  4. Finger Lickin’ Export 01 Featuring “Funk Pill†by Wavewhore Out Now! Announcing the first in a new series of cutting-edge compilations: Finger Lickin’ Export 01 comes courtesy of the Drumattic Twins, who expertly weave together a firin' mix of upfront exclusives and certified dancefloor smashes for your listening pleasure. Not officially released for another month, you’ll find it for a bargain price of £5.99 at www.fingerlickin.co.uk right now! FINGER LICKIN’ EXPORT is a new series showcasing the hand-picked and heavily road-tested tunes straight out of the record bags of our artists – that means the tracks they love and the ones that have been causing the greatest devastation for them on dancefloors the world over. First to take the helm will be the Drumattic Twins, fresh from returning from sell-out shows across Australia and a year rammed to the hilt with gigs from Fabric to St. Petersburg – these boys know a good tune when they hear one! Their consignment of heavyweight cargo contains massive tracks from the likes of Plump DJs, Slyde, Wavewhore, Rogue Element and Nitro plus unreleased gems from Soul of Man, Aquasky and the DTs themselves, to create a party soundtrack which perfectly represents the duo's infamous DJ sets that have been causing a sensation all around the world! But don’t take our word for it... iDJ says: The Drumattics don’t miss a beat and never lose the energy. Mindlessly rolling round in fat, filthy funk like a pilled-up muppet at Glastonbury, the Twins have proved once more that obesity can be fun.4/5 Says MOFO Magazine: The easiest way to sum up this album is to say it’s excellent! If you are like me and love the Finger Lickin’ sound then buy this album. I can’t wait for Export 2! http://www.fingerlickin.co.uk/news.php

  11. From my standpoint as a DJ & producer, I'm not sure that most of the general public was ever directly pursuing dancefloor tracks like a DJ would anyway. However, the digital revolution has impacted labels in a big way and most of the smaller independent labels are just barely covering their costs on vinyl releases primarily because it has become much easier for people to share music so less DJ's actually buy the record...

  13. BROKE RECORDINGS – BROKE 007 A. THE AUTOBOTS vs. SCREWFACE - “Apocalypse†AA. WAVEWHORE featuring Bex Riley – “Funk Pill†Distribution: Z-Audio Release Date: December 5, 2005 The new Broke Recordings release is just hitting stores this week and features the talents of breakbeat heavyweights The Autobots in combination with Screwface. “Apocalypse†has been getting x-amount of plays from the likes of the Freestylers, Tayo and The Breakfastaz. For more info on The Autobots, as well as Broke Recordings visit www.brokebreaks.com. On the flip, New York City based Wavewhore's tech funk outing titled “Funk Pill†features vocals from Bex Riley (of “What’s Down Low†fame) and is a favourite of the Drummatic Twins (who have licensed it for their upcoming mix CD on Fingerlickin’ Records). Heavy support also seen from Chris Carter, DJ Icey, Ali B, Soul of Man, Transformer Man and Myagi. For more info on Wavewhore visit www.wavewhore.com. Select the track names for mp3 clips... The Autobots Vs Screwface - Apocalypse / Wavewhore – Funk Pill (Broke) Review by Jimmy Brayks (NuSkoolBreaks.co.uk) I can tell Tom & Jez Autobot have an absolute catalogue full of tunes ready to be released on Broke – there has been 7 releases in as many months - and lots more to come! This release sees the boys take it back to what we all expect the 'Bots to sound like (and you thought they'd gone all funk on yo' ass after Ultrafukula!), teaming up with sub-bass-tearout producing-dons Screwface. Massive orchestra hits and sweeps, mixed up with an old skool beat and you knows it, some stomach gurning sub-bass, makes this a track firmly for the rinse-out dancefloor. American NYC artist Wavewhore steps up for his debut release on Broke, and he doesn’t disappoint, with a vocal led acid-electro-funk rump shaker. A girl called Bex is on the vocals and a top job she does at that, sounding very fresh and crisp, and quite reminiscent of some of the vocalists on Roni Sizes New Forms. Another firm release from Broke, showing that rinse and mince can share the same vinyl, and setting them firmly on their way to Best New label at Breakspoll... The Autobots & Deep Impact “Apocalypse†Broke Wavewhore Bio With his recent releases on Broke Recordings and Electrofly Records, Wavewhore is pushing new boundaries in electronic dance music with his hi-energy breakbeat. His music is aimed directly at the dancefloor and his beats are making waves across the globe. Wavewhore began his musical career playing heavy metal guitar in a host of bar bands which toured the New York City area. During that time, Wavewhore also began experimenting with electronic music. In 1992, Well Primed records released 'The Thorazine Stretch Factor', a compilation featuring his first dive into the realm of electronic dance music titled "Voodoo". This track illustrated his ability to develop innovative compositions by fusing musical styles and applying his experience as a guitarist. In 2001, Wavewhore founded Audio Tactics, an audio production house and event promotions company. One year later, Wavewhore's "Bulletproof" was featured in a film documenting the New York drum and bass scene titled 'Prohibited Beatz' by Julie Covello. In 2004, Wavewhore signed with Electrofly Records and "Breakin' The Law" was released on vinyl in May 2005. The record featured his original mix along with his 40,000 Watts remix and received solid support from Elite Force, The Autobots, Jay Cunning, Jonathan Lisle, Bill Vega and many others. His new single, "Funk Pill" featuring vocals from Bex will be released on vinyl in November 2005 on the high profile UK imprint Broke Recordings. "Funk Pill" is also being licensed for the upcoming Drumattic Twins compilation on Finger Lickin' Records. In 2006, watch out for more of Wavewhore's original material to be featured on DJ Shugga's upcoming compilation on the Bitchin' Breakz label. As a DJ, Wavewhore can be found delivering high energy breakbeat at various venues in his home base of New York City. He has held several residencies including Unbreakable at the award winning Sullivan Room and Redline at Scenic and has performed along side domestic and international breaks talents such as The Crystal Method, Evil 9, Tipper, Quest, Liquid Todd, Baobinga, 30Hz, Kid Kenobi, Jay Cunning, Influenza, High Eight, Fine Cut Bodies, DJ Wool, Son of the Electric Ghost and many more. He has made numerous appearances on Breaks FM and Proton Radio and has also expressed his creative energy as a visual artist by showcasing his work in numerous New York City galleries and museums such as Exit Art, Priska Juschka Fine Art, and The New York Historical Society. Recently, he has focused on producing bass heavy breakbeats which pull from his widespread musical interests. His name is derived from his addiction to manipulating audio waveforms and from all appearances he promises to be an inspiring force in electronic music.
