  1. JUST ANNOUNCED, SPECIAL SURPRISE GUEST DJ: BLAQSTARR [ Interscope | Mad Decent ] http://www.myspace.com/blaqstarrmusic
  2. More from WashingtonPost.com Friday, Dec. 19 In a time of recession, some of you may be looking to get into some holiday excess. That jibes well with the fact that Will Eastman is all about doing things increasingly bigger. He's teaming his Blisspop brand with Brightest Young Things to take over the 9:30 club tonight for a holiday party helmed by Nadastrom and Tittsworth, two of the hottest purveyors of dance-floor filth on the circuit today. The title of Nadastrom's newest record can't even be printed here, but the formula is remix concepts that build into frenzied party workouts. The DJ/producer team of Dave Nada and Matt Nordstrom shares a strain of Baltimore club DNA with international party titan Tittsworth, who got his start on the drum 'n' bass scene that Bob Jong Ill and Ken Lazee will be repping hard for at tonight's bashment. http://voices.washingtonpost.com/goingoutgurus/2008/12/nightlife_agenda_39.html?hpid=gog
  3. WashingtonPost.com Editor's Pick!! One of the area's hottest DJs/producers celebrates the holidays by sharing a bill with many of the city's other top DJs. With Nadastrom, Will Eastman and Bob Jong Ill & Ken Lazee. http://www.washingtonpost.com/gog/music-events/tittsworth-and-nadastrom,1145757.html
  4. NADASTROM!! Washington, DC figureheads Dave Nada and Matt Nordstrom first joined forces in the fall of 2007 for their weekly party “trap”. Every week after some heavy drinking, the two discussed the meaning of life and a few song ideas they had. Their initial tracks caught the attention of Dave “Switch” Taylor who immediately wanted them for his legendary Dubsided imprint. With tunes getting support from the likes of Diplo, A-trak, Tittsworth, The Rub, Craze, Klever, Drop the Lime, and Jokers of the Scene, these dudes look to set the game on fire.

  7. Friday, July.18.2008 Steez Promo & Upfront present: ANDY C & MC GQ [ Ram Records ] - UK **WORLD'S #1 DNB DJ** The man mysteriously known to most as Andy C. undoubtedly is one of the most important figures in drum'n'bass' evolution. He was there at the dawn of the '90s when drum'n'bass was still hardcore techno, honing his talents as a DJ. Then, in 1992, just as drum'n'bass was beginning to blossom, he formed Ram Records with Ant Miles. The label quickly became one of drum'n'bass' driving forces, releasing a plethora of 12" EPs featuring many of the genre's leading producers. As part of the duo Origin Unknown with Miles, Andy C. produced one of Ram's many landmark tracks, "Valley of the Shadows." Released in 1993, the track quickly became not only an anthem but also a classic, being remixed and re-released repeatedly. Later in the '90s came more Origin Unknown tracks; in addition, Andy C. joined forces with Shimon and Miles to form the much-celebrated supergroup Ram Trilogy. Throughout all his success, the man known to only a select few as Andy Clarke managed to remain for the most part anonymous and, as a result, considerably mythical -- an iconic figure within the insular and manic U.K. drum'n'bass scene -- known to even his fans as only Andy C. DJ DARA [ Planet of the Drums | BBS ] - PHI A member of the infamous Planet of the Drums crew alongside fellow drum ‘n bass pioneers AK1200, Dieselboy, & J Messinian , this Irish transplant has been a dominant figure in the U.S. drum ‘n bass scene since his arrival here in 1994. His discography includes 2 critically acclaimed full length artist albums, 8 DJ mix CDs, as well as numerous singles and remixes for artists such as Freq Nasty, Afrika Bambaata and Keoki. Dara co-founded the nation's first & largest drum ‘n bass record store, Breakbeat Science , in NYC which doubles as his own imprint, Breakbeat Science Recordings. He has been featured in countless magazine articles and interviews both in the US and worldwide. He previously hosted one of the internet's most popular drum ‘n bass broadcasts, Velocity, where he regularly interviewed leading drum ‘n bass artists such as Jonny L, Kemistry & Storm, Trace, Ed Rush, Optical, Hype, Andy C, Zinc, and many others. Dara's long standing relationships with the world's drum ‘n bass elite gives him access to an astounding amount of new and unreleased material. His brilliant recording endeavors along with his incessant touring markey by consistently awe-inspiring DJ sets have made him one of the most recognized and well respected DJs in the country. LYNX [ Soul:R | Creative Source ] - UK **DEBUT USA TOUR** Soul:R, Creative Source, Bingo Beats, Digital Soundboy…just some of the labels which will be releasing a Steve Nobes (aka Lynx) track this summer. When you add this to increasingly frequent airplay and an impressive set of DJ bookings starting in spring, 2007 seems set to be the start of an exciting career for Lynx. An exciting career but an electrifying new trend in drum and bass sound. D&B has been waiting a long time for a producer who could combine musical