  1. i remember randomly seeing him at avalon one time. he wasn't even scheduled to spin, it was supposed to be bad boy bill, that was the first night when he got snowed in or something and avalon was half empty. but this guy spun a sick sick set. i've heard his productions but have never seen him live before that night. i've got a set of him and sander spinning somewhere in moscow that had some really good stuff on there too. so does he spin anywhere, cause i def never heard of him spinning in the city since that.

  2. for every cheese trance track there's a bad house track out there. a genre does not make something cheesey/bad, the producer takes care of that.

and to whoever made the ball licking comment, maybe pvd's balls do get licked, but not as much as tenaglia's or howells' on this board.

  3. hmm, i thought his roxy performance was actually really good. at least to me, he def was better than pvd a month earlier or so. different strokes for different folks i guess. i listen to house mostly so i can't really comment on the age of the tracks that he played but his set had a ton of energy, he def kept it going all night.

  4. oh man, where to begin on this night. i had a good time but there were just some things wrong with this party.

first of all, was anyone else appalled by the total shityness of the sound system? i mean you're inviting two world class djs and you put them into a room that looks like a bad frat party. the sound was so washed out, had absolutely no highs, and wasn't loud enough. it felt like the whole party was taking place in someone's basement.

in general i think the space was wrong for these types of djs, the party was completely underpromoted cause im really surprised they couldn't even pack a room of that size, which is quite frankly, tiny. i wouldn't be surprised if these guys don't really feel like coming back to the states anytime soon. you bring them over for the first time in their careers and they end up playing for 200 kids in a dark basement, i mean cmon.

musically i thought dumonde was great. they played a sound that they are known for, dropped many of my fav tracks. i thought the mixing was good, didn't really have that much progression just cause they kept dropping hard track after hard track, but i didn't have a problem with it. wasn't impressed with lange at all, it's like the guy picked out every generic sounding trance record and just stringed them all together, bleh. i don't know who heard him play any house, i got there 130ish and all i heard was fluffy trance till dumonde went on.

anyway, good night musically, not such a good night venue wise and crowd wise. i think it's just that im gettin a little old (22) for hangin out with all these 18 year olds running around with their backpacks and ufos. i like a clean looking venue, nice lighting, a GOOD sound system, and these are just some of the things that just weren't there. i hope shelter has good luck throwing their raves but if any other big name djs come into town it's def not teh venue for them.

  5. what we need is a site that sells mp3 as well as vinyl, or sells all the stuff that i can get on vinyl as mp3s.

i get my stuff on vinyl cause i dj, and i already blow about a 100 bucks every two weeks or so, but that's just on stuff that would fit into my sets. if i spent 10 bucks a track on every track that i like, i would be broke. i shop at dancerecords.com and love it, they have a really good selection and a lot of the new tracks that i want quickly show up there.

i just wish there was a place where i could pay like a few bucks for a song on mp3 instead of getting everything on vinyl.
