  12. Atually the last event with FREESTYLE ARTISTS sold out over 7000 tickets in less than two weeks. I would not have believed it if I did not see it for myself, but it happned. As a boy from BOSTON, freestyle was not that big, but here and in NYC it was massive, and now those peeps have kids. This was a big time for dance music in the us. A time when it could have been said that severall of the top artsits were dance artists. in 1982 Afrika Bambatta was the orginator of the 'SYNCOPATED" sound, then it blew up from there after the death of disco. I am writitng an article for a magazine I publish for the station called PDM (PURE DANCE MAGAZINE) a small 16 page handout from our promotions dept. and in it this month I am writing an article on freestyle. Not really my thing, but anything that elicits that much passion from people is something I am all for. Every Generation will tell you how much better it was back in tha day,,,this is thier way of reliving it.

  14. Ok, feeling a lot of love here tonight. Truth be told, I was very much like the rest of you until I learned how radio worked. I am a champion of the underground, and created an entire TV channel devoted to exposing the progressive lifestyle of club and dj culture, it is called A3 and airs every night to over a million households on COMCAST and ATLANTIC BROADBAND. May I ask how you have contributed to our scene? As much as you geniuses are giving me the credit, if I were really running the station it would be the absolute coolest out of business radio station no one ever had a chance to hear. We go through this every couple of months or so, some train spotting house head has a hunkering for starting some shit, so they post about how much Party 93.1 sucks. Bottom line, PARTY 93.1 is not made for you and I, nor is it programmed for anyone who has any knowledge of dance music. It is programmed for those who have never heard it before. And as much as you need to pan it in order to have a topic more interesting to say on this board than "TIMAAAAY!" and "TRANCE SUCKS" bottom line is you are in fact holding our scene from growing and further getting itself into other mediums. I had dinner tonight with Sander K and LP, and learned a lot from simply listening to them speak about their personal opinions about what the scene needed right now to grow. LP - with over 30 years of experience of being a dj, sound engineer, club operator and whatever the hell else he says he does. And Sander, arguably one of the premiere next generation of DJ's who is already setting trends by his use of visual mixing with the new PIONEER DVJ's. The consensus came to be that there was too much division in our community to truly grow the music and its exposure. Trance heads hate house, house heads hate trance, and so on. Bottom line, it's all dance music. I get asked sometimes what my favorite club is, and truth be told, I love them all, they all add to our scene, every Dj ads to our scene, and every partier who brings a friend to a club for the first time to listen and not just get fucked up adds to our scene. So I ask you my friends, when you hear IIO's RAPTURE on the radio, think to yourself how many people are hearing that song for the first time, asking who it is, and taking the time to go on the internet to learn more. Then they are exposed to more of IIO's music, then they hear the remix by Paul Van Dyk, who leads that person into more of his catalog which may lead into Sander K and so on and so on. Soon I will have A3 on 70 million households throughout the US, truly bringing a face to the music I love so much, and the most recent PARTY 93.1 ratings book puts it at one of the top stations in the market. You have three choices.....lead, follow or get the hell out of my way because I have no time for punks who want to hold back the evolution of my scene. Sure, responses to this post will be, “PARTY 93.1 IS BAD FOR DANCE MUSIC†and “BUSTER SUCKS.†I am of the opinion that the more of this the better, it simply gives us something to truly talk about rather than “what are you listening to right now?†For those of you who don't know me, I take what I do VERY seriously. I know that with enough work and passion I can change the face of dance music in the US. Who's with me? buster@cox.com

  21. In March of 2002 my partner David Mardini and I came up with an idea for a television project.....a channel featuring the progressive lifestyle and music of club and DJ culture specifically programmed to be watched late night. We cobbled together about $1000 between the two of us and used our knowledge of the local market to PRE-SELL the project with advertisers. By September of 2002, A3 (Alternative TV) hit the airwaves of MIAMI BEACH to about 100,000 households. Reaction was so positive that within 4 months the project had the opportunity to be broadcast on the mainland, and a fully realized progressive lifestyle channel was born. Now broadcasting to Over a Million households every night from 11pm-6am, A3 brings you the energy, fashion and lifestyle of global dance music. I created this project in order to grow dance music in the US, an opportunity to put faces on our scene and create a music driven, yet artistic style of television not pandering to the lowest common denominator. As of today we have completed 2 Years of television......and now as I work on developing the project in NYC and LA and soon other markets after I invite you all to join me and the rest of the A3 crew to celebrate our birthday. This Wednesday night at AMIKA on SOUTH BEACH we welcome one of our core artists and friend of the channel, platinum selling PRODUCER/DJ DARUDE to provide the soundscape. Whether you love house, trance, D n' B, Hardcore or whatever, this is an opportunity to get your voice heard. On site will be our cameras with open mic's for you to sound off about our scene. Tell us about your most outstanding club experience, your favorite DJ or the time you hooked up with the hottest chick ever! We don't care, A3 was created for you.....we want you to be a part of it. I encourage all supporters of dance music and progressive culture to join us and be heard! To be on my personal guest list please email me at buster@cox.com. If we have not met yet, I look forward to you saying HI. If you have thoughts about the channel, please express them. I have never created television before so the entire process is a learning curve.....but then again, we are not supposed to be like regular TV. We are an alternative to regular TV, so help us celebrate 2 years of A3! I would like to thank my partners, DAVID MARDINI, ANDY RUFFELL, Production Director LUCIANO, Sales Director MATT MCKENNA, PROGRAMMING MANAGER LARRY TURNER, LOUIS PUIG, ARDIS and the SPACE FAMILY, KENNY, BOB and the CROBAR FAMILY, the OPIUM GROUP, AMIKA, DADE AND REBECCA SOKOLOFF, JOIA, PHIL MICHAELS, MIKE DISNEY and the rest of the PARTY 93.1 staff, all of our advertisers, viewers, supporters and friends……I look forward seeing you all on WEDNESDAY NIGHT at AMIKA. If I missed anyone..........thanks. The only way dance music will ever grow in the US is if we can make it profitable to be broadcast on TV and radio…….this is my dream, this is my passion................................here's to the future.
