I think your teacher is ignorant... saying its not music is like saying art created on a computer is not art, who is she to judge.. 1. Does she consider the synths and drum machines used to create dance music since the 70's not instruments? 2. Whats the difference if the 808 kick drum noise came from a box or a computer=same sound manipulated by the "artist" to create. Computers emulate the sound, its up the artist to make it sound good. Teachers are supposed to open minds and expand your thinking...she is way too narrowminded

Last week at crobar between the main room and the vip room there was absolutly no vinyl played after 1am. Stephan Luke was using FS and Mark was using all cds, plus you got Morillo...that was pretty damm convincing to me... I love vinyl....love the sound, love the feel...etc, etc....but most people in a club dont care and can't tell what source your using for sound... I still am buying vinyl but will be looking at a FS system D

Dont really think hip hop outgrew vinyl until pioneer made such a responsive cd player, there is more to a good hip hop dj than some scratching.....but I still think most hip hop djs will resist for a little while longer.. automix on fs...is like those computer created mix cds, you can tell the difference. Who is Mark Brickman?

Gonna finally have to agree on that one, I think it will come done to personal pref...some will always want to play 50% or more of their sets on wax.... But after seeing Mark Leventhal spin a great 4 hr hip hop set with just cds....you know its almost ova... David

Yeah there are still some places with decent prices but I think eventually most stores will have to increase prices, since costs are rising. with digital distrib...no such thing as imports..I love vinyl..but as the major distribution method for single releases its not working well anymore. I wonder if a small dance label can survive by selling $2 protected mp3 files. David

hedging the euro to buy wax, thats an interesting strategy, I'm not there quite yet.. I do think that this will have a negative impact on the ever declining sales. If your product just went up by 25% in a major market your gonna hurt..... Digital distrib has to improve inorder for labels to survive, IMO David

Look like the dance music bleeding will continue....New releases are finally coming out but with the ever falling dollar imports are 2-3 pesos more now...$13 bucks for a 12inch single is painful... purchasing double packs and single sided releases wont make much econ sense... some labels are getting it, with digital distrib...but its usually not brand new releases and still not enough labels are behind it. I love buying and spining wax...but its demise is getting closer... David Alexander
