  1. If we have advance tickets are we goin to have wait in line u think? or do u think we will go right in
  2. everyone brings in some valid points into the argument but the problem is that there isnt enough people out there who file share and then buy the cd. see one of the main problems stems from the fact that cds are 20 people feel cheated.. so do i i hardly go out and buy cds anymore for that. think about what drone I'm tired of people telling me about this album and that album they downloaded...meanwhile the artist may be sitting at home, not able to pay their rent or take care of their kids. You think the effect isn't that direct? I'm here to tell you that it is! I have never been one to pretend that I'm rich or living in the lap of luxury. I work my ass off to survive as a musician and DJ. The stealing has to stop. A solution needs to be implemented, and soon. I'm not saying don't download music. But, if you do, pay for it. Go out and find the stuff in a better quality format...vinyl, CD, DVD, whatever. Don't think by snagging the Sasha album or the Underworld album that you're sticking your middle finger at the corporate machine...you're sticking your middle finger up at sasha and underworld, and with your other hand slapping them in the face. it's like eating at a family owned resteraunt, then doing the hog and jog. think about it people. to me this is the truth about file sharing when u look at the artist. someone mentioned selling vinyl as making money see how much real money u an make from selling vinyl? not much theres an influx of garbage and the scene is flooded with bad music that is also hurting us
  3. This was an interesting statement made by a small record label owner I feel your pain on this subject...believe me I do. Owning a label myself, has been a difficult and arduous task these days. It seems that everyone's favourite label right now is the CD-R label. Funny huh? It's not! I'm a big fan of technology and being able to download MP3s, etc... However, I think this is getting a bit out of hand. I'm not going to fly off the handle here, because I don't have a full solution. I just know that as an artist and label owner, I'm one poor ass mo fo b/c of everyone being able to download my music (which I work very hard on), and not buying it. I get MP3 CDs from friends all the time (thank you Ramon). Do you know what I do when I get these CDs and files? I go out and buy the ones that I dig! The same way I used to buy stuff after getting promo CDs from indie labels (and still do). I'm tired of people telling me about this album and that album they downloaded...meanwhile the artist may be sitting at home, not able to pay their rent or take care of their kids. DJ serge

    keep the support!
  6. i really think u took a strong stance on this. Yes the INTERNET has allowed DJ's to get their stuff out and has made things alot more convienent BUT no matter which way u look at it.. the labels are suffering.. and the big ones are suffering.. but the smaller ones even more... did u know kinetic is in the process of laying off almost all their staff?? w/o the labels to support DJ's, you'll be hard pressed to find new music.. the smaller labels are losing enough profits making it very hard for them to stay in business. and btw.. i am tryin to gather opinions.. so just dont go shooting your mouth off so arrogantly
  7. I am writing a paper on this and I am doing research here. As much as we all might love to file share-- it is a major reason the dance industry is being destroyed in the US. Think about this.... The artist create the music, the labels release it and promote it, the DJ and fans support it.. fairly obvious. But what I think people do not realize is that the file sharing is not only hurting the labels, but it is hurting the artist as well.. see big labels like Sony, Arista, they have the capital and resources to continue operating despite all the money they are losing due to file sharing.... but since there are no major Dance labels out there.. they are hurting even more.. so even though u might be file sharing and thinking u are gettin over on the record companies, you are in the process of also destroying the smaller labels who do not have the resoruces to survive.. so think about that next time u file share. everyone has done it... but if u do file share u are a fan on the artist... please go and support them especially in the electronic field..

    DJ serge

dj serge is a DJ from westchester. i have heard several rumours that he did not even produce the song but that he paid people to make the track. despite thats not my concern. d'italiano is a cheese ball track made for release in westchester only.. as far as serge devant.. alot of good trance is coming up from hypnotized records. so get ready for a bangin 2003
  9. i would like to make a formal apology for my comments about strictly rhythm, and my comments about the people at WMC. i am goin through some tough times and i had some major family problems when i made those comments. and although this doesnt justify what i said, i just havent been all there lately. so hopefully the guys i offended are not too upset. i am not a bitter person nor a mean person, i am just goin through some rough times. so i hope this apology is accepted. ok i just wanted it to be clear that the point of my thread really was not to slam labels or any music and although i may not like alot of the stuff that some of the labels i mentioned put out. the point is that i respect it.. and i just got really upset when people on the board were continously slamming trance and i got a bunch of PM's from people who were like FUCK TRANCE ETC... I was not looking to start any trouble. i am one of the first people in line to support electronic music in the states.. so whatever it is.. i am not goin to say i love it all.. but i do respect it and i know that in whatever genre it might be.. it all adds to the support of the scene.. so i hope my feelings are clear.

