  1. what is the crowd like? mixed ?
  2. Def vibe. I don't want to generalize but much of what I see is stereotypical, there is no energy, it has all become trendy IMO. you're either a buzz or a masoud a person. a lot of us fit neither category as there is little in between and that is what is killing the vibe here IMO. When I visit the lounges / clubs / etc I see the same types of people with the same meatmarket / trendy hair, clothes, style or ravers and the dj's spin the same house / prog music and the people don't mind because they're friends with the dj's, drunk, or want connections. If that's what people like fine, but too many places have that same vibe..finicky. i'm not putting dc down in any way.. apparently there are great places in the city that are not well known..if there are places to suit all tastes, please elaborate. i'm glad someone brought up dragonfly, i need to check it out.
  3. so much trance??? surely you jest? the whole city is house raised to the power n. almost everywhere I go I usually hear the same house music and some dnb. my god... what happened to variety, not everyone likes house. house house house. even the places that claim to spin trance never do, I go and find out it's all house, which is ok but it's nice to have variety, the same applies to much trance, as if there is such a thing. currently there is no trance.. glow comes back in march hopefully. buzz doesn't spin that much trance anyway. If they did, I would go frequently. give us this one night. trance.............
  4. last night was insane! if you didn't go, you missed out, or maybe not depending on how you look at it..hehehe! It was crowded! overall decent looking, mixed older type. What is it with the stalkers? There were only a handful as any club has, but they kept grabbing us girls. Ick some weirdo kept asking me to dance with him and when I said no, he got on his knees begging me. it was embarrassing…there are other females out there you know…what a loser the decor was neat- chairs and trees on the dancefloor. They played a girl-girl animation. I think it was from the same company that did grandizer since the animation looked similar..good old days of dyski and vega.. the dj was spinning some beats similar to red not too shabby, later it was slamming. whoever he is, he deserves a BIG raise.... that was sick sick sick!. then portia ethereal came and did her thing. Was it amateur porn filming night? In short…an old milkmaid showed herself off and let the crowd touch her. Then 3 girls tried to strip and dance provocatively. My views are liberal with regards to sexuality, however even so I found the demonstration demeaning. I thought they could have danced with a little more dignity and class. It was funny and entertaining in a disturbing way..like watching jerry springer. My head was spinning again from hunger, so I left. apart from the stalkers, overall it was a good night due to the nice crowd and excellent music. i give it 2 thumbs up
  5. Somehow I knew that would be true. I wanted to go but was very tired. oh well.. there's always next time.
  6. oh ok zain i never went there on a sat, only for danny t on fri's i guess i'll find out what sat at arc is like. thanks
  7. hopefully it will not be the same week of pvd at roxy. he's spinning at arc? is that true?
  8. as you pointed out, her name was 'blueangel' mine is 'theblueangel' which I took from the name of my fav film. i don't know, I just tried the name and it worked because in technical terms, the names are different due to 'the'. if it's odd or disturbing i don't know what to say... i never knew a 'blueangel' existed when I chose my handle. anyway a ton of other people died 9/11, they should be remembered as well.
  9. Wow, today they were spinning a lot of trance on sirius!!! I guess our complaints made a difference! I was in shock driving to work today and coming home. And also some good house, some sick beats!!!! Deep Dish rmxs are regulars on sirius, especially 'stoned' by dido now. I almost lost control of my car today listening to some killer trance, like always almost did with the vortex. siiiiiiick! I hope sirius keeps it up. tight music!!!!! they even played 1999 by binary finary (ag??? mix)!!! and the rmx station had a ton of trance!!! I'm just tired of "you don't apreciaaaaaaate me." yes!!! yes!!! yes!!!!!!
  10. yeah, like pcr said, the dance channels we had were always commercial free. They also didn't have that annoying thing you stick in the cassette player. Their device is cheaper than xm too. the stations used to be siiiiiick, for all us tranceheads, the vortex was amazing... I left a club last week just to hear victor dinaire's set broadcasted live! that's how addictive the vortex / rave were.... I'm still in shock they ruined the one thing that made them competitive against xm. What a stupid business decision, especially considering how sirius is based in nyc which is a large center of dance music after ibiza. Now it's geared towards jazz / rap / hip-hop / gay culture / christian stuff. How is the trance at xm? I looked at their set lists, and their music was pretty bad, but I don't care as long as they have a daily healthy dose of trance. If so, I'm switching to xm. sirius sucks seriously. I give it 2 thumbs down.
  11. I listen faithfully to sirius channel 64 "the vortex" which is 24-7 commercial free trance...it's like you died and went to trance heaven. They are more expensive than xm but had better music. The removed it from their programming! WTF!! I bought sirius specifically for the vortex and always take the long way home just to listen to it. Today when I went to work, I turned on sirius only to discover they removed that as well as the rave (ch 62) (no more victor dinaire!! ) planet dance has been reprogrammed, it's awful, not the planet dance of before. they added some lame "chill" channel and a god awful "remix" channel full of terrible dj's who will never get anywhere with their pathetic remixes. now they're worse than xm (imo) and more expensive. Is anyone else angry at this? I'm so furius I complained, apparently the higher the demand the more liklihood of a channel will return. If so, complain to their customer feedback to get the vortex back!!! what a waste of money now.
