  1. I have the opposite dilemma. I booked a hotel, but all of my friends backed out on me and now i dont know what to do. Its San Juan hotel on 16th and washington i believe and its $80 a night.
  2. That is just Fucking gorgeous...Oh, my...I think i am gonna make a stopover in Madrid for a game before i go to ibiza this summer.
  3. Feelgood is also @Sonar in Balto on thursday if anyone wants some extra Feelgood...or umm Feel extra good or somethin'...
  4. i Like watching the English league the most - simple attacking football and the players give it all they got. french league i cannot stand - too boring. ohhh, almost forgot - today is 'Pool Vs. Newcastle game. This one should be good - whoever looses, is basically out of championship race. Do you play EPL fantasy league on FSW website? its pretty cool. last year i finished in the first 100, but this year i am struggling in the mid 800's. I think this year russia is gonna show something at WC, its about fu*king time they do. They have some very talented youngsters as well as experienced players. LOL, its interesting how this thread about the "best of" turned into a soccer discussion...
  5. Lev Yashin - the black spider? Hmmm, interesting...I've never heard anyone call him that. i am gonna go on the limb here and say that Portugal will win it this time. I was very impressed by them at euro 2000. My second choice is Italy - the defence will decide everything. Argentina and France have good chances, but everyone is gonna play against them like its their last game, plus they cant surprise anyone nomore. Spartak Vs. Dynamo. Oh, man those were the days. I havent seen the '95 game, but i know it was intense. They recently played each other and dynamo won again 4:3. Two completely different schools of football, even though i root for Dynamo, i like Spartak style better. I go to Summers whenever one of my teams are playing? Not as often anymore, since i got Foxworldsports at my house. Were u there for the Dynamo Vs. Liverpool game last year?
  6. Hahahaha...Never in a million years i would think that someone outside of the Soviet Union would root for the commies. i think its cool, though. i always root for the underdof, too. And you are right - everyone did hate them. Who's the black spider? i am sure i know the player, just never heard the nickname. I also like 'Pool in England the most - they dont seem to be as cocky as the rest, plus i like their style. Dont know much about Latin America club football, but i saw whats going on at their stadiums and its unbelievably crazy. Cant wait for the World Cup. This is the site that i use to keep up with the news. www.dailysoccer.com/headlines
  7. How did you recognize my avatar? Just looking at the letter D? I mean not many people know anything about East European teams, especially remember any names from the 80's. I am impressed. So, whats ur favorite team?
  8. I am a big soccer fan overall, and yes, Dynamo Kiev are my boys, too bad i dont get to watch them a lot, being in US and all. The only time i can see them is Summers, which is actually is th best place to watch soccer. Have to agree on the waiters and bathrooms. In fact, once i saw a waiter in a bathroom there, who did not wash his hands before getting back to work. So, i guess that place would not fall into category for best Waiters, bathrooms and hygiene.
  9. oh, oh, i see...we r talking about best bars, restaurants, AND best plases to go potty. I thought we were talking about best bathrooms IN bars, movies theaters, restaurants. i dont go out much in DC, so wouldnt know.
  10. i dont know about bars, movie theaters, etc., but... This one time... on the way to Buzz about three years ago i really needed to go to the bathroom and i wouldnt go at some dirty gas station, so we stopped at some fancy hotel near Capitol (Hilton or Hyatt, i think) and i took the biggest, bestest crap ever. The bathrooms had marble floor, chandaliers, etc., basically it was a "million dollar" bathroom. the experiences was soooo good that i still remember it three years later. Since then, everytime i need to go to the bathroom while i am driving i look for a hotel. So, there...my memorable bathroom story.
  11. What's up with the event cancellations Due to the overwhelming numbers of emails regarding Ultraworld's upcoming events, we wrote an information page that gives you the lowdown on what's going on. It is in response to questions of varying natures. As many of you have noticed, Ultraworld has now had two events not happen as planned. One was Rocket on New Years Eve at the DC Amory, and the other was Odyssey 20:02 planned for April 27th, also at the DC Armory. The main story in these two is we are experiencing some problems with the Armory. Nothing we shouldn't overcome, but a current issue nonetheless. After Fox 5 ran a story from Radiate (need we even say what it was about), the General of the Army who runs the armory wanted to gather more information about the events we have been doing for the past 6 years. They were actually going to let us do New Years Eve as contracted, but in the end, we pulled the event, feeling that it was best to let the General do his work on his own time, without forcing an event just four weeks later. We were given a clear signal that everything was resolved and that we could move forward with Odyssey on April 27th. Unfortunately, the armory management dragged its feet in having the appropriate meetings to clear the event, which forced us to cancel. Yet that was not the main reason for the April cancellation. We could have issued them deadlines, but we did not. The real reason that Odyssey is not going to happen is due to the lack of our ability to find a suitable headliner for such a large space. We are running into the same problems we always run into. Believe it or not, after being the most reliable one-off event producer in this scene for 10 years, after throwing the party of the year (Starscape), and being voted 2nd best promoter in the country, we cannot get a major headliner of trance or techno to spin for Ultraworld. You ask yourself why people like Carl Cox, Sasha & Digweed, Oakenfold, Fatboy Slim, etc... have never spun for us, and you would think the answer must be that Ultraworld hasn't asked them. That is not the case, we've invited every one of those dj's and more to every single Ultraworld event since 1996. But the sad truth is they say "no", everytime, time and time again. Perhaps we've just been completely unlucky and they are all already booked on the date we pick. But after 6 years, that answer if wearing thin. Considering our two events are annually on