  1. huh??? it depends on what you're into really. i liked it. sasha was spinning for like 5 hrs or something and was still spinning when i left. when did he get off anyway? i don't see what the big deal is regarding the drinking and people falling down. that happens at almost every club on regular nights, and would be expected even more new years. surprisingly no one spilled their drink on me so i was happy. even the guys there polite: when they wanted to buy me a drink and I told them I don't drink, they said "that's cool", that was a definite turn ON, another big reason why I like the crowd. unlike the losers I usually encounter around here "what's wrong with you? how do you expect to have fun?" what an utterly stupid reply. sorry...i don't need to fuck up my brain cells to have fun. the crowd was hot in my opinion. at least they looked like they worked out and took baths unlike what I see in dc usually. ok meatheads aplenty, but still. some were pretty respectful and no stalkers so 2 thumbs up to them! the club was really cool..first time i ever went. it looked gothic with the cool corridors. crowded it was, but it was new years, so that was expected. the decorations were all right. most of all, i was happy just to be in ny. if I was at sucky webster hall or listening to awful jp spin, i probably still would have had a good time just because I was in manhattan.
  2. avalon.......SICKEST beats i ever heard-- EVER. best night of my life. anyone who didn't go missed out. beautiful club, beautiful people in a beautiful city. nice end to a bad year. my head is still spinning..... omg.........what a magical night what did everyone else do?
  3. I'm ecstatic glow is moving out of insomnia and can't wait for the new club. I just hope the crowd improves. I don't know where they came from but they were sometimes gross. I used to go with some of my friends and we would make fun of people. it was so funny, like those overweight girls wearing ill-fitting clothing dancing in those cages. We used to make fun of the meatheads at webster hall and sound factory, but when we noticed the glow crowd was worse, we began to appreciate the meatheads if you can imagine. sad but true. glow was a lot of fun...looking forward to the new glow. I can't wait!!!!!!!! let the trance continue......
  4. I got out of jury duty last year. I told them I was a student and they said it was no big deal. They don't care if you're part or full time why would you volunteer that info anyway? students are exempt but you better call or write them in advance. if you just don't show up you will be breaking the law I believe.
  5. yes, that was me the tourist. pink shirt, short hair, white coat. who were you? i don't remember any guys there early except the staff and a guy with a suede coat, then again i didn't pay attention. i thought the music got better later. when i left it started kicking. like i said, i'm more of a deep house person, it really depends on what you're into. that insence was so fucking annoying, my clothes still smell like it. is red normally like that?
  6. that's strange i got there 11:20. did you go to the wrong door? they told me that it usually picks up at 2 and closes at 3. i left 1:45, so i don't know. some of us have jobs, i can't stay that late on a thursday night usually. i'm just glad i finally went to see what the hype was about. you can't please everybody, but it's all good. ah, who knows
  7. I went there last night, first time. it's a little too laid back for me but i might visit it again. the place is laid back, the atmosphere unpretentious, a place to chill and relax. people from all walks of life seem to congregate there. It reminded me of an old french wine cellar where they replaced the floor, added some stools and speakers. Everything is red there, hence the name. when I first walked in, there was a terrible insence smell, similar to that store right before you walk into yoshitoshi. it was overwhelming. most of the people were smokers and covered it up. most if not all wore jeans, t-shirts, and tennis shoes, 2 things i don't own (other than my gym shoes). Naturally i felt and looked out of place, and it was painfully obvious. I tried to look very casual at least my idea of it. The wonderul thing was there was none of that annoying "i am so trendy, i imitate everything i see on movie stars and vogue, to the point where i look like everyone else and can't think for myself". there were no drunk people like at 5 either, a definite plus. there was some deathly bored person sitting next to me. if felt so bad for him. i didn't like the music at first. it started out really progressive but improved later as the night drew on. i'm more of a deep house person. The people i spoke to were really cool there, very friendly and laid back. i'm very down to earth but not to that extent so i felt odd there. some people looked like they didn't take a bath in days. it's def not a see and be seen eye candy place, but that's probably what people like about it. some girls made a bet and thought i was japanese, at least it was a good ice breaker. people always think i'm from every country except my own. apparently: it gets crowded at 2 and closes at 3? wtf? red is cool after a stressful day at work, but i have clearly been spoiled by beautiful nyc. kiss kiss habibti nyc.
  8. i don't know, luckily i never tried it.
  9. it's a spongyform encephalopathy caused by prions. it turns your brain to a spongy mush like alzheimer's & parkinson's disease. it's caused when farmers feed cows bone meal and meat scraps. of course cows will get sick since their system is used to eating grass. that's foolish to feed meat to them what a dumb idea. there was a tribe that acquired kuru (like mad cow disease) and it turned out that they were cannibals. sometimes they spread fertilizer on plants and the fertilizer has prions too so people can get it that way. That meat is not kosher.
