First, I hope this gets resolved at the meeting today and that Ultra goes on as planned.

They are not saying that they want to shut it down because of drugs. They are saying that they want to shut it down because of drugs and underage kids together. It's very different.

Nothing creates more bed press for a city than a picture on the front page of a 16 year old kid ODing on City property. The Mayor is in cover ass mode. They won't be able to stop it but if anything happens, the Mayor can say he tried to stop it.

Dade, once again I agree with you.

Months ago there was a board debate over Ultra. It is obvious that for economical reasons Ultra is at bayfront, they can market it as an all ages event. And this is the ONLY all ages event during WMC:idea:

By doing this, they lost many who don't even want to cross the bridge and party with teen agers.

The debate now is about the major not if the beach or Bayfront. I know that. Ultra will go on. The major is setting his defense in case someone wants to go after his political career. It is understandable but not justifiable.

Controversy is great for the event. It generates extra TV and press coverage. The number of teen agers who will be denied permission by their parents to attend is less than the number of people who will decide to attend after ALL THE FACTS of the event are presented as a defense argument to the major's position. It is free advertising.

That is why Saleen is so important on this message board. His controversial statements only feed the original subject discussed. Very few of us are actually ever convinced by any of his comments.:cool:

  3. OMG!!!!, Guess I have a reason to visit some of my friends in NYC.

I have been waiting for Tyrant to finally drop by. I will go to NYC 100% sure.

On the other hand, Saleen, you are right. Lee cleared the floor that day. What do you expect. With no offense to Biz, the crowd at Spin was always 95% a "cheeselini" crowd.

Lee should had sticked to play Crobar. That night he blew the roof there.

This board should stop trashing DJs for not delivering to an unreceptive crowd. And that is the clubs and promoters mistake.

What would happen if Picotto plays, lets say MANGO'S??:cool:

    It's a cool thread to do it.:D :D

I started a thread today entitled "New Promoters Of Maze" and it was first meant to be a politically incorrect joke which had nothing to do with the actual club Maze...I erased it right after for reasons I do not have to explain to anyone, much less the promoters of Fridays@Maze...give me a break! For one thing...I have my Fridays activities covered and they do not include Maze...never...ever!

I was the first one to be surprised by the sudden replies to the thread which all pointed to Maze being shut down...I was kind of busy at the time, still at work...and I thought to myself DAMN! I loved Maze's infrastructure since the moment I set foot on that dancefloor and I'm an Aquabooty regular, so the last thing that I want to see is Maze go down...I wish nothing but success to everyone in general and I'm not one to enjoy someone else's misfortune nor defeat...I know better than to fuck with karma...not me...no way!

You know what sucks? I was kind of confused at first, because, for a moment I felt somewhat guilty of starting a thread that took such a negative turn, but nevertheless clear in my concience because I knew I hadn't started the rumour of Maze's closing myself...as it turns out, it was everybody's darling Saleen...what a charmer, that guy.

What really pissed me off was to get a negative PM from a Fridays@Maze promoter whom I've never met and I'm not really looking forward to...I found it an invasion of privacy, a lack of professionalism and what's worst, I felt I was being overpowered and I do not appretiate that from anyone, ever...I understand the passion and the agressiveness of a promoter because I've promoted clubs for years myself, but let me make myself clear...I, like probably many on this board, will never support a party which has no leadership or knowhow of costumer service or public relations expertise, I'm spoiled like that.

From here on, I'm not going to try and remember what I first wrote, it will the same message though.

Big party...big club...it doesn't matter...you still have to be careful with the way you manage yourself, even more so when more to loose is at stake...trust me, there's a moral to this story...If you do not enjoy the principal attributes a club promoter should have, which in my opinion are: charm, personality and good manners...then you are still green and have lots of experience to gather...I chose to erase this post at first but in respect to Joe and Sunny who both wanted it back...here it is...trust me, I don't care who you are, who you know and certainly do not have any interest on your success or defeat...that is only up to you and you will be the only one to prove to all of us if you have the right stuff or not...no hard feelings from the Funk, I hope I didn't sound too patronizing, it was not my intention...or was it?

    peace and chicken grease

    Funk

Our party will have a monthly formatt for now. Will have a gipsy soul, so be ready after WMC, we will go where our hearts and believes take us. Starting mid-April, when we celebrate the first year anniversary of P:M Sessions.

P:M Sessions new resident is South Florida's DJ/Producer:

    AUSTIN LEEDS

Here is a little info on Austin, posted on another thread on this board:

    ______________________________________________

    AUSTIN LEEDS

    Bedrock Records // Saw Recordings

As a dj, Austins technical ability and flawless programming

rank him among the best. His sets being renowned for

their seamless integration of deep, driving basslines and

swirling atmospherics, luring the crowd into a hypnotic

frenzy. Austin has played some of the biggest and best

clubs and parties in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong,

Malaysia, Mexico, England, and the USA. One of Austin

Leeds productions is featured on the compilation cd

Communicate. The only dj mix cd ever to crack the billboard

    top 200.

    _______________________________________________

We have been following Austin for quite a while. His newer sounds fit perfectly the direction we want to take the party this year. These new sounds, which can be heard in his Electro-funk and Proton Radio Session, can give you an idea of what to expect.

Our party has gained in creativity with the addition of Carla to our team. Her marketing abilities and musical knowledge well known by many in this board. We will make sure this time our party has the room to grow. Because we will depend exclusively on our believes, morals and respect to music, how it was meant to be.

Both Chris and Mono will continue to be a part of our family as well. Just to update you guys, Chris Duque played as main act last February 14th, at the opening of a brand new club in San Salvador. 1200 people who enjoyed Chris' natural abilities and exquisite selection. He will be back there soon.

We are proud of having Austin join us. Welcome to our family Austin. And thanks for believing in what we are doing.

    Peace,

    MD

Great news. Austin Leeds is a wicked Dj and producer. :aright:

I was referring to the tall black guy. Not Morillo (shorter):cool:

  9. There are few times when I don't care about DJs using the horn.

Last night during Morillo's set, this dude kept on blowing it. Morillo would try to stop him, like "it's enough".

Do you guys dig DJs using them? How often, if ever?

Once I saw Bellini at Spin. He must have been a truck driver before being a DJ, or maybe he still is. He used that horn even to ask for another beer.

    1) shuch is pronounced in french/english like that. It is written such.

    2) Fuking, could be a combination of fucking and puking, as when you say "that fucking DJ makes me puke (verb: to puke / action=puking)

    3) The rolleyes at the end of my post are to imply it is a joke.

    4) Do you play a tape at Nikis? Your music sounds the same the past eighteen months.

    5) Welcome to the board. Enjoy your stay. BTW I saw you reading a few days back.

    6) You suck as a DJ. Every one has his opinion.

    7) How much do you charge to play for a year in Nigeria? We will pitch in nationwide to book you.

    8) Never take things personally. This is only a message board. ;)

And Again, you suck as a DJ. :D:cool:

  12. I would give Eddie the benefit of the doubt. But it is going to be an uphill task. He posted it was going to be a great night but no one showed up.

Aside from the PMS / Deeper Substance party on the 24th and the Mr. C party (Sobe Spots nite) Maze has done nothing to make me believe they will.

Good luck Eddie. We will try to show as much support as we can.

BDB is the second oldest party in the beach. And people pay $20 every Monday without a guest DJ of the kind of Eric Morillo and Josh Wink.
