  1. >>> What made clubs like paradise garage....the world.....tunnel......palladium.....and others so great was that you had a varied crowd ....all walks of life....all there for different reasons.... for me back then it was the music..... maybe you should get the fuck out...... <<< Shit, what music, I thought It was about bringing people??? (In case u didnt know I was being sarcastic. Couldnt agree with you more)
  2. Well, I posted this thread right before I went on vacation and now I am back and I would like to add my two cents. In my opinoion, the scene is much worse than it was 2+ years ago. First off, I have only had a problem getting into one club one time. It was the last time I ever went there, in fact, the last time I have been to a long island club. I go to DANCE clubs to DANCE. I dont want to wear something that I would wear to a job interview so it could get ruined in the few hours that I am at a club. Two, I like to dance in Sneakers, I dont think you can really dacne in shoes. Second. To all the door people that hold the line. You loose buisness because after a while people get impatient and leave without ever going into the club. Let the people in to have fun. That way they will come back next week. third, I agree, who buys the drinks??? I dunno, but most of the time the guys are buying the drinks. Which might bring me to another topic alltogether. I am 24. I'm not to crazy of 18+ clubs anymore becuse you are always going to run into some dumb 16 yr old girl that thinks shes hot shit. Whats even worse? How about 21 for guys and 18 for ladies? Are they trying to encourage guys of age to buy drinks for girls that arent? I have more to add, but its been a long day, just thought I would add some more fuel to the fire.
  3. I am not going to say I agree or disagree with disk-ofreak. But actions speak louder than words. Lets just say that I went there both the Friday and the Saturday of grand opening weekend, and I have not been there since.
  4. There has been a trend lately. If you are a guy, and you cant get a girl to go with you to a club, dont bother going that night. WTF is this shit. I thought the whole point of going out was to meet people. And dont most people normally go in a group of their own sex to meet people of the opposite sex? Who here has a "guys night out" or a "girls night out"? To all the people that are infavor of this policy where guys have to bring girls, do you also bring sand with you when you go to the beach?
  5. GO YOU!!! Finally score 1 for my team. Another thing, whats this I hear about clubs having a 4 girl cover, I mean...NOt letting you in unless you have girls with you. Im a single guy, and I have one philosophy, (no offense girls, and you should do the same) you dont bring sand to the beach!!!
  6. I dont know. In moy opinion NY is dead. Not only is the scene not what it used to be, it just isnt worth going to anymore. I remember like 2 - 5 years ago if you wanted a job DJing you had to give your demo to who ever booked DJs and if you played good music, could program the musicright, and matched the beats good you stood a good chance of getting a DJ job. It didnt matter if you brought 1 person, 10 people, or 100 people, and ALL of your friends got in free. Now: all you have to do to get a job DJing is bring pepople, but now your friends have to pay, and it is not about talent at all. Some promoters dont even ask for demos anymore. After all, "Sorry Ian, its not about tallent anymore, it's about bringing people."

TO give you an idea of where I have been: New York City: Tunnel, Roxy, Estate @ Limelight, Exit, Downtime, Flamingo, Speed, Rare, B52 Long Island, NY: Zacherys, Diesel, Twilo, Blue Tequila, Don Juans, Poco Locos, The World, City Lounge San Francisco, Ca: Sound Factory, Club X, City Nights, NV Oakland, Ca: Bench and Bar Sunnyvale, Ca: Forum Mountain View, Ca: Limelight, Encounters I, Encounters II San Jose, Ca: Cactus Club, Metropolis 2000 Pt. Richmond: Share The Love State College, Pa: Lions Den I have been DJing now for about 15 years. Back in the day, there was only the mighty 1200, there were no such thing as CD DJs...All Hale the mighty 1200
  10. Im old school. Im from back in the day when Tunnel, Limelight, and Twilo were King. The scene just inst the same anymore. I dont think I will be going back anytime soon.
  11. I go to SUNY Farmingdale... NOT a party school at all. And the radio station, or should I say, radio club. I pretty pathetic too.
  12. well, you can start by going to clubs that have more than 1 room, hence, y I dont go to LI clubs anymore.
  13. Im always down to throw down for a good party. wanna demo?
  14. I have no idea yet, Its 2 months away. And I have no idea about hamerstein.
  15. I hate to say it, she has a point. and the only clubs worth DJing for are the gay ones too. They acyually hire DJs. Not these "Promoter" DJs
  16. you go Erin!!! I Was dancing the whole time, I was soar after PVD in CP.
  17. hmmm...wow, you must be in HS Still...sorry, but please come back in a couple of years.
  18. So...DO you need another DJ?
  19. Well, I feel like I have gone as high as I can go as a DJ. Now I am producing. I made 2 tracks from scratch in the past 3 days. Its a shame, I mean, Its not about talant anymore, its about bringing people.
  20. Well now. I am Italian. And I was born in California. And I visit Sonoma, ca frequently. I hate to say it. my #1 and #2 choices are Italy, and California. long Island wines are too damn expensive, evern on Long Island. At least when I am in California, I can get what would cost $30 here in NY for $3 out there. Last time I brought back a dozen bottles with me.
  21. Well, Thats why I dont do long island clubs anymore. Let there be house...And house music was born. Not Everybody understands House music. Its a soul thing, a body thing...
  22. common Rach, NOTHING beats PVD. PVD...The only DJ I would pay to see spin, in my opinion # 1
  23. tunnelbandit: you are the MAN!!! Long live the Tunnel, the best club ever!!! I was a resident DJ there for a year and a half. entao25: if you wanna hang out hit me up. IM: The Nice Pilot
  24. Wow, this is kinda funny. I do admit, PVD is my #1 choice, but I am not going to knock Tiesto either. They are both very talaneted producers.
  25. Rach, I find out where ever PVD is months in advance. I would like to think Mute records for still having me on their promo list
