  1. Thanks - We'll see what happens. I'm not particular to just "big rooms" - anything with some good house music is good regardless of size. Thanks for the help though! I'll most likely check out Blue as well as the places you mentioned. Keeping fingers crossed that I'll have fun!
  2. awwwww... i'll be there 04/14 - 04/18 - let me know how it went when you get back and what places were any good.
  3. Thanks! Finally a friendly person on this board!!! I'm from NYC- DJ I like ...um.... Roger Sanchez, Erick Morillo, Peter Rauhofer, Jonathan Peters, Armand Van Helden, David Morales etc... hope that helps?
  4. what type of music? from new york but will be in miami
  5. umm....yes...house music... i suppose you've never heard of it? <sarcasm> i also suppose that you're laughing cause almost everything in SoBe is "bottles and models and hip-hop"
  6. ok...can anyone help me out here? other than crobar...which are the cool SoBe or Miami clubs that don't play nonstop hip-hop, or that play mainly house music?
  7. What's the dress code like a Cellar Bar? Is casual but nice and chill or is it the type of place where people get all decked out just to stand around holding their martini glasses with their noses in the air trying to look pretty?
  8. HMM.... thought victor had a residency in miami.... would loveeeeeeeeee to see that happen though!
  9. Dragon: Consider where you posted for advice ???? Helllllloooo? Prob. not the best choice considering most of the people on this board have experimented or currently experiment with E. I used to be very anti-drugs and anti-E.... until I actually experimented...then it opens up your mind and you see things from a more open minded point of view. Drugs are dangerous - but there is no scientific proof that E has any short term or long term side effect. THAT IS THE TRUTH... i researched it and researched it before i even tried it. Dont get me wrong.. I dont do it on a regular basis, maybe a few times here and there and it is a great experience. What you need to ask yourself is "is your friend the type to get carried away"... the danger is not E its what comes after that.... the tina, the coke, the k etc etc.... many people are tempted to try soemthing else once they've tried E and hey...to each their own... I dont judge whatsoever... so you're real concern is... is your friend the type to get carried away. E simply releases seratonin into the brain and makes you feel happy and giddy and loving... some do make you racy and speedy depending on whether they are made from MDNA (dopey pills relatively safe) of MDA (usually a combination of many drugs plus MDA which has teh same effect of MDNA but can be harmful). There have been cases of people getting dehydrated and to compensate drinking exessive amounts of water and then their kidneys shutting down and them going into a state of shock or coma, but the odds of that happening are fewer than you being on an airplane that crashes literally. Do some research and understand the drug before you stereotype it to be like every other harmful drug out there. You'll find that most researches show that it is relatively safe as long as its real E. The main dangers are: 1. just getting a bad pill and having a bad high because of it...usually people feel nauseous do to the cocktail of drugs in the pill and will throw up anyway. 2. dont' drink alcohol and do pills ... this will make you realllyyyyyyyy sick and not very functional 3. not keeping yourself hydrated or OVER hydrating yourself. 1/2 bottle of water for every hour is a good amount if you are the dancing type. Other than that... let her play and experience it... once you do the research you will see that its not the end of the world and that its relatively safe. Now my question for you is... do you not want her to try it out of concern for her life or out of your own preconceived notions that drugs are bad and people just shouldn't do them because they'll end up crackheads losers with an addiction? btw- its not addictive though people may start to depend on it to have a good time each time their out. My last comment would just be that: I've been there, I was anti E, I did the research I tried it and I liked it and I dont do it very often, 9 times out of 20 I party completely SOBER - NO ALCOHOL AND NO DRUGS and yes i have my own natural high off the music and fun.... but its still fun to do every once in a while...... my advice is that u try it together at home in a safe location with some good music in the background (with someone aroudn that isn't high that calm you guys down if you start freakin' out wondering why you suddenly feel tingles all over the place and think the world is beautiful and lovely and you are suddenly a philosopher ) see where that takes you . I guarantee that your opinion on the matter will be less narrow and much more open... but dont forget...google it and do the research first.

