  1. just for the record you weren't there so the VIP was on the floor right in front of the booth and I still didnt dance my ass off.

Well what i meant is that his music is best enjoyed on the dancefloor.

I have seen Glaude many times b4 and can understand why you wouldnt like him from what you say but to say he sucks sounds too harsh.

I like his "jumping around like a fuckin fool" because its not only fun to watch him get so into his set but its also a contagious vibe.

  2. Yes the other festivals do bring about 1 or 2 big names and stuff

I dont think 1 or 2 big names will make 40k - 50k people drive from all over the west to attend a festival.

There are other festivals like ULTRA but i will say that their line-ups during WMC are among the best i have seen. I really hope they dont get discouraged by the things that have happened with the city of Miami and continue to have them because its always nice to have that option during WMC.

  3. Yeah yeah yeah whatever. West Coasties can suck a hairy dog bollock

I am in no way implying that the west coast is better or worse. You just happened to agree with something that is not true at all and i just wanted to clarify something here.

As far as the westcoast and eastcoast thing, i could care less what you think because i am part of a scene that will never have boundaries.

Pod, i know you hate the hip hop culture because of the attitude and negative vibe it attracts but im seeing the same from you.

  4. there is no other event like Ultra here in Florida. In fact, there is no other event like Ultra in the states that i know of.
Exactly. Though some twat's bound to mention some cheese-fest out west, but that doesn't really compare.

There were more than a few massives in the past 5 years that were comparable to Ultra. Nocturnal Wonderland is happening this LDW with a great line-up and they are expecting between 20k - 30k people. There is the Electric Daisy Carnival which just happened about 2 months ago and had a turnout of about 15k people. Theres Coachella which is a 2 day event with a sick EDM line-up and live acts like Underworld, Bjork, Beastie Boys. I wouldnt consider these cheese-fests.

  5. it won't come back, even if the economy does come back and people have the discretionary income to buy drugs and party more, something new should come along.. Look at the history of music, nothing EVER comes back...

Were looking at it from different standpoints. House is a way of life for some and not the trend it became. Like you stated "The house explosion" - it became more mainstream to some level and attracted people who cared more about getting fucked up on drugs than the music/dancing/vibe. So if it dies down for some, i dont mind because i would rather party with 300 house heads than 3000 social clubbers. By the way, house will never die! NEVER!

  6. Besides...I wouldn't even define Dan as West Coast House....West Coast House to me is Migs, Jay-J and Chris Lum, Marques Wyatt....Dan is much harder than what people usually think West Coast House is. He's damn Funky as hell and one of the best technical House DJs around.

I think the reason Dan brings it harder is because he was a techno DJ before a house dj. Even now, hell drop some techno-ish tracks in his sets. I just heard him last month and he was definitely harder than the other House DJs that night. As soon as he got on, the people lost it.

  7. SPACE AND OTHER CLUBS ARE NOT SERIOUS ABOUT DRUGS....

true - The way they deal with this problem is ignoring it.

NYC THEY SEARCH YOU, THEY MAKE YOU OPEN UP YOUR CIG PACKS AND BAGS, AND POCKETS... EVEN CELL PHONES ARE CHECKED.. PEOPLE PUT SHIT IN HOLLOW BATTERIES...

Ive heard horror stories about this.

clubbers need to grow up.... and stop doing the drugs

And they need to stop asking just random people in clubs if they know where to get bumps. I hate being interrupted while dancing and some fool asks "you rollin? know where i can get some"

  8. ... there was a million dj dans out there in the 90's, and according to all including me, they all were sick djs.. Then the crowd got off drugs, got jobs and realized the sounds they create is merely two records and some equpiment, they aren't doing any thing special... And now they are gone... long forgotten...

WTF are you talking about Saleena? DJ Dan is still around and kicking hard. He still has huge pull here on the west coast. When he spins out here, even retired clubbers come out to hear him spin.

If you think house is dead, thats just YOU fading out saleena! House can never die! NEVER!

  9. Not all clubs play hip hop msbionik. The problem with the nightlife here is that its so spread out and you have to know where to go so you dont end up at a club that does not meet your taste. So you would probably be better off with a ride.

    Here are some options:

    Thursday 8/21 - DJ Harvey@ Ivar - 6356 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood

    Friday 8/22 - DJ Irene@Red - 333 South Boylston, Downtown LA

    *recommended*Saturday 8/23 - Doc Martin/Robert Oleysick@Spundae - 6655 Santa Monica Blvd, Hollywood

    Saturday 8/23 - FAMILY 213.427.8107

    Saturday 8/23 - Julius Papp@King King - 6555 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood

    Sunday - 8/24 DJ Marques Wyatt w/guest@Deep - 1650 Schrader, Hollywood

  10. That line-up does look kinda weak for 50 bones if your not a PVD fan. We had a similiar line-up for Nocturnal Wonderland the day before miniultra but PVD cancelled. Those tickets were 25 and without him we still have a pretty good line-up IMO. Thats because im more into the house DJs that are going to be there.

BTW, DJ Craze from Miami will be spinning there and i read from another post that he spins hip hop. Is it the mainstream hip hop or the underground type hip hop? I actually have fun watching turntablist in action so what do you guys think? Worth checking out? Is he similar to Z-Trip?
