seriously I see a difference in muscle tone just not enough...

i need to get over this little rut I'm in....

do you work out in the mornings? if you do, and you don't have a snack beforehand, you might have really low blood sugar because you've been fasting for 8 hrs.

if so, eat a banana before you work out.

btw, i dunno how long you've been working out, but in terms of 'seeing a difference in muscle tone just not enough': you need to realize it sometimes takes months before you can really see noticable muscle growth (depending on your curent body fat %). so be patient with your body. :]

  2. although people talk about doing cardio in the 'fat burning zone', it takes longer to burn the same amount of calories that you would burn if you did interval training, tempo work, wind sprints, or what have you as part of a high-intensity workout.

so, while you may burn a higher proportion of 'fat calories' doing 6 mph on the treadmill, you'd have to go for twice as long to burn them as if you did 8.5 mph sprints interspaced with 5.5 mph jogs.

at least that's my understanding of it.

thus, unless you really enjoy cardio or are afraid of feeling the burn in your legs and lungs, i would think that more intense workouts are a better way to go. it's probably a good idea to have a couple of longer, easier cardio sessions as part of your workout, too, so you don't overtrain and for cardiovascular endurance.

  3. i'd tell her that it would be easier to do fun things with her clitoris if there weren't hair tickling your nose.

but if she's really against altering her body in any way regardless of whether it decreases the likelihood you'll spend lotsa time downtown, then either you'll have to deal with the hair or spend less time down there... or find someone else to play with if it matters that much to ya. :|

making incredible gains comes from, in addition to lifting heavy and eating right, not sticking to the same workout for 3 years. your muscles will eventually get used to 5x5, too, and then it'll be time to change up your workout again.

  5. mass is the amount of matter in an object. it's measured in grams, mg, etc. weight is the measure of gravity's effects on mass. your mass stays the same whether you're on the earth or the moon, but your weight changes because gravity changes.

2.2 lbs per kg was always the 'standard' conversion i learned.

i agree with you, but since society encourages men to be logical and women not as much, it's no surprise that men are better at it. practice makes perfect...

  7. culture dictates that men be logical and not emotional, so they act that way. culture dictates that women be emotional, but not logical.

people who are swayed by cultural standards fall into these categories.

well-balanced people are both emotional and logical.

  9. uh, i am HARDLY in the "mindset" that i cannot do a pullup... i simply don't have the strength yet. i am afraid neither of grunting nor of intensity...

if you've read any of my posts, you'd know i'm all about lifting heavy weights, unlike many women who claim to be 'fit'.

the thing is, i don't think i'm strong enough to do 8-10 weighted negatives.

the reason i'm doing lat pulldowns right now instead of assisted or negative pullups is because i can't fit the other exercises into my current rep range (8-10).

quick q for anotherway: do you think that most women can do pullups?

i guess that's what some people on here seem to value... a man's ability to "take care of his woman" financially.

    hellooooooooooo, dark ages...
