  1. The Market (NY) Is saturated with DJs. I rather go back 3 years ago when it was all vinyl. Granted I am spending 50% less up front now, but I am getting 10% of the gigs I once got because now everyone is a DJ. And these kids dont know the first thing about beats or measures. I dont even go out anymore. Its not fun. The Music is whack, the DJs are whack, and the promoters are whack (well, most anyways, not all) All I have to say is NY Night Life RIP, Im outta here.
  2. Ladies and Gentlemen. Welcome to the Tunnel. Im Your DJ! And I'm gonna take you on a tour on a 12" Yes a 12" RIP TUNNEL!!! Tunnel was the best.
  3. This goes to real DJs. CDDJs, MP3DJs, and PCDJs and promoter DJs Stand the fak down!!! Now to all the real DJs next time a promoter says "Can you bring people?" Tell him to fak off!!! NY is dying. The promoters are killing it. Promoters: Hire DJs to DJ, and Promoters to promote. Let the person do 1 job and perfect that 1 job. I am a DJ, not a promoter. My job is to bring the music, and bring peple back for the second week. If you want a party to last more than 6 weeks, follow my advice. Promoter DJs arent really DJs at all, and there friends realize how much their friends suck as DJs. Thats y you have these fireball parties that blow up into a cloud of smoke within 6 weeks. You (The promoter), its your job to "BRING PEOPLE"
  4. Shit, I TOLD YOU SO!!! HA HA HA!!! I think Avalon proved to us in NYC that its not gonna be the same. I lived at Tunnel, Limelight, and Twilo. I went to Avalon grand opening weekend, and it fawking sucked. I have not been there since. I told you all Spirit, wouldnt live up to Twilo. Now Tunnel...? I DJed there for a year and a half. Out of all the venues that I have played at that was my favorite. But I hate to say it. If Tunnel reopened, I probolly wouldnt go. NYC Is Dead. Im Outta here. The Local DJs are getting faked in NY. The whole scene is whack. Fak this shit. DJs unite. Next time a promoter says "Can you bring people?" Tell him to fak off!!!
  5. I go on Fridays. Not Saturdays. Nights like Paul Van Dyk, and Johnny Vicious.
  6. how old are we??? leeme guess. You are 18? and you think KTU is good dance music...I laugh at you. I have nothing furthur to say to you. Dont even pretend you like underground music? ok? You can go back to listening to 103.5 now!
  7. You Go Girl!!! Give you much love. Speaking as a vinyl DJ. There are too many Whack ass DJs in NY. This market is whack And the local DJ with talent is getting fucked. I wish I was back in the day before Napster, .mp3, CDDJs and PCDJS and these faking promoter DJs. Im getting the hell outta here Long live the 12" Wanna chill in my studio, we'll hook up and jam!!
  8. WOW, where do you all end and Ricky starts. Yo! YOu got some SH*@ on ur nose. Wanna tissue! Im not denying I go to Webster Hall. but one thing is for sure. I dont go there to here good underground dance (house/ trance/ techno) music. I go there to mack it to all the hot girls from NYU. Second. WTF are you doing knocking Roxy??? Roxy is the only club worth going to now adays. Webster Hall is way more commercail and KTU then Roxy. Wake up and smell the coffee. Sorry, but since Tunnel, Twilo, and Limelight closed, NYC IS DEAD. RIP TUNNEL, TWILO AND LIMELIGHT. Roxy is up there, and I give it mad props. And to the wondrful girls from NYU!!! Whooo Whooo
  9. I might have to Fox up in this joint. Hard House in NY. Shit.... For Rizzo my nizzo!
  10. Not everybody understands house music. Its a spirtual thing. A Soul Thing. A body thing. In the begging there was Jack, and Jack had a groove, and from this groove came the groove of all groves, and while 1 day this was going down at his house, jack simply proclaimed, let there be house! and house music was born. I am you see, I am the creator, and this is my house, and in my house there is only house music. But I am not so selfish, because once you enter my house, it then becomes our house, and our house music! And you see, no one may impose out, because house music is a universal language spoken and understood by all. You see house is a feeling, and no one can understand the feeling unless you creep inside the barriers of house. House is an uncontrollable desire to jack your body, and as I told you before. This is our house, and our house music, and every househead can understand there is keeper, and in this house the keeper is Jack. Now some of you might wonder. Who is Jack? And what is it that Jack does? Jack is the one who gives you the power to jack your body. Jack is the one who gives you the power to do the snake. Jack is the one who gives you the key to the wiggly worm. Jack is the one who learnd ya how to rock your body. Jack is the one who can bring nations and nations of all Jacks together under one house. You may be black. You may be white, You may be Jew or Gentile, it dont make a difference in our house. And this is fresh!!! What is house music? Its a unique form of music that gives complete freedom of expression. It's not with a continual form of just something that you do continually. But its just something that it's real simple and it just feels with anybody can understand, but my definition of house music. Is what comes from the soul and they might call it house because its not a serious production or has to be planned its how you feel. When you wanna say something you just say it. Like if you wanna say. FREEDOM!!! I do believe in freedom. Freedom. Yea! Something like that. Music is the answear to your problems.
  11. Be a little bit more specific as to what you are looking for???
  12. Used to work @ Nervous. I DJed with him for a bit. Ill let him know.
  13. Check out Scott Project. I could hit you up with some mixed CDs too that I made. And if you like it, spread it around. I dont think Okenforld caters to Hard Tracne. I think he is more molodic. (I hope I spelled that right) "someome", "1998",& "Cafe Del Mar" Etc. Awesome tracks, but not hard. AIM The Nice Pilot
  14. 1. Hire Real DJs that can DJ. And DON'T Forget about the local talent. 2. Hire Promoters that promote. If you would like a demo, I would be more then happy to provide you with 1
  15. I DJed at Tunnel for a year and a half. for the most part it was for kurfew, but I also DJed a little with Tony Dee.

  18. >>> -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally posted by djqwest Promoters should never dj and djs should never be promoters. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i really wish more people in charge actually abided by this maxim <<< Finally people are seeing the light. The next promoter that asks me "How many people can you bring?" Better be prepared. And to the person that just had his first gig. Congratulations...Welcome to the club. I wish you the best of luck and lots of fun. Shit, sometimes I still get that adreneline rush and my hands shake. Not often, but sometimes. Above all...HAVE FUN!!! and stay true to your self.
  19. Sorry about the defective shit. I agree with Mike though. Do one thing and be the king of your castle. I am a DJ. I am NOT a promoter. Let that be known.
  20. Its sad to say, but true. In the past year I have been doing more parties out in the west coast then in NY, even though I live here. This goes back the the promoter mentality of "Can You bring people?" But that is a different debate. To get back on track. Most of the parties out there you get 2 turntable and a mixer. Thats it. Granted, the music out here is better, but I rather see some kid trying to develop his talent on turntables then these no - talant PCDJs at a club.
  21. the party was horrible. My friends and I wanted to get out of there ASAP. It was soo bad I almost wanted to cry I waited till 2am because Reina was supposed to perform. She never showed up. And just because you can produce a song that gets played on WKTU doesnt mean you can DJ at a club.