  11. OK... I REALLY NEED TO GET THIS OFF MY CHEST: OK, I hate hating on Jersey, especially since I have a few good friends from there but sometimes (deep sigh), they just leave me now choice. So I'm at work and bored and I decided to check out the Jersey Message Board, after having read through NY's of course, and its suddenly clear why the jersey party scene is, well, NOT RESPECTED~!!!!! You read through the NY message board and everyone is discussing their fave DJ's or genre of music, what the best parties are and actually having somewhat interesting conversations regarding our favorite little hobbie DANCING AND MUSIC BABY! (yes, i realize that we have our fare share of morons too but not nearly as many) So what do I find on the Jersey board U ask? Girls gone wild promotion cause let's face its the sluts the lure guys to the clubs there NOT the music, guido attire for the night and what gel works best to keep you hairs sticking straight up the whole night, where was the best drunken fight Studio 9 or Deko and lets not forget my favorite the best song on KTU that EVERYONE has to blast in the pimped out rimmed car while driving up and down the main avenue of whatever town you live in! Don't get me wrong, I dont party in Jersey nearly enough to make and educated analysis here but from what I've experienced in teh past and the crap I hear on that board, really, why would I want to? Anyone who really understands what its all about and is looking for a good time is forced to cross the bridge/tunnel and come into NYC. So my sympathy to all of the Jerseyians out there who understand and make the extra effort to come and support the music and venues NYC has to offer and to all of you Jersey kids who are offended by this (if you're defensive you must be guilty) STAY THE F* away before you ruin our city too!!!!
  12. Definitely Platinum! Do you really want to spend $75 dollars to see 1000 Asians running around Ikon with glowsticks to PVD's music???? Platinum is the way to go Mark Amatucci and Tony Tee are awesome house dj and I'm sure they'll offer a good time. You can tune in to metromixradio.com to hear their shows live or prerecorded sets to see what i'm talking about. I'll definitely be there!
  13. Thanks Silverbull! Not a bad idea.... I recommend u get to it. I'll be checking out some of the places you mentioned....hopefully I wont be disappointed~!
  14. O.k...im someone who hates the "trendy bottles and models" scene...(very well put btw silverbull) and you've mentioned a couple of places.... so a little help here plz. I am so sick of the stand around with a drink in one hand and throwing your hand in the air to go w/ the hip hop beat w/ the other hand and trying to look pretty scene but I've had trouble finding cool places that AREN'T like that. Avalon is o.k...if you're lucky and find a good DJ is spinning, Spirit is a decent place....too bad I'm not a JP obsessed fan. Where does one go to dance their asses off to good house music and chill out w/ a cool down to earth crowd??? You mentioned Shelter....I"ve heard of it....where is it? Cielo is open on Wednesdays and its cool? God...where have I been...hiding under a rock? Nah....probably just hiding under the table from the glitter crowd in an upscale NYC lounge somewhere! a little help here plz. If I were to go out to one place each day of the week for an entire week....for those of you that know....what are the best places?
  15. how do I get advanced tickets for tiesto this saturday?????? anyone know?
  16. absolutely twilo and limelight!!!!! spirit and avalon are mere shadows of what once was great.... good clubs....but not comparison to the legend of the old limelight and twilo!
  17. LMAO!!!!! YOU GUYS ARE ABSOLUFUCKINGLUTELYLARIOUS!  Usually, people on this board just get on my nerves...complain complain complain...whine whine whine....new york sucks...JP sucks... black is wack.... no good places to party.... blah blah blah blah blah..... ewwww:blown: shoot me... Thanks for making me realize that there are still some funny cool people on here! and yes.... BADASSMUFAKA.... SF is closed....and yes...we've all moved on.... u should too.... PS- just came back from L.A- party scene sucks out there.... KTU plays better shit than some of the DJ's out there.... AMBER AND DEBORAH COX...r not cool and do not define the house music industry! Please inform your "people" or call "someone's agent" and let them know...and if you like L.A so much.... do us all a favor...stay there.... we have enough wannabe's here as it is.
  18. "Thank God there really IS someone else here with half a brain." LOL djstevemelnick....well I hate to be overly pompous...but I like to think I have a least 2/3's functioning!
