  1. Just saw this few days ago. Serge Devant and Filo and Peri at Avalon on friday night And its 10 bucks advance tickets from wanttickets.com def much better than spending like 45 - 50 at crobar. I seen Serge Devant play at crobar several times and he was off the hook. I never saw Filo and Peri play in NYC before but if their sets are as good as their productions this should def be one sick night Anyone else going? www.myspace.com/sergedevant www.myspace.com/filoandperi

  6. same situation as most people. this big grand opening bullshit that only people on the LIST could get in.. meanwhile i called them up and i read on the messageboards all week-- NO LIST they said had my friend from north carolina who loves the crobar in miami who came up to visit and check out the club for the weekend. WHAT A FUCKIN WASTE!!! And then SPIRIT. all i can say is wow. another fuckin disaster. the club looks amazing. last night we paid 25 bucks to walk into a club with fuckin santa clauses. even the girl workin the check coat agreed with the fact that we left 15 mins after being there. what the fuck is up with these stupid clubs? when are they gonna get their act in gear?
  7. BEST DANCE CD IN THE WORLD!!, November 6, 2002 Reviewer: A music fan from Paramus, NJ USA I bought this album because a friend of mine is a huge dance fan and plays Louie Devito CDs all the time. I only got it for the one song (L'Italiano) that they play all the time on the radio but the rest of the CD is amazing. It is not like a regular dance mix where the songs are so obscure that you don't even know them. It is 2 CDs worth of cool songs that are playing in the clubs and are remixed so that everyone will want to own it. I definitely recommend this CD to dance fans but also people who aren't fans of dance music will enjoy this CD too. If I had to sum up this Cd in one phrase: "IT IS A FUNKY, SEXY CD THAT EVERYONE NEEDS TO OWN!!!" NOW THAT IS FUNNY WHOEVER WROTE THIS IS A REAL WINNER!

  17. this is a great post i found on another thread in boston section... However, clubplanet, while functioning as an excellent website, is teeming with assholes - you can't change that. I for one like all sorts of electronic music - progressive, breaks, house, and of course, TRANCE. I don't think I will ever understand the fierce resentment people like to display towards certain genres; they act as if its some sort of contest, or turf war. I don't think that many people understand the fragility of "the scene". Electronic dance music is an entirerly new movement; it's revolutionary when compared to the great music phenomenons of the past (blues, rock, hip-hop). Its brought with it a new party culture (clubs) and most importantly, new ways of making music (electronic instruments). Ever been to a rave? Nothing like this has ever been seen before, but at this rate, we're lucky if people even remember in 20, 30 years. The scene is also battling some nasty enemies: the decline of the album, the limbo that is online music, NYC nightlife going down the toilet, etc. etc. This shit started in the underground, so I can understand the dedication people have to it - they don't want to see their music corrupted, and that is great. However, if people want to see this thing survive so that others will be able to look back and recognize its importance, they'd do well to listen more and talk less. Bottom line is that I see people pop a lot of shit on this board; mad posts about "my love for this music, my love for the scene", and then I see the same people trashing another post for no good reason, usually because of a difference in taste. Not like its going to make a difference here, but buredf has a point; dance music can't afford infighting right now, yet that's what you see. If people were to get a little more open about things, it would go a long way towards setting the whole scene on some stable ground. Oh, and if some knowitall replies saying "dood, do a search we hit this topic already", fuck you in advance. Its the truth, and in the mental wasteland of clubplanet, its better to have it voiced again rather than ignored. I have a lot of time and money invested in the scene, and I don't want to see it die. Why? Because its the purest embodiment of a good time I've ever known. Last edited by mrslick on 09-04-2003 at 03:33 PM
  18. yo slick well put but like its almost pointless to present your point of view with some people because they are just ignorant. and i am not saying people cant not like trance but do we need to go so far as for someone to sit in photoshop to create a banner
  19. sorry to offend u messageboard buddies. we are all big and tough men online
  20. yeh mr brain over there.. theres two sides too every situation but whats the need to sit there and insult the music, say the event was stupid. don't you think that if america had many more events like this that the scene would be alot better everywhere? tell me the reason for criticizing the event... theres a thing called constructive criticism and alot of people here do not know what it means
  21. take your bullshit and just go elsewhere seriously these boards would be alot better w/o people like you
  22. ill say it again like i said on the last pvd thread if you have nothing nice to say shut your fuckin mouth. if you want to look at the facts, their is a reason paul van dyk is as big as he is. if you do not like his musical taste or selection than just dont post here the guy is doin some good things for scene in america. his show in central park was an overall great success and i even spoke to some of the people who have some say in the city and they were disappointed that the event went over so well. what fuckin amazes me is that there are people who are so fuckin stupid out there. whether its a trance event, techno event, house event, whatever it is... if it goes over well, it does the whole electronic dance music scene a world of good. then you got assholes on this board who just have nothing nice to say and gotta downplay the event, the music, the people.. if trance sucks to you, GREAT but keep it to yourself. this messageboard has turned into a fuckin sad case of assholes at their computer who can type nasty things but would never back their mouth up. do me a favor... and just shut up.. the thread was about how pvd was in avalon... if you werent there and you didn't hear the set and u have nothing nice to say than dont fuckin post. people like that = assholes. come on people when are u gonna get your heads out of the shit and see the good when these events go over well.
  23. i just dont get why there are so many fuckin haters on these messageboards. i think pvd in central park was a big step for dance music and dance culture in nyc. the night was a big success in that there was a nice crowd, nice music, and no one was hauled on in a ambulance. clubbers need events like this to be a major success. so if pvd dropped alot of older tracks and played a few songs twice, he was playing for his crowd. the crowd in my opinion were probably not people who have heard pvd too much so he wanted to put on a good show. fuckin people and their criticism. stay home and shut up if all u can do is criticize. instead of lookin at all the good that this event had people look at the bad. and its all the fuckin trend whores and the music heads. try goin out to have a good time and stop complaining about bullshit.
  24. i have heard mojo several times and they are great good luck to you both tonite