the same date, any one of these artist's agents could arrange a tour with an Ultraworld event as an anchor. Unfortunately, they apparently will not. Just be aware it is not for our lack of trying. It's been a frustrating 6 years. We had one glimpse of breaking into the bigger names with PVD last year, but other than that, we've been shut out time and time again. One agency even dared to tell us they would not give us a certain dynamic duo because we needed to book their "lessor" names first to build a reputation! We try to be humble, but please, here in 2002 someone's going to tell Ultraworld it needs to prove itself?!? Considering what we've done, and the level of quality that our events are known for, you'd think these agencies would be knocking down our door to finally get these artists in front of 10,000 people. But they are not. Your guess is as good as ours as to why, because it certainly isn't for lack of trying, or for us being willing to meet their financial demands. So boys and girls... the bottom line is, it ain't easy! And now you have the answer to the often asked question: "You are the mighty Ultraworld, this is the biggest lineup you can put together?" It's a question we're a bit sick of hearing, because of the answer which we've outlined. We're not sick of doing parties by any means, but we just want to express to the public what is going on behind the scenes. The challenge is in our hands to continue to produce events without the $50k dj, but you as a patron need to do your part as well and realize that Ultraworld events are special due to the amount of energy and creativity we put into them. They are made even more special by the people that attend. The music and the DJ's are paramount to the event, but aside from a dj here or there who did not have a great set, Ultraworld books quality dj's free of scene politics. So if you don't recognize every name on the flier, think of that as an opportunity to experience something different, not something bad. We feel the event stands alone as something to get excited about. A perfect example is Burning Man. People pay hundreds of dollars and spend thousands just to be a part of that environment. Even people providing artistic work for that event pay to be there. We obviously do not operate the same way they do, but the analogy can be made. We should also note that apart from a party here or there in New York, Ultraworld is one of the few big promoters left on the East Coast. Other than that (and mostly true in New York as well), the DJ experience is limited to clubs, however big or small. We've always said that the clubs are the bread and butter of the scene, but Ultraworld is the hot fudge Sunday! If the 'big dj's' don't want to be a part of that, we're not gonna let it spoil our fun. Just think about these things when you see our fliers come. As for the brief mention of a drum n bass party in DC on April 27th, that will not happen either. Lonnie will be doing drum n bass parties under the name LFU (Lonnie from Ultraworld), but for now, all of the Ultraworld attention is being turned to Starscape. Thanks for reading
  12. I wish some girl would spike my drink...Sigh:rolleyes:
  13. the good thing of going solo is that you decide where to go, at what time to get there, what time to leave with out having to worry if your leaving someone behind 'cos theyre passed out, wait for someone when they are late, etc. etc...or deciding om where to go. This is definetely one of the reasons i like to go out by myself. Cause whenever u get a big group together, things do not go exactly as planned, which pisses me off, cause i am kinda anal about my planning.
  14. ...To go to clubs by yourslef. I noticed that lately i've been doing this more and more, since most of my friends are busy, poor or just lame(i.e. not into the scene). Everytime i go i have a blast, because i am there to listen to the music and dance and not to socialize. So, what do y'all think?
  15. Seems like a lot of people have many complains about this night. Well, i have none...i had a great time listening to it live on the radio, and since i was still under the influence of "medicine" after my oral surgery - it doubled the fun. But seriously, i think its awesome how Buzz has its own radioshow now.
  16. While there's a dress code at Trust, i have been able to get in wearing sneakers couple of times. I think if you look more or less respectable - no "thug" wear - you are gonna be ok.
  17. Good Lawd!!! I think i survived it. Thank you all for u r concern and advise. It wasnt all that bad. The procedure took about 20 min for all 4 teeth. Nitrous was awesome...i just imagined that i am dancing my ass somewhere in a club and it made the whole thing even pleasurable. The doctor prescribed Maxidone, which i found out is even more stronger than vicodine, so...PILLS ARE GOOD, oh yeah...i think i am gonna have some left over and i am not greedy, hehe, but its first come, first serve All right, time to take another one and back to the LA LA Land. Good night.
  18. Oh, crap! Now i feel like a lab rat.
  19. Thanks everyone. Sounds like the solution is drugs and more drugs. Now i'll have a reason to use them and not feel guilty about it. I am actually looking forward to one thing today - nitrious (sp?). Never tried before... i also had big plans for this weekend involving lots of alcohol. i guess it not happening then since doctors dont reccomend to mix it with painkillers. Although, it comes highly reccomended by the rest of the Earth population. Hmmm....
  20. ...I am off to the dentist in a few hours to get my wisdom teeth pulled. Anyone has any comforting stories how it does NOT hurt? I've already heard plenty of pain stories. thanks.
  21. WOW! Superchumbo-chumbo-mumbo is gona be at Trust? Hard to believe, but it seems to be true...just checked their website. Its about time they bring in some guest DJ's, cause i dont think i can take anymore of Leni K...Shouold be one hell of a night. Too bad that the party is over by 2AM though.
  22. Sigh...Ain't THAT a bitch?! I was looking forward to it since November.
  23. I just got back last night... Still cant come to my senses...I havent slept for 4 days, drank myself to oblivion and had too much sex (if there's such a thing). Definetely worth checking out at least once.
  24. i think its weird, funny and interesting all at the same time. Make sure you look through some of that photography by Margot Knight. If you actually wanna find info on Steve Lawler go to the Links section...Oh, and BTW - he is gonna be at Vinyl on Apr. 6th...i already marked my calendar. www.stevelawler.com