diversity with crowd pleasing success, and Lynx has been worth the wait! You will see no better proof than the super clubs of London, where dance floors are ripped up on a weekly basis by Mariachi, Uno, Shaku, B Box Roller, Global Enemies or one of the many other tracks in Lynx's current repertoire. Marcus Intalex has been so impressed with Lynx's productions that he is releasing a single and an EP on the groundbreaking Soul:R recordings. Not only that 2007 will see Lynx integrated into the Soul:R camp as an official Soul:R artist alongside legends such as Calibre, Marcus Intalex and ST Files. INFILTRATA [ Tek Dubz | Renegade Hardware ] - LA So who is Infiltrata? He's doing big things, signed to Photek Productions / Metalheadz / Renegade Hardware / Tech Itch Recs. / Outbreak / Tek Dubz / Cartel / Uprising / TOV / Imperial / Version. His motto, "Eat, Sleep, and shit Drum & Bass," suits John well. However, his strength as a DJ/Producer have since overshadowed his talents on the mic taking him to various parts of Europe and just about every city stateside worthy enough to host quality drum & bass events. John's ability to control minds behind the decks is comparable to his skills on the mic, because his energy is highly contagious. He is one of only a few DJ's that can gracefully fuse hip hop and drum and bass. 9. Saturday | May.17.2008 Upfront Industries presents: CHASE & STATUS [ Ram Records ] - UK Since the birth of their Drum and Bass career in 2004, things have been moving extremely rapidly for this London based duo. From their debut release on Renegade Hardware (a remix of Future Cut's 20/20), a continuous output of quality music has followed, catapulting Chase and Status into the premiership of Drum and Bass. Chase and Status continue to work harder than ever and have had a busy start to 2007 with the release of two huge remixes. Firstly there was their take on Brockie & Ed Solo's classic 'Represent' on Undiluted and shortly after saw the acclaimed remix of Plan B’s - 'No Good' on 679. The pair recently signed exclusively with Andy C & Red One's label, Ram Records. April 2007 saw the duo's debut Ram release with 'Dumpling Riddim' B/W 'Disco' which went straight in at Number 1 in the 1xtra Drum and Bass charts and Number 2 in the National Dance Charts on BBC Radio 1. Forthcoming, is the Chase and Status remix of, Mercury Music Prize winner, Dizzee Rascal's 'Sirens' on XL Recordings, and an exciting, highly anticipated album set for early next year, which will showcase the incredible versatility of these talented producers. Quickly getting noticed for their mixing skills as well as their production, Chase and Status have gathered a hectic DJ schedule and can regularly be seen touring the world. Beginning their DJ careers just over 13 years ago, they have witnessed the constant stylistic changes the industry has been through and their sets really reflect this, covering a wide spectrum of Drum and Bass. They still cut dubplates week in week out and are well known for playing exciting sets, often combining different musical genres. SPIRIT [ Inneractive | Metalheadz ] - UK From his early days on Metalheadz, to his collaborations with Digital to his own heavy and challenging label Inneractive, Spirit has been bringing his own sound to the genre and suprising audiences with every other selection out of the bag. Spirit's solo work continued with further releases for C.I.A, Timeless, Renegade Hardware (including the mammoth 'Sphinx') and the mighty 'Solitaire' for Metalheadz, culminating in the launch of his own solo imprint, Inneractive Music in the summer of 2002. The last two years have seen Spirit go on to even bigger and better things. With Inneractive Music now firmly in position and into double figures release wise, work for Klute's Commercial Suicide label, the Solitaire Remix or Metalheadz alongside tracks for their MDZ03 & MDZ04 compilations, Marcus Intalex & St. Files Revolve:r imprint and a host of remixes which included the Goldie classic ‘Sinister’, Spirit is currently hard at work on his debut album for Inneractive Music, while also allowing the label to showcase newer talent from the likes of Amit, Outrage, Cujo, Tactile & Heist. 11. Wednesday | March.26.2008 Upfront, Steez Promo and M3 present: VIRAM - WASH, D.C. Celebrating 5 Years of Drum & Bass @ FIVE ANDY C & MC GQ [ Ram Records ] - UK **WORLD'S #1 DNB DJ** The man mysteriously known to most as Andy C. undoubtedly is one of the most important figures in drum'n'bass' evolution. He was there at the dawn of the '90s when drum'n'bass was still hardcore techno, honing his talents as a DJ. Then, in 1992, just as drum'n'bass was beginning to blossom, he formed Ram Records with Ant Miles. Throughout all his success, the man known to only a select few as Andy Clarke managed to remain for the most part anonymous and, as a result, considerably mythical -- an iconic figure within the insular and manic U.K. drum'n'bass scene -- known to even his fans as only Andy C. ED RUSH & OPTICAL [ Virus ] - UK **FIVE DEBUT** Ed Rush & Optical (aka Ben Settle and Matt Quinn) contributed severely to the evolution of drum & bass long before their studio partnership was born. After releasing several quality 12's the duo created what is still considered to be one of the most important drum & bass albums ever – 'Wormhole'. This claustrophobic, funk-fuelled collection still sounds as fresh today as it was then, with notable classics such as 'Compound' and 'Point Blank' setting the standard that many are still trying unsuccessfully to duplicate today. Skip to 2001 and the second Ed Rush & Optical album, 'The Creeps' takes the duo to new production heights. For the first time they collaborate with vocalists, most notably MC Rhymetyme on the stunning 'Resurrection'. The biggest tune from the album was the heavyweight 'Pacman', with its Ram Trilogy remix giving the Virus imprint its first national chart placing. The album was swiftly followed by the massive 12 'Kerbcrawler' that borrowed loosely from a house tune but was rinsed by drum & bass DJs everywhere. 2003 saw the third long-player appear from the duo. 'The Original Doctor Shade', in their own words was more like Wormhole and was more fun to make. MC Rymetyme returned to the fold on the bleep 'n' bass of 'Why' alongside MC Darrison, plus there was a tidy collaboration with hip-hops finest – the Scratch Perverts. The most interesting addition to the tracklisting was 'Smarty Pants', an energetic slice of house music that found its way into the record box of Seb Fontaine amongst others. With the duo rumoured to be sitting on more than 100 non-dnb tracks you don’t have to be a genius to work out the one they chose for the album is something special. Today their DJing commitments span the four corners of the globe and we can expect much ground-breaking material to come from the Virus Recordings camp. SUB FOCUS [ Ram Records ] - UK With several tracks to his name all made in the space of the last twelve months 2004 has been a massive year for Nick aka Sub Focus: the year has seen him breakthrough in unprecedented fashion armed with the likes of the technically astounding "Acid Test", the simple yet devastatingly effective "Strobe", the lively "Get on Up" and the altoghether awesome "X-Ray". In a matter of months, he has gone from being one of many wannabe producers to become a permanent fixture of the award winning Ram Records family. Artists like Sub Focus are what "Best Breakthrough Producer" awards are made for. RED ONE [ Ram Records ] - UK Scott Bourne aka Red One is a multi-talented major player… His labels; Ram, Liftin’ Spirits, Frequency and Ratio are all much respected, and Ram now approaching its 15th year still remains in a league of its own when it comes to supplying the dance floor. His own tunes; have always been a case of quality rather than quantity, purely because there aren’t enough hours in the day. Moving onto Red One the DJ; wicked DJ, always brings the vibes, never better showcased than at his very own legendary club night Ram @ The End which is nothing short of a drum and bass institution that helps push the scene forward. 12. Wednesday | February.20.2008 Upfront and M3 present: FABIO [ Radio 1 | Creative Source | Swerve ] - UK From playing pirate radio to residing at Britain's most exciting and ground breaking clubs, Fabio & Grooverider have forged a path that has shaped the sound of drum 'n' bass and been vital in establishing the house, techno and early breakbeat scenes in the UK. The duo first hooked up in early 1987 at Phase One, a pirate radio station which also featured the likes of Colin Dale and David Angel. An instant rapport was established as Fabio dropped funk and soul numbers over Grooverider's hip hop beats. With acid house, they started DJing together at Mendoza's - an after hours haunt in Brixton full of the Shoom crowd. Quickly establishing a name for themselves, they began playing all the major raves, spinning a mixture of Detroit house and early rave. Fabio & Grooverider have always been a couple of steps ahead of their contemporaries, laying down early European techno way back in 1989, and developing the first UK breakbeat as long ago as 1991 at seminal club night Rage. They've also played extensively on the rave and house circuits for years, both together and separately. BOBBY JAE [ Upfront | Five ] - DC Mastering the sounds of DC drum and bass, Bobby Jae never fails with his impeccable mixing and top-notch selection. Be sure to check out Bobby Jae's new highly anticipated mix, Upfront Drum n' Bass. DARKENETIKS & HITOI [ EXBC | FBC ] - DC Long time supporter of the DC drum & bass scene, Darkenetiks looks to recreate only the best vibes from years past with every set he plays today. Like a Sci-Fi Disco gone wild, his infectious energy and solid selection will put the dancefloor to the test. Check him out, as he shows you what the term "Dance Music" truly means. Hitoi's flavor of dnb is strongly influenced by her house background with groovy melodies and catchy basslines.