  12. are you talking about black rose stuff? you're a few years too late. that scene is so over here. most of the people in that scene now are dirty old men and women after young flesh, ick. there used to be some underground fetish clubs where you had to give a secret password, torture chambers, discipline, scantily clad people etc, very clandestine. those days are over, after all...it IS DC seat of the federal government. try manhattan ask around at the batcave, venus- she should know or london--torture garden, i heard it's siiick! since it's dead here. maybe skin two magazine can help you.
  13. lilbayt...wallah shwaya dakh rasi. 3adatan abka muddah 6aweelah. anyway.. nice meeting you.
  14. 5 is nice, l like the place and vibe, the people are friendly and laid back. It depends on who is spinning I think. Last time I went the crowd was relatively decent, yesterday was the opposite.. sorry crowd. oh my god- the women... I felt bad for the concrete and structural beams at 5. It was probably on it's last leg. how unhealthy. At least they appeared to be having fun, which was good. I could go on with my scathing review of the people, but I won't. The dj was spinning nirvana, michael jackson, white stripes ....ick The crowd on the floor seemed to enjoy it. He improved as the night progressed. some kate bush and digweed were nice to hear. I couldn't take the crowd anymore, so I went home and watched an al pacino film to heal my eyes from the torture they experienced and listen to sirius. I remember DC having a better crowd, oh well.
  15. is there a guest list? reduced admission?
  16. ??works for me, I never had one. I think it depends on your skin type really. that lady was showing herself off like look at me, and her pictures were a la skin two which i love, but in one of them...wtf.. take it off!! nair...it does a body good. ok. end of tangent.
  17. nair works surprisingly well down there. body hair is how do they show that? that's cool to have a differently dressed dj. good old goth / fetish clothing never disappoints.
  18. i thought the subject was about mobiles and cars... what happened? It's about time DC had that law. short and squatty? he looked tall and slim to me. you're being sarcastic? 2 girls with him, and they never left him either. I think he must have game or bling bling, and now a bmw. i must have gone on a bad night, or as usual the fun started after I left. cute? hmmm, i'm alright looking i guess. you must have been drinking right? thank you for the compliment. doesn't addyk know both of you? now your problem is solved!
  19. why? what's it like?
  20. Has anyone been there? Someone mentioned it in passing to me, but I can't find any info about it when I search, other than some hip-hop night and that it's in georgetown and is posh. it seems like it's worth checking out What kind of music? crowd? best night to go?
  21. you're joking, right? ick...there of all places?
  22. what were the first 2? zei? the spot? can't be any worse than the infamous marvisi .... what did they do? this seems interesting
  23. i adore that city. fun is what you make of your environment. as they say people have different tastes i'm already looking forward to going again, oh wait theres pvd at roxy again. i hope all goes well this time. there's quite a bit of debauchery going on at arc... especially on the right side when you enter the main room and in the back near the poles. exit was worse but more discrete and the people weren't as slimy so i didn't mind. do they still make you leave your gum and mints at the door at arc? i haven't been there in a few months..... ...aaaahh memories "so intense".....
  24. omg, i found this old thread, seems like some people who have come and gone answered it so i might as well before my time comes too... then i can look back on it some day and see a snapshot of my life..hehe... here goes.. an beautiful yet ancient land formerly known as mesopotamia currently known as iraq. i develop software / create websites for my company ??what is that? trance, i LOVE it!! I don't like houses, I would much prefer a flat. One would be in my beautiful home town in iraq, the other in nyc preferrably brooklyn for a million reasons. 2 places that inspire me. that's a tough one: i love my buckles and heels. they're all i wear. and furry coats, and berets physical fitness and being well groomed that was many years ago, i think it was manic street preachers or some trance cd. i normally buy vinyl iraq at a megaclub in new york city listening to sick tracks the met looking at artifacts from my ancestors the mesopotamians buzz, dream, webster hall, roxy, the gym but i have to go it depends on who is asking both but mainly mind it depends on what i was doing the night before everything, i love to cook the blind eye at the injustice in the world particularly in the middle east. hypocrisy that is acceptable as long as it's anti-arab ignorant people who believe stereotypes and can't think for themselves people who believe the trash on fox news channel pro lifers, anyone who dislikes the clintons or womens rights conservatives and religious fanaticism terrorism against anyone liars i play the flute too many, white, black i don't like cars or driving for that matter. i prefer the subway it depends on what i will be doing or was doing that season everything to remove the things that make me angry in question 11 no, i dislike them my grandparents some guys i met at exit. it depends on what i was doing or what i will be doing that day necessary items lafat kabob
