Dance music is like protesting LOL! actually music in general is about having fun and that's definitely what dance music is about. It's all good if you want to make this event or any type of music a political thing (God knows everyone wants music to stand for something) BUT it's not a political thing at all it's just about having fun. And before you get your panties in a bunch don't worry I know that the clubs and big events are somewhat political (in the business ends of things) as far as the typical fan of music (rock or dance) they really don't care about the politics (of dancing LOL) at all they just want to have fun. Next Saturday @ Club Flow in WPB???

I thought GG was an electronic fest myself but it's not looking like it that's all I'm saying. Whether ya go to GG or UMF doesn't matter unless you're going to GG for EDM.

WTF? I just heard that the Global Gathering event set for March in Miami is going to consist of mainly Heavy Metal and Hip-Hop. I got a list of some of the bands playing and I am TOTALLY DISAPOINTED! I thought this was going to be a big dance music event but it looks like they have gone for the metal rock and hip hop crowd instead. Here are some of the bigger names I heard were playing for Global Gathering: Chambers and Cambridge, Rise Against, Coheed and Cambria, Nine Inch Nails and Tap Root. I just went to the websites to sample their music and it sounds like pop metal S*%@! I thought they would at least get an act like Underworld or Paul van Dyk. OR a top 5 dj, AT LEAST! What a let down : (

I don't think it has anything to do with the IN thing at all. What no one has really mentioned here is those who are getting older seem to be switching to house. I think this has something to do with the Trance to House and not the other way around. I will use myself as an example. It's not meant to say that this is the correct answer but a plausable answer to the fact that people have switched from Trance/prog House to house music. I use to go out and dance my ass off all the time back in the 90s. In fact you could not get me off the dance floor listening to the early rave tracks of the 90s to the Sashas, BTs, Crystal Method's Nick Warrens, Dave Seamans Paul Oakenfolds, Orbitals, Orb, Joey Beltrams, of yesteryear. Now that I've gotten away from the heavy partying that I did when younger, I found myself leaning towards house music. Progressive House and Trance is more energetic on the dance floor than House is. I always think of the big clubs doing the trance and prog house. The House I now am into is more for a lounge setting. Which suits me now that i'm not on the dancefloor like I use to be. Like I've mentioned before I still listen to Prog House and Trance. ON CD or DVD, or MP3. But the majority of the time If I go out I will listen to House Music at a Lounge drink my drinks with my friends and hang out. To me it's not an IN thing. But then again I've never been into the IN thing I'm just hanging out with my friends who happen to love House music and occassionally they'll put in a prog house or trance track and I'll just reminisce about the days you could only find me on the dance floor at a club. just my 2 cents peace,

I've always been into prog house/trance and before then I was into deep House from NY. Being that I was born and raised in Orlando, I got into the breakbeats and drum n bass. BUT I have always loved Prog House and the Deep and Tech House sounds that have evolved. I guess it depends on my mood as to what I listen to. When I don't listen to any EDM then I'm listening to Depeche Mode, New Order, the Cure, even No Doubt, and alternative (modern rock) rock music. But back to the EDM shall we: I have and am still listening to Prog House, Trance, and House music. That's what moves me Be it: Sasha/Digweed, Tiesto, Sandra Collins, Saeed & Palash, Noel Sanger, dj Heather, ECB, Lawnchair Generals, dj Mea, Riot Gear, Mathew Dear, Brando Ness, Les Goodrich, DJ Joshua, James Stratus, dj solange, Der Stokes, any Naked Music set, Subliminal set, or whatever. I listen to it I party to it and it moves me. I've also got into some breakbeat/vocalists like DJ Keri, who've blown me away with their mixing and vocal arrangements. Vocalists like: Janel Roland (house/deep House), dj Colette (funky house), have also appealed to me as well. Well in a nutshell I listen to Prog House, Trance, House (deep, funky, experimental), and ocassionally breakbeats as well. It's all music to me. Whatever moves me at that point in time I'll listen to. You'll catch me at House Parties more often now then back then. As far as the big names in the genre I'll buy a CD I'm more into the local Florida DJs and out of town Djs that are coming up then any of the big names in the industry. If you want to hear some quality House or Prog House then refer to the names I've mentioned earlier (the ones you might not recognize) and you'll see what I mean Just my 2 cents peace,
