  1. jamjimvin, if you worked for a designer line you'd be set. a friend of mine works at prada and when they do run way shows the clothes are basically up for grabs afterwards. but ofcourse she petite like me so that doesn't help much. but she grabs the handbags, scarves, accessories... etc. etc. still a good deal.
  2. i thought my memory was playing tricks on me. i totally know what you mean. i'm glad i'm not the only one thinking sizes are getting larger and larger. use to fit in a 2. now can't even fit in a 0. i guess it depends on the designer too. even vivienne tam and anna sui's sizes run a bit large. but if it fits, it fits really well.
  3. hey vj, i'm going to the rave. yay! are you?
  4. not really. just a thought. i question everything (well, almost). often time questions can lead you to more thought.
  5. i guess i have been fortunate enough to have rolled with people that are closest to me. when we are sober and the party is over we are even closer.
  6. they do? i have a mental picture in my head... it seems a bit scary...
  7. i'm sure most people at clubs are not over 35 at the most. well, they don't look like they are. you get the occasional 60 year olds (like saturday nights at twilo, when i go i always see this old man doing tango steps or something) but that is rare and few. i'm sure i'll stop clubbing one day. either that or i'll be that 60 year old woman... but at this moment i can't imagine not going out and dancing like crazy. i was just wondering when do you guys think you'll grow out of clubbing?
  8. the september 15th event is posted on this site. http://www.amazura.com/events.htm well, if you decide to go. let me know. i'll be there. we should meet up. btw, are you studying chinese in shanghai?
  9. if you are into the rave scene there is a rave happening at a ballroom in queens. it's a synthetic sadhus production. it's a toss up. i love vinyl on fridays.
  10. yes, in a different sense though. i do brand strategy work for fortune500 companies. and advertising is one expression of brand work so i work with the advertising medium too. it's an interesting and challenging field but can't say i'm passionate about it. but soon... (crossing my fingers for good luck) i will be doing what i really believe i'll love.
  11. ha! that is interesting... (hmmm... i wonder if my adversion to permanency has anything to do with the fact that i have moved around so much all my life)
  12. wow. lots of people with tattoos. no tattoos for me. i considered it. was attracted to the idea but couldn't get over the concept of permanency. i'm wacky like that.
  13. forget the fog. just the strob lights flashing will knock my balance off. it's like i'm walking on clouds or something. like i'm floating. weeeeeee...
  14. hey that sounds like a great job. being a kid surrounded by toys at work.
  15. i realize it's boring question but there is a point to it. i've been reading some disturbing articles about 5-htp use and eosinophilia myalgia syndrome (EMS) due to the contaminant called "peak X" http://www.mayohealth.org/mayo/9808/htm/diet.htm anyways, anyone have any updated info on the dangers of using 5-htp? don't want to scare people with wrong info. but just a warning for people to do more research on it.
  16. have you noticed any benefits or side effects due to 5-htp use?
  17. LOL... that was a funny story. first time i came in contact with pot was in boarding school. i didn't actually see it but it was "reaking" (i now, love that smell) in the hallways. i thought it smelled like burning plastic and was about to report to our dorm faculty that someone's room must be burning down. luckily, someone stopped me and explained to me the whole concept of marijuana before i got that someone expelled from school. oops...
  18. good point lbressler! that just adds another factor into the equation and will change what i define as clubber/clubbing vs. raver/raving. though i do believe that ravers are more attracted to raves if there is a good line-up. anyone else with good points? i'm still working on this idea so it will be evolving. 19. well, i'm still trying to figure this out but from what i understand (this is generalizing ofcourse)... clubbers = individuals going to a place to dance ravers = individuals going to a place to dance with the mindset of unity i believe dress is just one form of expression. some clubbers may be disguised under raver styles and similarly some clubbers may be disguised under non-raver styles. so though clubbers and ravers differ slightly in attitude, the compounded effect of a mass of clubbers and a mass of ravers gives rise to either the "club scene" or the "rave scene." so i guess i prefer raves to clubs (though i go to both) because though there are ravers at clubs the added effect is over-powered by clubbers. though at raves you often find clubbers i would hope the added effect is dominated by ravers. i guess i seek for that one night when all go to hear music and dance but bring with them only good vibes. LOL... i answered my own question. from what i see lots of clubNYC people are madd friendly and from their actions of wanting to reach out and meet others already qualifies them as ravers. well, we can always argue about definitions... don't know why i needed to clarify all this. guess, i needed to understand my obsession with going out dancing at places like raves or clubs. i love the music! i love dancing! but then there is also something else about those nights...
  20. LMAO... but seriously, you should. also, have a section dedicated to rules. e.g. if you are one of those supermuscle heads that chooses to go shirtless, remember, watch your muscles and sweat. do not bash into petite girls and knock them off their feet. btw, what publishing house do you work for?
  21. hey cathy, i sent you a PM.
  22. vejita, did you go to the tsunami production with xdream this past saturday/sunday? how was it? btw, i PMed you.
  23. do you guys consider yourself a clubber or raver? do you think there is a difference? if not, would you rather go a to a rave or a club? and why? (reason i ask is because there seems to be a lot more cross-over than meets the eye even though it is a "club"NYC message board. i'm interested to know.)
  24. well, can't really recommend something because though the logos may be the same, it may come from different batches. your best bet is to order a EZ test kit and test your stuff. even that is not going to tell you the difference between MDMA, MDA or MDEA. anyways, you can also go to dancesafe.org and erowid.org for more info on pills.