  13. whoever makes a statement like that obviosuly does not much about the music or the scene. so u should really disregard whatever they have to say.
  14. hey i dont mean to come off as knocking you guys because u are one of the few labels supporting trance and although its not exactly the type of trance i would play out or necessarily write... it is trance
  15. hey sorry i didnt mean to say u dont have artists on the label. i know you guys do. i was meaning more along the lines of dj/producer type artists.
  16. i also forget to mention Kinetic in there.. they are doing the right thing as well..
  17. Am i right or wrong on this issue. I feel the main reason the european dance labels are so far ahead of the american labels is because most of the american labels are all too worried about licensing the hot new track from europe instead of developing their own electronic artist? i mean im sure u all know but heres some examples. perfecto - BT, Jan Johnston Tsunami - Ferry Corsten, Kid Vicious Blackhole - Tiesto, Art of Trance BXR - Mauro Picotto United - Armin Van Buuren Nukleuz - Nick Sentience, Harry Diamond Bedrock - Digweed and theres lots lots more.. Question is other than like moonshine(christopher lawrence, keoki), V2(moby, aprhodite), sondos, SAW(satoshie tomei) and a very few small others... WHERE ARE THE AMERICAN LABELS DEVELOPING AMERICAN ARTISTS THAT ACTUALLY REACH WORLDWIDE STATUS? I mean Tommy Boy was doing really well by developing amber, etc and even though i was not a big fan of the style..they were on the right track.. i guess the music did not have worldwide appeal.. regardless of the Genre of Music.. this is a big part of why electronic music is not like it is in europe. DO people agree or disagree? I am sure there are people from some of the american labels that read these boards. So speak your peace on this
  18. right but what i am trying to figure out is this. walk into love music in new rochelle, walk into george acostas store in miami, just two quick examples off the top of my head and what do u see predominately on the shelves, IMPORTS? so my question is how are they selling imports here and you can't sell an import there? come on, you are really gonna tell me that if you have a hot record, that there is no way to sell it in europe? i find that difficult to believe. i think the main problem you cannot sell stuff in europe is obviously because you guys are more of a licensing house. you license other music of which almost all of it comes from europe and then sell it here. too me thats not what a label is all about. a label is about developing their artists just look at V2 records... thats what they are doing.. and might i add doing it very well.. im not telling you what you should do with your label.. but this is the reason labels like tsunami, perfecto, bxr, etc are all soo successful.. they market and develop their artist.. they expose them.. too bad most american labels like yourselves do not do such a thing. this was a big issue at the wmc.. and this is why the americans labels like strictly etc got so ripped up in the panels..
  19. i hear ya but labels are a business and the way u get ahead in business is going beyond the normal or against the norm.. taking risks. not with me i dont think... but if u happen to run into good trance thats a little more underground and its good sign the artist if united can sell it.. so can you.. maybe not as many in america but in europe u will. give the europeans a reason to believe that american electronic producers are good. there are very few who make the category as being great electronic producers
  20. explain to me how united -- avb's label thought my stuff was quality and you guys didnt pretty funny statement
  21. very well said. very well said. what you guys at robbins are doing is decent with regards to trance. but if u really want to expose trance and get it further try licensing a record from ferry corsten, marco v, armin van buuren, cygnus x something like that see what happens or at least start with a compilation. develop american trance artists instead of just licensing commercial vocals.. thats one of my MAIN points about this thread... the US labels arent doin what the euro labels are doing and thats why it isnt becoming as popular. and i dont think its because theres no material. i have sent u guys some really good trance thats now coming out on another label.. just think there are probably more artists/producers like me out there
  22. oh come on.. how stupid is that codica im not saying similar in the sense that they are musically the same but yo if u know anything about the music.. like hear let me give u an example and this is more technical and you look like a DJ when is the clap ever on the 1 and 3 in any track? or when does the kick play on the off beat consistenly.. my point is that the stlyes are similar in terms of concepts. not per say the music
  23. yo ok so then what do u think we need to do to get beats in general to the public eye? i know i am trying.. i am an aspiring american producer looking to take the scene by storm sometime in the future
  24. so i dont know how thats knockign it because in reality alot of these styles have alot of repition
  25. no im knocking it im saying that all the styles are similar that kid was saying trance is the same shit over and over and im makign the point that so is alot of other stuff
