  17. Coming Saturday, September 15, 2001 THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS Kenosha, Wisconsin Being young and restless is the first phase of becoming a Master. In order to become a Master you must first be a beginner. The beginners know what they want but don't know how to get there. The Masters know exactly what they're doing. Beginners learn how to become Masters by practicing their skills. The performers here all started as beginners, but now, they're well on their way to becoming Masters. They've worked long and hard to develop and hone their skills. Tonight, we test those skills. Judge for yourself whether they are beginners or Masters, and after tonight, let it be known that they are no longer "The Young and the Restless". An all-out affair will take place at a safe and legal venue out in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Three large rooms with three sound systems, lightshows and visuals to make you move all night and into Sunday morning. 20. What is he supposed to do? Tell someone that is interested in his talents that he refuses to take the big money and further his career in the name of the music? That is even more ridiculous. The big problem with everyone and Oakenfold is that he never changed. The thing everyone is really mad about is that Oakie is not the private pleasure of the deep clubbers and ravers, but now a household name to the juicers and glammers. I don't think paying $40 to see him is worth it, but that is me. I'd rather pay $10 to go see local DJs play their hearts out. If Oakie is worth $65,000 because people are willing to pay loads to see him spin. Regardless of whether or not these people are as deep into the music as the people here are, Oakie needs to pay his bills, and he is the man in demand. he found success DJing and now his fans think he sold out. You honestly show me ANY DJ that would not take up on that if they were in that kind of demand, and I would say he/she is insane. I heard Oakie's old sets, and I heard his recent ones. He hasn't changed. The scene did.
  21. HEY!! That looks like GLEE CLUB night at Crobar Nightclub! D-Jam
  22. Looks man, for a while, even I hated BBB because of all that UC/IHR booty house he would pump. Now? Now he finally got himself together and he is stronger than ever, thus earning my respect back. (whatever that is worth). I'll put it this way to the NJ man. You can rag on BBB all you want, but your scene is stuck with a horrid monster - DJ SKRIBBLE. D-Jam
  23. I don't watch MTV for the main reason that I do not have cable. In my opinion, in the times that I had cable and saw MTV, I feel that this station has gone to the point of DEFINING youth culture. I'm not sure if it is their fault or the fault of all the masses of "sheep" that allow their lives to be shaped by MTV. All I do see are a lot more women showing that blonde hair and dressing like Britney Spears (thankfully no one from this board), and a lot more guys trying to look like a member of NSYNC, and everyone acting as shallow as the Real World cast. For a look at the situation in Chicago's Real World filming, head to this link: Real World Order
  24. Of all things, when I want to wind down after clubbing, I click on the Fine Arts stations and listen to symphony or chamber music. Very soothing.
  25. Hey man, I feel for ya. We have the same problems in Chicago. Mad Bar was closed down and it's going to be a restaurant. Crobar Nightclub is on the verge of losing its license. We lost Shelter and Karma. The pain is felt all over the country. As for the pills, I agree with you, but a lot more people will just tell you that drugs are a part of the scene, you can't stop it, and the government should just leave everyone alone, yadda yadda yadda. I fought that fight before and I fell on deaf ears, so my advice is sit back, let more places shut down and just say "I told you so". You want crazy? Take a look at the Chicago scene and how insane the authorities have gotten with the drug war. The only consolance I can give is that there will always be a new place. You guys lost the Paradise Garage and Twilo filled that void. Sooner or later, there will be a new place. D-Jam
