  1. Ohh Avalon. It's like that movie the Money Trap. Except it's not really funny at all. Let me know when they finally turn that place into condos!
  2. this article should have said: Seven "ALMOST ENTIRELY GAY" nightclubs were raided by the homophobic police to make sure those filthy gays remember they are second class citizens. This is really sad and messed up! Ironic that most of these clubs cater to a gay clientele 1) club speed - "Area 10018" fridays happens to be the gay night 2) splash - popular gay bar & dance club 3) view bar - tiny little gay bar on 8th ave, you can see right into the whole bar from the street... 4) club deep - "Krash" fridays are gay night 5) steel gym - very gay gym in chelsea, has popular gay house dj's spinning 6 & 7) Avalon, Spirit these two clubs are not particularly gay except they both share gay powerhouse promoter John Blair as a managing partner... Avalon - has no current gay night. Only connection is that John Blair used to be the managing partner before leaving for Spirit. Supposed drug sales in the building. Ha. There would have to be some one in the building in order for anyone to sell anything. Spirit: Not gay on fridays, but John Blair is one of the managing partners, who also does a gay sunday night party there. Spirit is the only club I am not surprised to hear it was shut down, as it's run pretty sloppy and they seem to always have problems with underage drinking, fights, etc. Nice work pigs!
  3. JE is such a gross looking cokehead. his eyes are always f'd up in every single picture. what a mess
  4. 2 many DJs has my vote. They go way beyond basic 4/4 beat matching and are extremely creative both live and on CD. Plus that "E-Talking" video kicks ass.
  5. To ad insult to injury that flyer is freaking horrible! Why is the avalon logo and name of the party repeated two times... WITH THE WRONG ADDRESS? Hmm party is called Nightmare on W. 20th Street... But then the address is listed as 662 6th Ave?!?! Avalon's Address is 47 W. 20th street. You know a club is lame when they can't even get the address right! JP really knows how to pick 'em.
  6. Whatever it is, I hope diddy pretends to conduct a full orchestra as he did on the VMAs which was like so totally cool!
  7. Yes of course Junior Adding '2005' to the end of every cheesy gay house anthem and madonna song released before 1999 makes it new again! Without Junior's cutting edge tribal sound gay house music would still be stuck in the 90s!
  8. pacha in NYC looks very cool... Big competition for Crobar
  9. Yes it's official. Avalon is closing the famous "Limelight" 6th ave location on July 24th. They will be opening again at Spirit july 28th under the name "Avalon at Spirit". Spirit's space, but all avalon's DJs and people running the show. what's kind of funny is how the new "avaland" saturdays at spirit will replace peter rauhoffers gay night "work". Peter left roxy for spirit and screwed John Blair... But looks like JB got the upper hand in this one. I wonder if they will go back to roxy? Also there has been nothing about what the former Avalon space will be.. for all we know it could be turning back into a church! Interesting stuff going on in clubland...
  10. I'll be going to see Ken Ishii @ Ikon for sure, his appearances are rare and he recently won "best techno DJ" for 2004.. plus the motion drive tokyo VJs kick ass. They will be doing live video mixing all night on 2 huge video screens... Avalon will have the same crap as usual, tourists, kids, and a mediocre DJ. blah.
  11. It's amazing... Disc 1 knocked me on my ass. I've been listening to it non stop since I got it Instant Classic! I can't wait till sander is in NYC again....
  12. I would not spent 30cents let alone 30$ to go to that.
  13. I have to say I agree, that the club has a lot of potential. I was definatly NOT a fan of Exit or Black. I like the new rennovations because it's not OVERDONE like a lot of clubs in west chelsea... It's not all about the paris hilton wanna bes & bottle service. More like a real NYC club focused on the music, giving you lots of space to dance and to chill/relax. I had a great time finding a comfy place to relax with my friends after dancing. It does have a little "ghetto" element to it which I like - this is NYC NOT MIAMI BEACH. If eric morillo were to become a resident there that would really kick ass. I have not heard any rumors about that though...
  14. Seriously, What is up with that flyer? It's so cheesy! I saw them all over 6th ave. They are offensive, and a cheap knock off of the old limelight flyers... I thought Avalon was trying to stay away from that limelight image, guess not. With that sad DJ lineup they should be having the party at Mirage on long island hahaha