  19. I completely agree.... NYC has a complete different vibe than Europe. There are things I love about the NYC club life that I know I'll never find in Europe....there is just more of an underground vibe here...however, I wont' say that clubs in Europe are not amazing....you can't compare an SF to Cream in Liverpool, clubs in Amsterdam and Berlin. That is just ridiculous. The vibe is different yes....but if we keep ourselves open minded...you learn to love both... (OH AND BTW...IF YOU THINK NYC IS THE CLUB CAPITAL OF THE WORLD.... please....travel a bit more.... it most definitely is NOT) I"m not a big JP or JV fan....they've both got their good days and their bad days in my opinion....nothing to really impress me much...but I can appreciate that JP for instance has a set sound that has become a more "nyc club" sound...and I can accept that Oakie, Tiesto, PVD etc....have a much more "european sound". New York clubbers are more receptive to chunkier beats, deeper bass etc...EuropeanS...love a little bit of trance thrown into their music.... The main thing to keep in mind here is that music is very broad, especially on these terms...yes...we may each have our preferences....but in the end.... its still ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC.
  20. Seems to me like there are a lot of people on here that are so concerned about the image of a place or its rep and your rep for going to a certain place that you forgot what's its really about..."the music" as if you ever really knew.... (no offense to those of you that actually know what I'm talking about) Who really cares about where a place is, what the place is, the crowd it is, if you leave it up to the music its black and white... u either luv it or you hate it....if you hate it...stay away...find another place....if you luv it go back for more.... not exactly rocket science ya know~!???
  21. Hi! Does anyone know how to get advance tickets to Armin Van Buuren at Roxy for Fri. night?
  22. Hi! Does anyone know how to get advance tickets to Armin Van Buuren for Fri. night at Roxy?
  23. OMG....pleaaaseee..... This is directed at noone's reply in particular...but get the FUCK over it. Times change....music changes...clubs change. I used to club back in the day...where yes...people got dressed up and K,G and E weren't served around on silver platters to everyone...(o.k...slight exaggeration) but you guys get the hint. I totally get what you are saying...and believe me...I've had many of those talks with my friends....where we all kind of just sit around and shake our heads and say "its just not what it used to be"....but we also accept that times change and the nightlife industry goes through phases. Really...think back to the days of Studio 54 ----- drugs drugs drugs....afterwards...things calmed down a bit for a little while....then the old Limelight (some of you would know now as AVALON) drugs drugs drugs....they closed it down.... it was quite for a bit.... then Sound Factory.....oh yes...and forgot to mention Exit in there before...but I still can't figure out if it was drugs that ruined that place or Vasquez. (sorry to any Vasquez fans out there) Really though, I think you made some valid points however, it needs to be understood that that is part of the NYC scene....so the truth about THE STATE OF NYC NIGHTLIFE...is that its a rollercoaster. I personally dont do drugs...anymore.... because it was a choice I made for myself...I still go out...do the afterhours scene and party for 12 hours straight....believe it or not...no drugs, but I dont sit there and judge others that need it. Yes its annoying when a club gets shutdown because of the excess drug abuse, or people die like at opening night at Black...etc etc...but been there seen it before. Its not new....its just a cycle. And yes, I agree that JP has a "certain" following....an almost cult like following if you ask me...and I'm not his biggest fan - I've had some great nights with him and some horrible nights....you can't place the blame of what someone chooses to do on the DJ- he is not shoving the bumps of TINA up people's noses...he's to busy doing that to himself. And placing the blame on "his type" of music....is just ridiculous. That is what the AMERICAN GOVERNMENT'S ANTI-DRUG CAMPAIGN does....blames it on house music. In the past...I've clubbed....done my shit responsibly and had a great time. Now I go....don't do drugs and still have a great time. I dont care what people are doing, as long as everyone has a great time. Ultimately...if it bothers people so much...and you think NYC is becoming such a bad place to party and boo-hoo its so sad.... blah blah blah.... you shouldn't go major house mega clubs. Stay home....go to a lounge...i dunno. But accept the fact...that shit goes down...and that things change....and then go back again.... its part of the scene. Live with it.
