  2. Most of the time when Paul Van Dyk is at a venue "There is no guest list tonight" because people will pay anyways. Im just glad I dont.
  3. come on guys. Were all on here to have fun
  4. I Hear that. On 6/21 i flew to San Francisco to see the man my self. PVD the only DJ I would pay to see spin.
  5. I will have to say that out of all the venues in NYC there are 2 specific venues that have outlasted the pack and not have infinate problems with "society" I have to give Kudos to the Roxy and Webster Hall. I mean, my mom and aunt used to go to the Roxy, and my Uncle used to play Jazz @ Webster. I know that Limelight...I mean "Avalon" (It will always be Limelght to me, but Avalon doesnt deserve the name) has been around a while too.
  6. PVD - Roxy - Friday November 14... Ill B There!!!
  7. I hope crobar works. Maybe ill wind up there. To all the Tunnel Club headz, may she rest in peace.
  8. I have gone to Webster in Sneakers...Never had a problem
  9. I use both. Get Sound Forge for mastering and editing
  10. You read it didnt u? It comming 10/15 to NYC.........
  11. Who did the lighting for Expo, Palladium, Tunnel, and Limelight??? Well its comming.... Be on the watch out for Tweety Glo..The Bird is comming back to NYC. Oct 15.......... New Mega Venue. Cutting Edge Music Be there......
  12. This is a DANCE club, not a longe! I think Adrenaline said it best... "All you people sitting around talking, Shut the Fuck up and Dance!!!" (tommy boy records) I think they need less seats, and more dance area. If you want to sit down then go to a lounge!
  13. this thread is not going at all the way I would like it too. So let me throw it around. There are 3 maybe 4, different types of DJs out there. 1. The Superstar big name DJs like Van Dyk, Tiesto, Okenfold, Sasha, Vicious, Etc. These names will always pack a venue regardless of what venue they are in. This is good and bad. The venue makes money that 1 night, but the crowd that goes is loyal to the DJ, not the venue. NYC was better in the days of Twilo, when that was the exclusive venue for these DJs. Now every venue is trying to be like Twilo. 2. There there are the promoter DJs and CD DJs. These arent DJs at all. They dont know how. 3. Are the talanted No Name DJs that are getting screwed right now. Again, it comes to the question "Can you bring people" again, that is not my job. You bring the people, Ill keep them for week 2. One of my best friends, how is one of the bigger promoters in the scene once said "Sorry Ian, It's not about talant anymore, its about bringing people" 4. the fourth kind is the resident in house DJs that DJ at 1 venue 1 night a week, and thats it. The crowd is loyal to them, and the venue. 3 and 4 need to merge more! Did you ever wonder how 12 promoters could pack a club, but 200 promoters could only bring 30 people other than themselves? Now you mentioned Avalon, did anyone see the backroom setup. Where the DJ had 2 cheesy Numark CD players and a cheesy Numark mixer? When I started DJing there were no such thing as CD players with pitch control. It was only vinyl. ALL HALE THE MIGHTY 1200!!!
  14. I'm 24. With the exception of the mega - clubs. I really dont go to 18+ clubs anymore. Im sorry but you guys did it to yourself. I mean lets face it. Girls always go for older guys. And when you go to a 18+ party you are always going to have some dumb 16 year old girl trying to mack it to you. I also think that all these parties that are 18 for girls and 21 for guys are stupid too for the same reason. There are more girls out there with fake IDs and getting away with it than guys. I think this whole concept is encouraging guys 21 or over to buy alcohol for girls that arent old enough to get it for themselves yet. Girls stay with guys your own age. Im sorry, but I have been in the scene too long, and this is how it is. Now me, well, I have been DJing at clubs that are 21+ since I was a teenager, but lets not go there.
  15. I agree 110% with the booking of local DJs.
  16. Congratulations to silverbull. The fact that you mentioned 89.9 I really do give you much love on that 1. I dont know if that is a college, non-commercail, or dare I even say pirate radio, but it is down below the commercial range. Having been in radio and dealing with the industry I feel like the commercial music industry in this country is a joke. It is all controlled by large corporations like Clear Channel. And what they dont see is the rest of the world. I've been around. DJing at venues ranging from the Tunnel in NYC to the Sound Factory in San Fran. The US has got to open its eyes to the rest of the world. The original intent of this whole post was the address DJs that shouldnt and DJs that dont stay current. I am tired of these promoters going to me and asking "can you bring people?". That is not my job, that is theirs. My job should be the music, and to bring the people back for the second week. And in terms of the whole music issue, there is more music out there. Check out the dance, club, and record charts from Germany, Holland, and the UK. There is plenty of new music in this world. I dont want to go to a main floor of a mega club in NYC, the best city, and hear music that I was spinning 3-5 years ago during prime time. Again, if anyone want to challeng me on this, I will be more than happy to throw them one of my demo CDs. And if there are any other talanted, no name DJs, like myslef, and they want to cut a demo, I will be more than happy to let them use my studio.
  17. Thats ur problem. You go to the same venue for over 4 years and you become loyal to that venue. Y dont you go out and experience the rest of the world. Or let me guess...You sit at home all say and listen to WKTU and you think that that is good music. HA HA HA The music industry in the US is pathetic. We gonna open our eyes and take off the blinders people. The rest of the world is out there.
  18. nyis4meatheads: You obviosly dont konw anything about dance music. Why dont you hit up the playlists for music in Germany, Holland, and the UK. Then you can talk to me about cutting edge music, OK?
  19. The bird is comming........and it gets better

Supper Computer with software for music and Sound 8. Ortofon Night Club Concordes *2 9. American DJ PRO300MKII (Doesnt have seemless looping, but like I said, I am mostly vinyl anyways.) 10.. 21. me and my boys, tweety glo, and paul got in for comp, at 2:00am. no line for us Music was better than Friday night, thats for damn sure! The place was too packed. Couldnt move until like 3:00 am. Then we started to enjoy the music. It brings back a lot of memories, but it wasn't the same as the old limelight. I think security trying to regulate the hip-pop room was whacked. I think the flow would have gone better without them trying to control the flow.
  22. I frequent Webster Hall. And I can name some songs that they Played. "Blackout" "Blow Up the Speakers" "Sandstorm" etc on the mail floor. Common, these are all songs that I was spinning at the tunnel 4 years ago. If you wanna hear new music I will be more than happy to give you one of my mixed CDs.
  23. Crowd good ....Music ehhhh...Main floor was a disapoitment. They were playing disco house on the main floor. In my opinion if Avalon wants to be the cutting edge club in NY they should be playing some underground progressive music on the main floor. The lighting was much better compared to Estate though. They need to bring back Tweety Glo for lighting and some real cutting edge music for the main floor. In the beggining of the night when I was drunk I was having a good time. But when the alcohol wore off the fun wore off too.
