  1. picking just one is soo difficult, but... 1. The Bridge of San Luis Rey, Thornton Wilder (second, The Celestine Prophecy -we should have a user group meeting on this one; third, Childhoods End, Arthur C. Clark - awesome sci-fi book). ------------------
  2. yeh i have that scratch DR. he dont do shit except wear your arm out. spent like 45 minutes buffin one fuckin cd and it still skipped. total joke. the only thing cool about it is that it looks like the ship in star wars that bobafet (sp?) flew. so i guess you can alwats dig out your old action figures and pretend its a space ship. ------------------
  3. me personally, ive always beleived that your 21st birthday should be spent in a bar getting drunk, LEGALLY! and the only rule was that your friends didn't succeed if you didn't puke and/or passout. JMO. ------------------
  4. pray for me that i find enough $$ to make it there. never heard DH but his Nu Breed CD is the epitome of what i like in house music (steve lawler's too. just had to add that). ------------------
  5. Amazing how intelligent and creative some people are. very funny. ------------------
  6. k, been wondering what "sounds" move other people. for me, nothing runs chills up my spine faster than a deep synth with a deep bass line. songs like #9 on disc 2 of Juniors new Twilo CD, "ill take my problems to the dancefloor..", or song #4 on Sandra Collins Tranceport III, make me go nuts. That deep, grinding synth and that smooth bass line literally give me chills when i hear them. there's just something about that sound. and what makes it even more poignant, is that when the bass drops, it's not like a 100lb anvil being thrown from the roof of a building, smashing to the ground; it's like a great big blue whale rising up from the depths below, then smashing back down. it takes you by surprise, from underneath, not from above (i hope that makes sense). now obviously there are floor fillers, songs that have something we can all identify with. but what i want to know is, what moves you? what gives you chills, releases those endorphins, or just drives your ass to the dancefloor? is it deep synths, breaks, melodic trance, bongos, vocals, what? it's obviously not the same for everyone cause when im in my car and those songs i spoke of come on, and i start making faces and banging my fist on the console, my friends just look at me with raised brows like ive lost it. then some cheesy (to me) song comes on and i look over and the passanger's got his hands in the air like he's being exaulted. so what drives you? ------------------
  7. I couldn't agree more. if the other guy has nothing to lose and you do....you're fucked. when we gonna meet tyco? you and i are on the same wavelength. ------------------
  8. been thinking of doin some camping lately. i normally like to wait until early spring but i just got a brand new sub-zero sleeping bag so it's all good. in line with that there's always skiing. looks like i'm not gonna make the trip they're planning cause PVD is that weekend. but a nice ride to the mountains for the weekend with half a dozen people or so sounds good. if ya don't ski just sit by the fire and get drunk. i live an hour outside the city, bout 15 minutes from the Delaware River so i don't really have this problem. let me know if i can help ooana. i can always pick you guys up and take you for a scenic ride then drop your asses back off, hehe. btw, it was nice meeting you Saturday. sorry it wasn't such a good night for ya. 9. ok, looks like i'm the bad guy of this post so let me try and clarify a few things. unfortunately this is probably gonna require me getting more personal than i really want to. first of all, if anyone understands depression it is I. In addition i consider myself to be an extremely compassionate and empathetic person. i probably should have elaborated on what i said in the first place. In my opinion suicide is an unintentionally selfish act. this does not mean that suicidal people are selfish. and this also doesn't mean that the only factor involved in one committing suicide is a desire to be selfish in the most perverted of all ways. assuming that we are speaking of only those people who commit suicide b/c they are depressed, and exclude those who are martyrs, cultists (i.e., Jim Jones followers), etc., we must evaluate what exactly is going on in the case of depression. in my opinion, and in my experiences, the depressed person is self absorbed. not in the sense that they only care about themselves or not because they are narcissistic, but b/c they lose sight of everything that is around them, of the big picture. regardless of the origin of the depression, the thoughts themselves that follow turn inward. the outside world ceases to exist, and all that matters is how bad everything is and how painful all those feelings are inside. and at that moment when the decision is made the pain just becomes too unbearable and nothing else and noone else matters. and that to me, like it or not, is selfishness. that final act of desperation fails to take into account all those around you and, to an extent the world itself, which will no longer benefit from your presence. By no means am i saying that the suicidal person is to be ignored or discredited, or that their feelings are unwarranted, or that they should not be supplied with our love and our help. but in every situation i can think of, save perhaps the martyr, the individual is not thinking of anyone but themselves at the time of the act. someone, without chewing my head off, please explain to me how they possibly could be? and as a side note, depression is a hell of a lot more complex than just being self absorbed. obviously external factors play a major role in increasing and decreasing the degree of depression, and chemical imbalances (i.e., the brain doesn't produce enough serotonin) allow these emotions and feelings to get out of hand in the first place. i don't know.... i'm expecting some degree of refutation and hopefully some good dialogue might follow. depression is, and i hate to use this term, a fascinating topic. and no doubt, suicide is tragic. in almost every case, you know the person was hurting inside. and you'd have to be completely calous to not feel some empathay. my condolences to those of you who have lost loved ones and friends to suicide. ------------------
  10. suicide is the most selfish act on earth. it's tragic that people are that distraught and confused... ------------------
  11. you better not be dead....i still haven't met your ass yet. ------------------
  12. i went to boarding school where everyone was either super rich, super smart, or super athletic.... i was none of the above. needless to say i had about 5 friends until my senior year. i was so insecure too. i was a swimmer and i was so friggin skinny it was riduculous. i was also president of the "Sports Collectors Club" one year. talk about asking for an ass-beating LOL. yeh, i'd like to believe i outgrew those days.... someone please tell me i outgrew those days... ------------------
  13. i care about life more than you can imagine. everything in moderation. way to piss off most of the people on this board newbie! ------------------
  14. i like nothing more than a girl who dresses for the occasion. goin to Twilo or Vinyl, "be yourself," dress comfy and/or stylish. goin to Exit or the Factory, get decked out; be risque. goin to Tao for dinner, dress classy yet still somewhat clubby. a personal fav though are that style of pants that sits low on a girls hips so that you can see the top of her g-string or panties....yeh baby! and a style i def don't like are those cropped pants. i've seen very few chicks that can pull that off, JMO. ------------------
  15. has it really been that long? sheesh, feels like yesterday. "........here I am!" ------------------
