2. I'm headed to Crobar on Wednesday night (3/28/01) to see Psycho-Bitch spin an old school set. If anyone wants to meet, I'll be on the catwalk between 10 and 1. D-Jam
3. Ok...why not...here's ME!
4. If you need boards to go crazy on, I have three you can play with. Click on the banner below and head to "Message Forum" within the site. D-Jam
5. HELLO NEW YORK!!!!! My name is D-Jam, I am a clubber/DJ/enthusiast from the Windy City of Chicago. I'm going to be heading to NYC on April 27 and staying through May 6, and I plan on hitting Sound Factory and Twilo as well as see the sights with my pals. Now my current NYC contact/buddy has moved to Staten Island and she already tells me that she can't play much that week. My buddies are nice guys, but I can forsee the "I'm too tired" or "that's not my scene" or "$30 to get in???" statements coming from them when I want to hit the clubs. So are there any non-psycho clubbers out there that wanna meet up when I get there? Drop me a line (or better yet, e-mail me) and let me know.
6. Besides trance, I also love house and garage, and I especially have a love for all the music that was played at the Roxy's glory years of the early 1980s (and I'm from CHICAGO!) I also have a fond love for that classic punk sound of CBGBs like the Ramones, Television, and the Sex Pistols.
7. One example of a b-side tune. On Daft Punk's record "Da Funk", they included an extra tune "Musique". That is a b-side tune.
8. You are right on the nose. 12 inches stands for the fact that the records DJs use are 12 inches in diameter. The PITCH control is the secret in blending records. If you have one record that is 128 beats-per-minute (BPM) and another that is 132 BPM, the PITCH controls will make the 128 BPM record faster to match the 132 BPM. Cartridge is the needle on the turntable. Most needles are two parts, a cartridge and the stylus. The stylus is the small plastic thing that has the diamond tipped needle. When a DJ breaks a needle, he has to get a new stylus. The cartridge is the electronic shell that holds the stylus and transmits the signals from the needle to the equipment. All dance music is in 4/4 time, hence the term "four on the floor"
9. Personally, I think ANYTHING that is not pop crap like Britney Spears or NSYNC is good in my book. Maybe Daft Punk tried to cash in on that disco-funk-groove they found in "Homework" but "Discovery" makes me move, groove, and enjoy myself. I also agree that the radio did play out "One More Time" but that only means it was that good of a track that both the underground and the mainstream scenes got into it. We should not dis a tune just because the radio plays it. Besides, there will always be remixes!
10. When I get out of a club full of pounding music and I am on my way home, I actually like finding one of those Fine Arts stations that play chamber music and symphonies. VERY relaxing!
11. WATER! Alcohol makes me sleepy.
12. I say tell him/her. You are better off getting things out in the open because if you don't... 1) you will ALWAYS be uneasy around that other person because of your feelings. 2) you will be constantly asking yourself, "What if?" If your friend cares enough about you, then he/she will work with you on this, so if he/she does not feel the same way, then he/she will try and help you get through this instead of running away. If he/she runs away, then I guess they did not care much about you or is too afraid to face the truth. PLUS...you never know...he/she may also be hot for you!
13. I just like "Peace" or "PLUR" when I am in the scene, like at a club. It fits that atmosphere better. I say "see you later" or "bye" in the normal 9-5 life.
14. My name is MUD! No, it's really Alex.
15. I like BANG Fridays at Crobar with Chris Gin. You can hook up on his guest list by sending him e-mail at chris@rollin.com Another cool choice is Smart Bar with Darrell Woodson. D-Jam
16. My handle is D-Jam
17. These politicians are out of their minds! If they shut down all the clubs, there will be a significant rise in raves, loft parties, and other secret after-hours affairs. These jerks need to start WORKING with the scene instead of DESTROYING it! D-Jam
18. I'm close to DER. I started off with Medusa's back in 1990 when I was 17, now 10 years later at 27, I still like to go. Too bad none of my pals like to go anymore ! D-Jam
19. Well, it could either be 1) He wants women to stay away from him (one of those good-looking guys who gets hit on a lot) 2) He wants to try and attract those silly gyrls that think they can change a gay man.
20. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOKAY!!!! I dunno about you women, but as a guy, I have NEVER found a clean toliet in ANY club, either in New York City or here in Chicago. I remember CBGB's in the Bowery. YIKES!! I was afraid to even piss in there!
21. I like Oakie, but $40 per ticket is not worth it for me to see him live. The tix are really $24 each, but Ticketmaster is adding $16 worth of fees and garbage to see him. So I guess that means no Oakie for D-Jam. D-Jam
22. Unlimited? Do you mean Untitled on Clark Street? Other places I can suggest: Another Level The Alley Windward Sports That's what I know. D-Jam
23. I have CDs for sale off my web site...check them out.
24. I remember that gal who got herself off sitting on her home stereo woofer in that Howard Stern movie!
