How is this club? Is there a dress code? How much are drinks? How is the sound system? What time does it close...or what time will it be closing during the WMC? Where is it...South Beach area? Going down for WMC, and I just wanted to know what this place was like. Thanks.
  2. Hey Saleen, Why bash promoters when they're the reason why many people find out about parties? Maybe some of them get annoying but they're a big reason why parties happen.
  3. Why oh why does it have to be Exit?! This is what's wrong with Twilo shutting down. There aren't any good venues for great DJs to spin at anymore. Vinyl would be good, but it's too small and they wouldn't play his type of music there. NYC needs help!
  4. Hello everyone, For those of you who have expressed interest, thank you. This is definitely a great opportunity to get inot the industry! You'll also have a great time at the WMC when the SoulKool guys fly down from NYC. I wish I could go, but it may not happen. So, once you guys have joined, feel free to IM me at MScheiss. I'm always around. I'd like to get to know some of you! Mike
  5. Sup guys, Ministry of Sound is looking for dedicated fans of electronic music to join their street team! Street teamers promote music from the MOS label, and in return, they receive many free limited gear! This may include free tickets to an event, free T-shirts, CDs, records, record bags, and many more! This is stuff that no one else has because MOS doesn't sell them anywhere. They are given to their street teamers only! And if you're looking to get into the electronic music industry, MOS is a good connection to have since they are the largest dance label in the world. So if you are interested, please email Masa at xangme99@yahoo.com Masa is the LA regional representative and coordinates the promotional activity for MOS. You can also IM him at h8 trends. Join the movement! Mike
  6. So it's all about money to you?? If it is, then I'm sorry, but you're one of the misguided so called fans of electronic music. The problem with the scene these days is that people are motivated by money. They won't do it because they love it, but instead, they'd only do it if they got money in return. If that's the case for you, then I feel sorry for you. All of us who work with MOS don't do it for money, even though we are compensated for our efforts. The reason why we succeed is because our group is dedicated to the music, and not the money. If you really are true to the music, you won't promote it for money, but you'd promote it because you simply love it, and would love to see it progress into something bigger. I'm not making excuses, but I'm just telling you about the people we work with. I wouldn't waste my time posting a scam on this message board. MOS has better things to do than to trick people. But if you feel that this is a scam, then the only way to find out is to inquire about it. This is for real, and if you think we're a bunch of fakes, then that is your opinion. But don't throw away an opportunity because of unproven assumptions. It's your choice. We're only here to provide you with opportunities. Mike

  8. You know why many people love "underground" music? It's because it's pure...it hasn't been soiled by commercialism and money. And to these people, it is about the music. They like that music untouched, and they like it underground because they listen to it or experience it in its simplest form. There are no strings attached...no attitudes...no glamour...just good music. True, some underground music is horrible, but it's just as true for commercial music. And people who listen to underground music don't necessarily dress poorly. The majority of them don't feel they need to dress to impress because they are there for the music alone. As for "keeping it real," the underground crowd feel they keep it real because they're there for the music. It's as simple as that. Music, without all those strings attached, is as real as you can get.
  9. So, what club do you think is better these days- Hunka Bunka or Platinum?? While I think Platinum looks nicer, I think Hunka Bunka is much better. And that's because they just get better DJs these days (Max Graham, Dave Ralph...etc). The promoters at that club seem to really care about the quality of music they bring in the club. As for Platinum, it's the complete opposite. Why try to imitate Exit, Roxy and other cheesey NYC clubs by bringing in the same DJs...who spin nothing but garbage? I went there opening night and I was so damn disappointed. I've never been that disappointed in a club in so long! I only went to the Tuesday parties when JM was spinning, but now that it's over, I have no reason to go back. Besides, there's better music right around the corner at Harvest Moon! Hahaha...
  10. I had a really good time at HB. Much credit and gratitude to the Bonsolid crew for booking Dave Ralph and other great DJs. I don't care that it wasn't packed...I had lots of room to dance! I think the Jersey crowd is getting a good lesson in quality electronic music. Dave Ralph finished his set pretty strong and got me jumpin...I also lost my voice!
  11. Anyone know where I can get the most comprehensive list of record shops in NYC? I'm looking for all types of electronic music and downtempo beats. Thanks.
  12. Finally...more breakbeat parties! Damn, I can't get enough of it. Keep me posted on the parties. And how are the Pseudoden parties? I have yet to check them out...but it looks like good friendly fun!
  13. I hear from my sources (MoS) that PVD cancelled his gig at the Roxy on the 29th of March. I just checked his site, and they took that date off his gig list. Anyone hear the same thing?
  14. you see? some shit went down between the two of them. i got reliable sources...i kid you not.
  15. For the best house in NYC, go to Vinyl. It's only 18 to get in, but that's because they have no liquor lisence. Still, it's definitely worth checking out Danny Tenaglia.
  16. Exactly smokesum! Everyone's just gotta stop trying to be everyone else!
  17. Did anyone hear about that fight between Draper and Tiesto last time he spun at Exit? I have a friend who is good friends with Draper and he says that Tiesto was a complete asshole...spilling his drink on Draper's records and all that. I heard Tiesto also messed up the Denon CD players on purpose just to fuck up Draper. So, I'm not sure if Exit would want him back again. But that's just speculation.
  18. Everyone who goes to Exit, Sound Factory, World, and Roxy (Fridays at least) looks the same!! All the guys have the same haircut, same hairstyle, same clothes, same everything. That's the same for girls too! Whatever happened to being original? Why do you want to look like everyone else? It's so lame! Everytime I see kids walking out of these clubs I keep thinking I saw the same guy walk by 10 mins before, when it's just another guy who looks the same! What's up with that?
  19. I don't know...I have sources from Ministry of Sound who say he will be here late March. We'll see...
  20. BG, What kind of music do you spin? Will it be like what you spin at Queens or will it be different? If you play Diskotek by Hamel and Blackwatch, maybe I'll go! Hahaha...
  21. Where does MM spin? Maybe I'll check him out. And as for the electronic music scene in the US, it's very different from Europe. You have to consider the geography. Everything in Europe is so close together that it's easy for the music to diffuse into other countries, but here, the sound is different in many places. The NY, Cali, Detroit, and Miami sounds are all different. They develop in their own ways. The funny thing here is that KTU and all those cheesey stations are considered commercial and mainstream, while Ministry of Sound, Gatecrasher, etc. are considered to be "underground" in the relative sense. Back in England, they are all mainstream. While the US is definitely a couple years behind the music in Europe, the two are very difficult to compare. The sound varies wherever you go in the world. And it's especially difficult for the US to develop its own unique sound when it is so big. Hmmm...does that make sense? Maybe I'm rambling.
