My conclusion:
Maze sucked as a venue and as event promoters for Tyler. Sounds the same but it isn't.

Anyone know whats with the new clubs they are opening by Space Downtown?
From what I read on this board last week there is a club opening called The Beach. Check the thread a couple pages down on this board. Hope that helps.

I warned Tyler on the way to Philly a couple of weeks ago. He heard of about the Paolo Mojo fiasco and I just wanted to give him a heads up that Miami isn't the easiest place to play at among other things...
Such a shame because he really is a fantastic dj and extremely humple person. No biggie though, he's touring all over europe which is why he won't be in Miami. At least there people will appreciate his sound and after what happened last night, do you blame the guy if he never wants to play in 'plastic city' again?
Diego and Lenan. I believe both of you are in NYC. We are not Alabama or a "plastic city" just because of what happened. I believe Space, Crobar and ex-Spin have done it the right way. I'm sure Tyler would have blown the roof at Crobar. Realize something, Crobar had Edgar V for the first time there and he rocked. And Crobar is a house club. It has to do with attracting the right crowd. To the main floor of course.
I still believe that Crobar and Space are among the top clubs in the country. The city can't be labeled for what Maze has done. They are in the bottom tier in Miami, except for Saturdays, which is a "circuit nite".

im a big fan of space for the reason wear whatever and dance and shut up.
I read you. I just tried to tell you the times I've been there it wasn't a "look at me I'm cool" crowd. On the other hand. It was a "play low even if I'm a celeb" attitude. But every place has its bad nites.
This Skybar is very different from the one in L.A., where people are there to "shine". In any event, after a couple drinks, and a nice breeze to bs my date, I take off to my final destination. Just as I would do if I "start" my night at Blue, or Ted's. BTW, I also like Crobar and Space to club because you can just be yourself.

That’s truly sad!!! I don’t understand how something like this could happen? What is it that people in Miami do not understand? I’m not bashing anyone because a lot of you are good friends and I know you care about the scene…but for fucks sake, WAKE UP MIAMI!!! Do you guys understand what you have? A brand new club, modeled after one of the most legendary clubs in the world. Twilo! Not sure how many of you have ever been, but from what I know Maze is way bigger then it, but yet the vibe and support are probably equal to 1/10 of what Twilo had. Why? Seriously, what’s the deal…why the lack of support, the lack of interest…you’ve had some great talent come through the place in the first couple months of it being open, but yet it seems the bigger the name, the less the draw.
You had Tyler Stadius, (Fabric resident) to only be shut down at 3:30? Move him to Lime Bar, WTF??? This does not look good in the eyes of the DJ, and when that happens, you bet your money it will get back and people will not want to come through anymore. Sad, extremely sad. You have some of the most dedicated promoters trying to make a difference and yet it’s just one big flop after another. I’m not just saying this because I have anything to do with Modernism...because I am physically not in Miami to be doing this…but it makes it hard for anyone to want to continue bringing in talent, and even wasting their time when no one seems to care.
Sorry for the rant, but I just hear one bad thing after another happening in the Miami scene, don’t become the Alabama of the dance music industry!

I didn't go there, went to Crobar. But for some good reasons. I had a personal invitation to witness Edgar's first Crobar gig. And for last night, not the last.
Coming back to Maze, I have a few questions.
Who opened for him? Disrespectful and unprofessional if the guy banged too hard.
Think about this. All the investment made is good if you have money to invest. But:
1) Who is the manager at Maze?
2) Do they have a guy from the music industry running it?
3) Are the promoters the right promoters?
4) Is the crowd they attract a music crowd or vipish?
5) Will a crowd ever fill the dancefloor other than a Sobespots crowd? (Mr. Cs nite)
6) Who is their resident DJ?
Something is clear. There are two weekends left before WMC. Rain starts a house night on Friday March 7th. Nerve opens the following weekend the latest. Space 34 will try to reinvent their Fridays once they open. Crobar has regained their Friday strength. Spi has a great Friday next week with Conficios and Stryke and Sean B. And plus you have the Privees, the Opiums, the Mynts, the Tantras, the Pearls. Should I add Club Deep to the list? They surely make more money than Maze.
BTW, just read the lineup of Nerve. How come they can get Digweed and Maze can't? It has to do with believing in the people running the club. Because Last WMC Lola and Digweed had a close relation. Not the case now.
Come on people, add to this thoughts seriously not bashing for the sakes of just bashing.

From a six year local bartender "Nicest place I've worked. People come to chill without any attitude".
I guess it all depends on the night not what day of the week. The times I've been there I've seen a confortable atmosphere. Nothing like Mynt on a weekend.

THIS IS A SECRET MANIFESTO THAT WILL EXPLAIN YOU IN PROFOUND DETAIL (AND EVEN SOME EXCESS OF ZEAL) THE ENTIRE DARK CONSPIRACY BEHIND....
NERVE!
Well, somebody had to say BASTA to all these clubs in Sobe with white walls, white curtains, white beds...BASTA! These places seem to be replicating like viruses and nowadays we only go there on Opening Night. Somebody please do something about this! If not, we are going to have to take matters in our own hands and our fingernails may get dirty!
So, OK it's up to us then… Therefore we decided to open NERVE, an environment so rarefied that people could asphyxiate in it, except for the fact that they are used to that, and besides, they are evil! Yes, slimy socialites of the World, get some NERVE!
And when would the fabulous opening extravaganza be? We promise it will happen someday in the near future with an unforgettable party and an upcoming invite that has your name on it, so don't worry, you wont miss it! Our hint of a date is…”The Ides Of March” and we all know sufficient Ancient Roman History to know what day of the year that is!
The most outlandish of all features NERVE promises to display is a décor that will change radically, totally and completely every 45 days! Each décor will be theme oriented, ranging from “Mount Olympus” (with Greek statues and that sort of thing) to “May 68 Revolution” (with fake protesters throwing papier-mache stones at you) to “DR NERVENSTEIN’s" Laboratory,” where the unsuspecting clubgoer may be subject to scientific experiments….
NERVE glows in the dark (metaphorically speaking), and will gather to the Social Underground as well as to the Gilded Gutter and the Grooveau Riche! All of this, without alienating the BOBO's (Bourgeois Bohemes) so necessary to the maintenance of Sobes's condo status quo.
NERVE is a Fresh new place located in an old Crack-Alley that, by one of those Sobe Miracles, became now an up-and-coming cool neighborhood, soon to be renamed NERVILLE, thanks to the abnegate efforts of a group of concerned citizens that have no other vested interest in this endeavor except for the ownership of all the Real Estate in the area...
Three absolutely wonderful and adorable gentlemen are behind this project, they could not be nicer, you better believe. They are: RUDOLF, the only guy that has been in the club business longer than Regine, but he looks much better than her; DJ MICHAEL STORMS who can whistle every song he ever played in his long and productive carrier; and MARIO SOPENA, who invests in Real Estate, and is busy rehabilitating neighborhoods, of course...
Aside from that, NERVE has the NERVE to feature a "PHAZON" sound system designed by Steve Dash, guaranteed to realign your lungs! Derek "twilo" Vazquez conceived the Lights (as we said, it glows in the dark...). All in all, NERVE promises also a great mix of people, twisted events nightly, evil clowns everywhere !…
The WMC program at NERVE will be eclectic, unpredictable, challenging, and full of surprizes. And it will be GOOD! Very GOOD! You've got some NERVE to doubt that!
Have Fun; get some NERVE!
Nerve Lounge
247 23rd street
Miami Beach, FL. 33139

I'm excited.
But, will it be more of a Nerve Lounge or Nerve Club?