  10. i'm going. we don't celebrate christmas so i might as well do something. i never went to red before so i want to see what it's about. so it's at jefferson street? ... i thought j.st was a residential area around the corner from 5, there's the lebanese restaurant baccus there i think. is this correct?
  11. it roughly translates to this: so moto you are correct.
  12. shouldn't that be the other way around? you just answered your own question... seriously.. if you love fc that much, it is worth it if you don't like the other events occurring this weekend in nyc. i take it you read the reviews about glow so you know what to expect. i love ferry corsten as well but if nothing comes thru in ny glow it is. he's a resident here.
  13. not at all, i should have clarified. I meant "life saver" as in "oops that was close" emergency situations not as in save a life pump out more babies in this overcrowded world, pro life nonsense. generalizations abound..... there will be std's and unwanted pregnancies always unfortunately. pill or not that's like blaming milk for spilling, instead of blaming yourself for spilling it. i agree with you on that, but like i said, people have minds and can make decisions. why are you blaming the girls only? blame the fools that aren't wearing condoms too who may be passing std's to the girls, as well as the girls foolish enough to accept reject guys like that. if they fuck up their lives, that's their problem (yes i know tax dollars, etc). if they're stupid enough to not read the instructions or listen to a gynecologist, .... my point is that having the pill is better than not having it at least from my female point of view. there are too many unwanted pregnancies if this pill can potentially decrease it, it's worth a try. if studies show that people like you are right, well then you'll be right! how many women drink and use birth control pills thinking nothing will happen since they assume it will prevent unwanted pregnancy and lo and behold they're pregnant? as usual...many of the worlds problems are blamed on women...men can never take responsibility for their own actions. a girl has to mess up her reproductive tract just so a guy doesn't have to wear a condom but a guy won't get a vasectomy. makes me sick what weak girls will do to satisfy a man. i think i went on a tangent but you probably get the idea.
  14. I have yet to hear anything bad about that pill. so it has it's side effects, as every other pill / medicine, etc does. nothing but good things, that it's a life saver. clearly no pill suits everyone. you can't blame that pill for the rise in std's. people have minds and can make decisions.
  15. Yesterday was the first time I went there... So for any of you lurkers who have not been there here's my review: 5 is a very small and intimate place in an area where finding parking space is a blessing. I thought the decor was kind of nice. They changed it a lot from 5's previous incarnation. What can I say...the music was tight, they laid down some sick tracks. The floor was jumping. Wow. It started kicking around 12 and around 2 it was slamming. I like how the crowd was mixed from casual to suit & tie, mixed age group as well. The guys were all right easy on the eyes, the girls were trendy trendy trendy, one looked like the other. I don't know... that was weird. Normally I overdress but I thought I would go casual yesterday. Why guys wear sunglasses in a dark club / lounge the latest trend? My oi faj3a stalker was there, that kind of ruined it for me. I felt kind of odd there since I'm not used to that type of place. The people dance differently from what I'm used to. Overall, I'll def check it out again. slamming music, killer beats.
  16. Although I didn't like the space I'm sad to see it go. Too many memories.... The location was all right since there is a lot of light and pedestrians in that area. i hope the new space is nicer.
  17. you're joking right? if not, why? I would rather work anywhere than be homeless. At least you would still get a paycheck, if you're homeless, you get nothing. At least the gov't is in DC , not VA. I dislike VA, it's so republican. MD is alright since it's above the mason dixon line.
  18. oh good! Question 1 How long does it take for them to reply if you send in your application? I heard it can take as long as 6 months. When I apply for private sector jobs, I hear something within a day or 2. Question 2 What is the difference between secret and top secret clearance? I already have secret clearance and they had to dig through my closet. Luckily I don't have anything since I try to be a good citizen. What else would the possibly look for? Someone told me that for top secret they follow you around for a month. True or False? Which is better? Most everyone I ever asked seems to say fed gov't since it appears to be more secure. There are no massive layoff's which you see in huge companies like MCI, Motorola, etc.
  19. I never realized how gov't and public sector really differ.
  20. Oh ok. I thought it was according to some schedule. If what you say is true, I'll just go randomly. If he's there good, if he's not, there will always be someone else spinning. Thanks.
  21. Why does all the good stuff happen when I have exams? ...c'est la vie
  22. theblueangel

me too! wow! I would do that for free, let alone get paid for it. I'd want to work in manhattan though.
