  1. get better weed lol.. I usually get northern lights, after about half a joint i'm knocked out no matter how anxious or hyper I was at the time. Nyquil also works for me, but I prefer not to take meds that slow down your heart rate, especially when i'm still going strong on the blow and weed. If it happens again just sit in front of the tv till you pass out, you need to keep your mind distracted.

  2. Today at work i was running a title chain and i ran across a pretty interesting name of an owner on a property we are closing on.....

    Ufuk Alpay.

Say it out loud....and yes, its real. I had to share that with you all.

    :D

its a turkish name.. pronounced "oof-ook"

  3. I have read a lot of why Turkey refused, and it it extremely complex. But I believe history will show that this event, or element, would have made things completely different today. Completely different. Instead, because of this, the mistakes that have been made (i.e. disbanding the Iraqi army) were magnified, and the American troop level became a bigger factor.

I'm half Turkish so I can sort of answer this, and like you said it's complex, but here's one of the main reasons. The first gulf war crashed Turkey's economy, it never fully recovered due to a string of bad politicians, debt, and corruption, even today it's still struggling. It started to finally recover after 12 years, until Bush announced he was going to war. No one wants to go through another 12 years of economic hardship... the people finally got hope to live better lives but it was all shattered. Also, during the 1st gulf war Turkey made a lot of economic decisions based on a promise that the US would pay them a certain amount of money (billions) because the economy took a huge hit from trade loss with Iraq and stuff. They never got the money, so it was only natural they wouldn't accept the $35billion this time around.

  4. Well said but the more you give it out...NOT THE BETTER. If its good and you provide the lable with a 4 min version with the hook coming in during the first 30 seconds. your chance is much better. I said it once and I'll say it again. ONCE IT HITS THE INTERNET ITS DONE.

well i'm not really involved in the electronic music biz.. more so in the rock/pop. But through interviews and articles some DJ's really recommend getting your songs out to as many people as possible.. Sasha was one of them, and he owns a solid label so I figured he probably knows a thing or two.

  5. i see....this is true...perhaps its just luck of getting some label exec to hear your track....

write good music, it'll sell itself :)

Whether its A&R's, self distribution/promotion, etc., its always very hard to get signed..

The problem with A&R's is, they have a lot of pressure on them.. they can't waste the execs time, so unless they think a song will definitely be a hit, they won't bother pushing it onto the record company. On the other hand, they're really your only way of getting through to the execs...

  6. so mailing out to a&r's is a bad idea? what other methods would there be to get it to labels?

its not a bad idea.. its just that they can get 1000's of songs a day, and usually only have time to listen to the 'hook' of the song or just a few seconds of it. So your chances of getting signed through them are very slim..

  7. You're both right.. even though Indy hasn't really provided any useful information besides stating the obvious; of course labels want shit that will sell, duh. A lot of established DJ's have their own labels and/or know insiders in the business, giving them a copy of your track(s) won't hurt you any. The music business is one of the hardest and most inconsistent business in the world, sometimes to 'make it' all it takes is being in the right place at the right time... the more you distribute your songs to DJ's, venues, A&R's, etc., the more your chances will go up obviously. By handing your stuff out to DJ's doesn't mean you just gave away rights to your song... all it does is increase your chances of someone at a label hearing it, then signing you.

  8. hopefully they'll all shoot the fuck out of each other and make way for some new talent... I'm sick of the trash thats been put out for the past few years. Why is it Biggie and Pac died how they did but morons like Ja Rule and 50 cent can't wipe each other out? its a damn shame.

  9. aren't u afraid u all get addicted to that stuff?

its the typical "it'll never happen to me" mentality that gets people started.. it is a mentally addictive drug, but fortunately it's not physically addictive, making it one of the easier drugs to just stop doing imo. It's all about being responsible with it and using it in moderation... people new to it usually get carried away at first but start to get it together and slow down. As long as you're not doing it alone and on a daily basis, it shouldn't affect you much, but as with all drugs long term use will eventually fuck you up one way or another.
