends... what i found even funnier was when i was downtown in a shoestore called WHEELS across the street from Ricky's... and all of a sudden i hear a vocal in the song say "can i get a bump?"... even more coincidental- behind the counter there were dozens of the lip shaped ROCKY HORROR flier for SF halloween. i turned to my friend, we started cracking up. the salesgirl just smiled.
  20. Mi padre es de grecia pero mi madre es de Espana... de un pueblo cerca de Vigo en Galicia.
  21. mitsu's going around are mostly fake immitation batches... yellow ck's have caused numerous od's... AVOID!!!... white nike's are incredible... very speedy. My peronal favorites at the moment... are what we call Slits... they're blanks, with a slit on one side... slightly brownish in color... edges are sort of rounded down... more shaped like a mini-advil than a hockey puck. SUPER SPEEDY... SUPER HAPPY... VERY STRONG... avg trip time from what my friends have experienced is about 5-6 hours off one. enjoy.
  22. OMG LOLLY! I was reading through these posts... about to write about my own story when all of a sudden u mentioned the day it snowed last april! I live in ny... we had that same weird day. Well one night my friends threw a party... it was kinda a getting to know you lets get trashed together party cause we had just began forming our new club crew. well between about 10 of us we went through prolly 40+ hits... plus your typical weed, k and coke and alcohol... i cant imagine the amounts. we all got insanely trashed. and when we woke up- it was snowing! and we thought we were all going nuts. it had been like 70 degrees the few days before. well we gained composure and walked in the freezing cold and snow to a diner later taht afternoon to recooperate. what a bonding experience that was. we had so much fun. damn i miss that crew
  23. my best friend got kicked out of exit last year for opening one of the back doors to use a cell. she opened it about an inch to get reception and some big guy pulled her out. one of our other guy friends went after her not wanting to leave her alone- he got tossed too. talk about stupid. the thing that sucks was the bouncer said that if it had only been her they wouldve let her back in. the sat on our car for 4 hours till the rest of us came out. we were scared shitless as we searched the place up and down but it all worked out.
  24. the worst are the guys who think they are snakes..."psssssssssssss... psssssssssss" my girlfriends and i were just complaining about this today- some nasty guy followed us into the subway hissing at us... thank god he didnt get through the turnstiles. another routine annoyance is walking a block or two to a club... i have gotten honked at and followed by so many gross men that now everytime i go out- i make sure to go with a guy friend. haha- i always get this comment... "what them guys in that club got that i dont got?" the way some guys inside grab asses i sometimes find myself asking the same question. personally i avoid eye contact and keep walking... if im in a bitchy mood ill comment back or give the finger. i know i know im asking for trouble. but sometimes its just hard to hold back.
  25. i know... WAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! i guess i just have that loyalty to factory... wishing it will live up to all my memories. looks like i may need a new plan- i keep setting myself up for disappointment. [This message has been edited by ibelong2thenight (edited 10-29-2000).]
