this story is def gonna date me... i was in 13 when lennon was shot. i lived about a mile and half from the hotel where lennon was killed. i remember watching monday night football and a special announcement came on the screen that john lennon had been killed. my parents had been huge music fans and i was listening to the beatles since i was a baby. i remember my mom crying an playing "in my life" i was in 7th grade at good old st.marys junior high on 199th street. the next day we were saying our morning prayers and sister rosine asked if anyone wanted to offer a special prayer. so i spoke up and said that we should pray for the lennon family and yoko ono. i remember the old ass nun making a nasty face.....bitch. that day after school, i got off the subway near the Dakota and there was a huge mob, singing songs and waving candles. even though it was the next day, there were already five different guys selling john lennon memorial t-shirts...gotta love new york...
