1. You're better off being an adult. Evenings and weekends free, more money, etc. I liked college, but adult life is quite fulfilling as well.
2. 27...and getting older.
3. YOU CAN HAVE HIM! Us Chicagoans really don't want him anymore.
4. I'd LOVE to spin in New York. Check out my site and see if I pass muster.
5. I'm not from the Big Apple, but over here in Chicago, I tend to do a LOT of clubbing alone. My close pals are all into that "I'm too old/tired/broke" phase of their lives to go out and dance, so I hit places I know by my lonesome. The cool part is that I find myself more open and free to socialize with total strangers when I am alone. At Crobar Nightclub, I actually ended up building a small bonding with the regulars that go there. We never see each other anywhere else but there on Saturday nights. 6. CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS CRAP??? They gave the BEST DANCE RECORDING Grammy to that crappy waste of vinyl "Who Let The Dogs Out" by the Baha Men and REMIXER OF THE YEAR went to Hex Hector!!!!! SO WHAT IS THIS SAYING?? That in 2000, a BIG year for dance music, the one tune that best represented the dance music sales and favored community was "Who Let The Dogs Out"??? THAT IS SUCH BULL!!! Let's look at the nominees: Best Dance Recording (Nominees) 1. Who Let The Dogs Out - Baha Men 2. Blue (Da Ba Dee) - Eiffel 65 3. Be With You - Enrique Iglesias 4. Let's Get Loud - Jennifer Lopez 5. Natural Blues - Moby Hmmmmmm...there were a lot of high sellers in the dance scene that they never mentioned. What about Zombie Nation? "Sandstorm" by Darude? "9PM (Til I Come)" by ATB? "Toca's Miracle" by Fragma? While they are the more trendy tunes, they should have still been nominated. AND HEX HEXTOR? That guy is, in my book, the corporate remixer. He makes those "easy-to-swallow-B96-lunch-party-Excalibur-nightclub" remixes that make me puke! The nominees were at least a little more palletable: Remixer of the Year, Non-Classical (Nominees) 1. Deep Dish 2. Hex Hector 3. Maurice Joshua 4. Peter Rauhofer (Club 69) 5. Richard Humpty Vission What about all that great work Ferry Corstein did? What about Lange? I'm sure the people on this board could name a dozen other remixers that should have AT LEAST gotten nominated!
7. I'm pretty much along the lines of "anything that moves me", but I am more favored to fast tempos, energetic sounds, and innovative vibes.
8. Doesn't anyone have any info they can give me?? D-Jam
9. SOUNDBLASTER! I use one, and it is GREAT! It has inputs from all angles, and it records my stuff well. They are affordable, and easy to use.
10. SOFTWARE? I'd rather use a CD mixer from Denon or Pioneer!
11. HOT THREADS is a suggestion. I think.
12. Well, in terms of Rednofive, if you grab a Chicago Reader from any convenience store in Chicago, you can find an ad in section three that will hook you up with comp admission to Rednofive and its neighbor, Fifth Floor. As for the crew at Glow, I am not sure. There were a lot of drug busts at Glow and Crobar last year. Chances are that the "crew" either moved on or was taken away. Other exciting suggestions...hmmmm. Well, one of my favorites is Mad Bar in the neighborhood of Wicker Park. They play a lot of good deep house. There is Circus near Crobar. They are a little more trendy, but they get a good turnout. Other than that, try Big Wig on Division, or if you want to make the trek, Mission in the town of Elgin. Hope this helps. 13. Hello to the BIG APPLE from Chicago! My pals and I are heading out to NYC in early May, and I wanted an little inside information on the scene. I came there once and saw Twilo and Sound Factory. Twilo was ok, but kinda dead (I think I was there too early...between 11 and 2 AM). Sound Factory was still under construction. 1) Did they get the remodeling done on Sound Factory? 2) Is Limelight any good for a fanatic of trance and deep house? 3) Are there any ways to avoid cover charges at Limelight? 4) Any other places I should check out to see some good DJs playing some progressive music? I don't want to hear trendy music. 5) Is Webster Hall worth a visit? Ive heard some of the CDs. 6) I'm 27 and I heard Webster Hall is an underage club. Would I be able to get in? I know this looks like a lot, but I know the Chi-town scene pretty well. Now I need help from you NYC clubbers so I can get to know the scene.
